Could get a bunch that last game but really why would want to leave him in a game that will be over way early. Could you take a chance in a game like that. We have all seen stuff like that happen. But he could rack up 250 yards playing the entire game. Great player

To me the thing that kills it more than anything is the lack of a Middle School and none of the six K-8 schools do not offer football only basketball. The County wide 6-8 th grade team only had like 14 players but there are maybe that many boys at every school that want to play basketball but why not ,they get to play for their School. Who every is coaching at the high school is behind just about everyone else that they have to play. Even RBS has a middle school team and Cannon may have as six times the students. Many other problems, can it be changed, sure it can. But you will have to change the way many people think. which is harder than winning games.

As my old coach told me one time "It is hard to put on a circus if you don't have the animals".But if you can coach you can take your team and beat his team and take his team and beat your team. Which one is more true that is the great question.If your coach has both of these things going on raise their pay and hope to keep them.

Woodbury newspaper stated that the 6th-8th grade team had 14 players total for the future of football in Cannon County.Sort of makes it tough playing the U.

What can you say. I have seen first year teams look like this andI have seen some first year teams look better.

With only about 24 or 25 players and 10 of those playing their last two games I feel that this thing might be on the edge. Another couple of bad losses might push it over the edge. Seems to me that not that many people would really care if the program was done away with. Just unthinkable that this could happen at the 3-A level.

Warren County is 6-A . Winning this game my have moved them away from Maryville for the 1st round of the playoffs.

Just can not put it all on the coaching staff It takes alot more that that to make it work. Nick Saban would have a hard time coaching at CC. Lots of stuff to go around is what i hear.

Well said kids are not stupid. Knowing that you have a chance to be apart and to compete is to me just as important as victory. You are not going to win everytime in life but you sure can try.

It has to be a winner kids have got to want to play.Remember this is only the sixth year that every boy in Rutherford County has had the chance to play on a Middle School football team. Seems to be working in other areas also.Kids want to play for a winner and parents want to support a winner.

Numbers are apart of the answer of course there are others. If you have 10 good basketball players you can play. With football you need at least 25 and 40 would be better. At least 25 that can start only one way plus special teams. Kids that can play on kickoff and kickoff and punt return teams and of course the more the better. Needs to really start in or about 6th grade and grow from there.Whoever is coaching at the high school level I think would agree. Look at the good 3-A programs in the state and see how many players play only on one side of the ball and you must have depth at at least some positions. It just takes more people that can play.It is like this in baseball you can never have enough pitchers.If you had 30 kids on your baseball team 20 of them may need to be able to pitch. Ten may not be enough.

To me it is a five to six year project. Target all the good 6th graders that can play and by the time they reach the 10th or 11th grade with a good or great coaching staff in place at the high school results should be there, but you will never be able to do it with you do not build a Middle School where football be the focus for at least four months out of the year. It is called a program for people to be apart of. It can be done but it is going to take time and money and effort. Believe it or not even basketball would become better.

Right on!!! Why would anyone want to coach at a high school that had no Middle School would any Rutherford County team ,no not even MTCS. Someone said on here the other day that the U had 40 8th graders playing on their Middle School team.

Hey semperfimom i keep thinking about the Cannon football program. Do you know, did anybody on the school board members every play football, when the program or on another program when the play was at least average. Does at least someone have a clue as what needs to be done so the kids would have a fighting chance? How many are on the school board. What about the director and or the principal or assistant principals at the high school, did any of them ever play football? You may not know any of these answers to these questions. Might help to explain why things are the way they are. Good Luck

I watched the game last night on DTC. Watched it all, only time I have seen Cannon play I am at a loss of what to say. People had told me but until you see it you just can not believe it. Could anyone name five teams in the state that they could play with not beat, because I do not know if they ould beat anyone.How many did they have dressed I could count maybe 23 or 24.If something does not change why would anyone want their boy to play next year. Got to feel for the parents and players that do care. If I had a boy that wanted to play and had any ability at all and nothing changes I would be looking at crossing the border in some direction. Wow Someone told me the other day that the football program might be just dropped you could say that it has already happened.

Does anyone remember the last time that Woodbury or Cannon won 7 games. I have been told that you would have to go backto the 1970's. 5-5 would be great. Did they play 2 playoff games in 1979 maybe that year. I believe that they have been to the playoffs twice since then. Wow
