  1. Excited to see how round two shakes out tonight. I know HC comes in as a heavy underdog to this contest rightfully so. However, I am interested to see what Coach Clark and the defense has come up with to try and keep this game close for 4 qt. Best of luck to both teams tonight and regardless the outcome I hope that neither team has to deal with injuries. All of these young men are on the downhill slide of a great season's. Thankful to still be in the fight week 13 and have the opportunity to compete with Wayne County down at the creek on this cold night. Finally, some football weather lol. Hoping for a respected week 13 contest.
  2. Lol. This whole page of the thread lightened my day. Lol. I was expecting chapped rear ends over that post in glad it didn't piss any NCS fans off as that definitely wasn't my intentions. I can imagine it being difficult to get kids to come to a school in Nashville without recruiting . I am just glad we're not one of those public schools that fall into a region with a team like that anymore. It's almost like 2 playoff spots are wrapped up beyond a shadow of a doubt and everyone else plays for a 3rd and 4 th seed lol
  3. I like to think having a second go around would help HC better defend WC to make this one somewhat interesting. However that said obvious logic tells us WC knows what to expect from HC now as well. For round two respect is concerned I hope HC puts up 4 qts like their 1st two in the previous meeting and scores a few points to make it a ball game. That's the beautiful thing about this highschool game. It all depends on who shows up . Any given Friday night things can get a little crazy . Especially between public schools. None of that public vs private( recruiting) crap. I definitely for one am thankful even as a HC fan that we are placed in the region we are. Nothing at all against private schools or kids that attend them but it was a lot easier to respect a public school like Wayne or Huntingdon after the losses we received from them than it would have been from Nashville Christian or a school of that caliber with rumors of recruitment flying around every breath. I played for HC back in 03 . Ironically the last year we went to the second round. We were in 2a then but still had to play private schools like Goodpasture and David lipscomb ( lipscomb academy) whom both at that time were power houses of the region like Huntingdon and Wayne are now. Very thankful for the way things have transpired over the years. Excited for some Friday night lights this week and no matter what the end result is , praying for a healthy 4 qt from each player. Go Irish
  4. I figured you weren't being for real but it was too punchy to not run with it. lol. If there is one thing I can say about this match up its this. HC is definitely going to have to be able to throw the ball somewhat effectively to make this the honest round 2 match up that anyone who is a high school football fan wants to see. Most of the time the underlying truth is all that really matters is winning and losing. However, IMO I feel like this game really has more to offer. Our first match up HC showed signs of competing if even for a quarter with Rice under center. Before that sounds arrogant let me say I know they scored their first two touchdowns with rice under center and that was the key factor in WC taking flight that game. However, as I said in one of my previous posts those two scores were on big plays where HC defense seemed non existent, one of which was the screen pass to cole on 3rd down that went for like 80 something yards. lol. I feel like HC has a good opportunity in this game to show improvement between last outing and this one. By saying that I simply mean that HC has to find a way to productively throw the football even if its not for huge gains. They have to find a way to not be one dimensional otherwise Wayne is going to have multiple men in the box and tee off on us again for four quarters. Im excited about the opportunity to play you guys again. Im just hoping we do the things that need to be done to make it an interesting contest.
  5. I will second that. Just seems like there is more intelligent football talk and friendly competition when they are not involved. Things tend to get a little childish and irrational comments are made when they start trolling through threads.
  6. I don't think anyone really writes off your guys run game I think its probably more of a situation where you have a Mr. Football candidate in Rice who can throw the ball around at will and the run game kind of takes a back seat to the more exciting aspect of your guys offensive strategy. I will say this though, Wayne scored off of two BIG plays in the first half to go up by 14-0. One of which was on a 3 rd down inside their own ten yard line. I would have liked to seen HC's mindset and how they came out after halftime tied 0-0 with a team that was supposed to have a running clock in the third quarter. It was obvious once Rice got back under center the 2nd qt the offense kind of found its pace again and not saying the first half knotted up at 0-0 would have changed anything as far as the outcome of the game or nothing but it would have made it just that more interesting to see. Posters on here were kind of shocked when reports showed HC only down by 14 at half. Whatever the outcome this Friday I hope everyone leaves the field injury free. I hope that HC finds a way to compete for 4 qts and not just two this go round. Should make for a great second round playoff game if they can find a way to score some points of their own. Regardless, whoever wins this game has definitely got their work cut out for them in attempting to advance. As, it looks like quarterfinals will be against Nashville Christian and Semi Finals Union City.
  7. Absolutely, agree 100 % can't wait for Friday night lights . Nothing else in the world like it
  8. I appreciate your insight on round one I was really curious I'm excited to be apart of round two football regardless. No better way to experience it than to play the best of the region. Looking forward to it wildcats . We will bring everything we've got .
  9. I actually hope it's a rainy mess. I feel like that helped neutralize the game a bit. Had HC came out the second half playing ball it could have been a 28-14 or even 28-21 game. We could atleast competed a little bit. Mr. Rice did not faulted in the rain but his reviewers did. That's a big big deal. I'm anxious to see what Monterey did to hold Wayne to 21 points . I expected to see a blow out. Maybe Monterey was tougher than I expected or maybe they found a slight weakness in an otherwise perfect Wayne team. Either way win or lose I hope HC makes this a respectable 2nd round playoff game
  10. Excited about the opportunity to come to Wayne county. Great group of kids and great coaching staff. Hopefully we can find a way to slow that kid down lol and in doing so figure out a way to muster up some points of our own. Either way, very thankful to be apart of Irish football and in the 2nd round of the playoffs. Anything can happen any given Friday night . Good luck to both teams
  11. What a class act post. As a current assistant coach of this team I've never felt such joy watching a group of kids celebrate in victory than I did tonight. That 03 team you speak of was my junior year. I'm 28 years old now and it's been few and far between the years of football success that we've been able to enjoy in this small community. This years group of kids are driven by a core of senior and junior kids that endured the heartache of last seasons losses. I will say this about the HC vs JB game. I've never been subject to a more well rounded and totally mature group of kids as an opponent. When we walked across that 50 yard line tonight to shake the hands of those jo byrns players and coaches , not only were the opposing coaches congratulating , the kids were too. I don't know his name or even what position he played but #59 was a true class act . He stopped me and another coach after the game as we were shaking hands and commended us on the job these kids have done this year. Makes one truly envious of the job coach Adkins is doing with those boys as well as the raising they are getting at home. Somebody is doing something right. At the end of the day it really makes you take pride in being apart of this game. Especially when you have the pleasure to witness triumph as well as defeat and everyone involved on either side display the equal amount of maturity and will to win that this game was built upon and meant to be played with. I will remember this game for years to come.
  12. I hate to say it Watkins but I have to agree with you on this statement. We have shown throughout the year that we have the ability to come out flat, come out fired up, and go between the two throughout the entire game. I don't think we have played a team throughout the season where we haven't gotten down and let our technique and just basic football IQ slip a bit here and there somewhere during the 4 quarters. Its almost like our boys sometimes fear after a score from the opposing team that its over. After CA ran that kick off back against us our sideline was down, and our players as a whole were down. It seemed like after we settled down and actually got to run an offensive series and realized we could move the ball on CA they sort of settled back in and regained confidence. However, as you said with Jo Byrn's experience in games such as these, and with the coaching staff that they have we cant give him the opportunity to drive the final nail in the coffin so to speak. We for once have to compete an entire 4 quarters of football to the best of our potential. I hope that's this Friday night. If so it should make for a very interesting match. I would have to think that combined with the weather predictions if they hold true would have to be in our favor. Cant wait to see how the Irish come out and compete.
  13. Stang you bounce around so much in your post I'm not sure any of us can follow. First off if your going to quote a post be sure you read it first. Show me where I was "demeaning" as you say 44 or 11. Show me where I said they mean nothing. I understand ur still butt hurt about the loss to Wayne because things didn't really go your way but it seems it is you that is , how did you say "talking out of both sides of your mouth" . Never once did I bring up the beat down you guys handed us nor did i downgrade the athleticism of either of those two athletes. If I was demeaning anything it would be the comments I read two weeks prior to the Huntingdon /Wayne match up counting Wayne county out of the game before it was ever played. Now it's kind of bit Huntingdon in the a**. Once again understand nowhere in my post did I downgrade any athlete or their ability. Nor did I say loosing them didn't matter. I was simply implying that maybe just maybe Wayne still makes it a game even if either of those two players were on the field, because maybe, and I stress this maybe for Huntingdon fans sake since it's impossible for any team in this region to be on their level ,maybe Wayne was a "WORTHY" opponent despite all the comments prior to the game by Huntingdon fans . Guess we will never know. However, don't ever put words in my mouth just to make you feel better . It is what it is everyone is in the play offs . Good luck to region 6 representatives .
  14. I wanna say this. As a Houston county fan and having 1st hand experience with Wayne Co. Players and Huntingdon players it's night and day in comparison. I'm extremely excited for HC and what they have overcome last year to now. If they don't win another ballgame those boys have really turned some heads this year despite what Huntingdon fans may believe and constantly take pride in disputing week in and week out about HC 's accomplishments. No one chooses their opponents strength. Whether they be weak or strong no one team can tell year to year what caliber of team they will be facing. No more than power houses Wayne or Huntingdon could have projected the strength at the years beginning of their respected regions. HC has been said to have played weak teams all year aside from Huntingdon and Wayne. Whatever , were still 8-2 and that's something to be excited about from 1-9 a year ago. That said to validate my reasoning for posting this on this thread. I'm so very excited that Wayne co (not Huntingdon) is representing our regions #1 seed this year. By far , hands down a class act group of young men, lead by what seems to be a class act and incredibly talented QB as well as an intelligent coaching staff. That team is able to take pride in their success without displaying erogance. They win in a way that makes one believe they've been there and done that before. Best of luck during this playoff run to Wayne county. Hope to meet up with you in round 2. Wayne wins in a 3+ score victory, HC wins in a nail biter.
  15. Regardless of "horse's" opinion this game is 10x more excited than Nashville Christian vs. CA or Wayne vs. Monterey. Neither of those two games will be close to a ballgame. Jo Byrns and HC will be a battle. Either team has a chance for the win . Horse is just pissed cause Huntingdon lost to Wayne co. After talking up that beat down they were gonna deliver all year. However, no worries horse, you've got "injuries" to blame Huntingdon's loss to Wayne on. Cause they would have never stood a chance with 44 and 11 playing..... Yea right. Give me a break. Humble yourself. HC has just as much of a chance going to round 2 as Huntingdon does at this point and I'd say that's a pretty good chance so give HC credit and quit hatin* Take that how you will.
