    Bruceton:

    Region 6 - 51.6 Miles / 1:01 time

    Region 7 - 48.6 miles / :59 time

    West Carroll:

    Region 6 - 64.16 miles / 1:18 time

    Region 7 - 34.83 miles / :44 time

Again I think WC has a legit claim to being in Region 7 for them it cuts down almost half the milage and time. But for Bruceton I believe the BOC will look and see there is no real difference. I could see WC getting moved for sure, just do not know if they want to split up the county is all.

And if you put that amount of travel into dollars and cents, that's a huge amount of potential gate/concessions money lost because even the die hard fans might balk at driving that far every week. WC fans, though big on support, aren't exactly deep in pockets with money. For some, maybe more, they would rather watch it live stream for free on YouTube than travel all that way. At least if they are moved to Region 7, the farthest drive is to Lake County at just under an hour and a half. Everyone else is less than hour in region.

New Thought after all the moving...

Region 1 - Cloudland, Cosby, Hampton, Hancock Co, N. Green, Unaka, Jellico

(This sucks for Jellico but they have been doing it and they don't fit anywhere else)

Region 2 - Coalfield. Clay Co, Oliver Springs, Red Boiling Springs, Sunbright, Wartburg

Region 3 - Greenback, Harriman, Midway, Oakdale, Rockwood, Sale Creek

Region 4 - Copper Basin, Huntland, Lookout Valley, Moore Co, South Pitt, Whitwell

(This sucks for Huntland & Moore Co, But if they wanna keep regions somewhat balanced its only option)

Region 5 - Cornersville, Eagleville, Fayetteville, Innovation Academy, Jo Byrns, Richland

Region 6 - Collinwood, Hollow rock-Bruceton, Humbolt, Perry Co, Wayne Co, West Carroll

Region 7 - Dresden, Gleason, Greenfield, Lake Co, McKenzie, So Fulton

Region 8 - Booker T Washington, KIPP, Manassas, Middleton, Memphis Middle, Oakhaven, Westwood

In Region 6 you would have both Humboldt and West Carroll driving over 2 hours for region games at Collinwood when they both could be Region 7 and the farthest they drive is to Lake County, 1 hour or so away?

  3. The true question is not who the favorites are, because so far it's either a team out of region 6 or Fayetteville. The question we should all be asking is who will be the surprise teams? That's the teams that are not on a favorites list that will come out of nowhere and make some noise. What are all your thoughts on that?

  4. Just throwing this out there. Michigan uses a playoff point system to determine whose in. It used to be if you won 6 games (they play a 9 game regular season), you were automatically in the playoffs. However, that led to teams playing weak schedules to make it in. Then in 2020 they adjusted it to using playoff points based on strength of schedule and who your opponents played.

Division One Breakdown Based Off Of Enrollment Numbers:

    1A:  Gleason (122) through Houston County (371)

    2A:  Manassas (374) through Sheffield (540)

    3A:  Trezevant (541) through Raleigh Egypt (724)

4A:  Unicoi County (726) through White County (1,113)

    5A:  Lawson/Hillwood (1,121) through Oak Ridge (1,549)

    6A:  Clarksville (1,555) through Collierville (2,827)

Pretty close to what I was figuring.

If a team has the mercy rule applied to them 5 times or more for two seasons in a row then they should have to give up football for 2 years.  We have 6 levels now.  Have for a long time.  There is no excuse for keeping a program around like that.  Possibly, an exception could be made for 1A but only if they have an enrollment of less than 200.

Wow….this almost one of those “Tell me you didn’t play high school football” without saying you didn’t play high school football.

Just like they said south pitt would've beat Fayetteville by 30 last year and what happened? Fayetteville was to big to physical and to fast might have been a good game but Fayetteville wins that game respectfully. if TSSAA doesnt go back on their word Fayetteville wins it all that yr as well.

Yes Fayetteville beat South Pitt last season after being considered huge underdogs. Any team out of the west was going to be considered that. As to the LC/Fayetteville game from 2020, Fayetteville won by 2 scores. The 2019 version of the LC team could have named the score if they played the 2020 version of LC. Not only did the 2019 team held the class A Mr. Football to one catch, they also shut down a D-1 Va. Tech commit and made him look silly, apparently running the same play at him at least 10 times late in the game.

Anyway, we can argue this all day, but it still doesn't change the fact that Fayetteville didn't play and LC won it all.

It’s a forfeit game. Lake County lost the game by not playing in TSSAA’s eyes. 1-0 Peabody

Actually no. According to the TSSAA Board of Control meeting of August 16, it's handled this way:

    Quote

The Board voted to continue handling game cancellations due to COVID-19 in that same manner as last year. If a school has to postpone a game due to COVID-19, the two schools have the option to make up the contest at a later date. If this cannot be worked out, the opposing team will receive a win for seeding purposes. The team that has to postpone due to COVID-19 cases does not receive a loss. In football, if the game is not made up and the team that cannot play due to COVID-19 is the visiting team, they would remain the visiting team the following year

So since Peabody and Lake County are making up (and using non-region scheduled game dates), it's a legit game.

We have 376 not 510 lake is 255 but I see your point ! Just a choice the coach’s made and as a community we supports them ! Glad to see WC most definitely should be playing meaningful ball again late in the year !

Lake county has 210 according to the school count, so Peabody is roughly 40 students shy of doubling Lake county up. And they (LC) want to play.

In the words of our lake county friends. It’s too late and we would not get enough practice in to play.

Lake County schools have been closed since this past Friday, so they have not been able to practice at all. The earliest they could practice is tomorrow assuming that they don’t have to many guys in quarantine since the district does contact tracing. Tomorrow is when the district is going to open back up.
