  1. How hungry are the Vikings for that first win? How hungry are the Irish to get their first win in almost a month after a bye week and painful losses to WC + H'don? It will all be clear come this Friday night! Opinions? Analysis?
  2. Maybe so. I'm not arguing that point. My point stands...and H'don fans can't stand it
  3. H'don starters fumbled vs. HC... I've got the game-film.
  4. I'm not blaming the loss on 1 overturned takeaway. The loss is not the point of these posts. But if you need to hear it again...Huntingdon is better than us. I've said that plainly and repeatedly. My point remains. Huntingdon has a ball-security issue. And last week's lost fumble vs. McEwen was not the first one of the season. Just keeping you guys honest.
  5. Oh, yeah. It was a great week for Mustang football. Y'all killed us. 55-14 49-0 at halftime...if you wanna hang your hat on that...whatever that means with so many blown calls. Thanks for making my point by changing the subject
  6. I hate to correct you, sir. But Huntingdon varsity fumbled the ball 5 times vs. HC. We recovered three of them. And two were given back to Huntingdon by mis-rulings of the officials. Remember the opening kickoff of our game and the (phantom) inadvertent whistle? That was the first and most obvious. The one of the five that for sure was allowed to stand was on one of the early Huntingdon drives. HC took over after the fumble recovery with our best field position of the night (near Huntingdon's 30 going in). Three plays later, a Huntingdon defender was permitted to hitch a piggy-back ride on our TE who had a step and would have caught the on-target pass in the red-zone. One play later, you intercepted a pass deflected off the hands of one of our TBs on a screen play and took it to the house for a pick-6. I remember it very well. Your claim is not substantiated. And I can support mine with film. Thank you.
  7. Oh, I agree with you about WC offense 100%. I wasn't making a case for McEwen having success vs. WC. Just speaking up with my insight into McEwen since there is a void of voices on here from the Warrior community. I think their QB is actually pretty decent and would be reasonably successful running veer behind (let's just say) Wayne County's offensive line. Does it make better sense, now? And I agree with you about the explosiveness of the WC offense. Most explosive offense we've (Houston Co) seen this year by the numbers. Y'all can score from anywhere at any time.
  8. Huntingdon is physically superior to everyone in the region including WC. But WC's explosive play potential & game-management savvy is a wild-card in this one. WC also plays a very clean game--pristine even in sloppy weather. Huntingdon had TONS of penalties to clean up--the many that have gotten called and many more that have not been called by West Tennessee Home Cooking. And Huntingdon really does have an issue with ball-security. Yeah, they recover a lot of their own fumbles--cuz they are laying on top of every defender who might otherwise recover those loose balls, or cuz their officials can find a way to give it back to them after their opponents recover. Not rooting for either team. I like how the strengths & weaknesses of each can cause this one to play either way! But I truly want to see it officiated well and I chuckle every time a H'don fan downplays the Mustangs issues with penalties and ball-security. Too much pride precipitates a fall.
  9. This guy makes a great point.... My biggest concern for the H'don / WC game is that it gets hosed by bad officiating. Clearly, WC exists on the wrong side of the river for them to truly be a good football team (insert sarcasm & eye-roll, here). Sadly, that is the bias (even of the officiating crews) coming out of West Tennessee. And while the bias may have a basis in reality, we will never know if the stages of these middle/west match-ups don't get set properly with objective officiating. Frankly, I have a hard time trusting the legitimacy of all these inflated points-per-game comparisons I hear coming out of Huntingdon because I know that Huntingdon doesn't score all those points by themselves every week. Hopefully it will be a Middle Tennessee crew who can see past such bias and who respects both teams. It would be a shame if we never really get to find out which of these teams is better. But I could see it happening if another biased crew shows up & bows to the almighty Mustang fan-base. Wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it with my own eyes. Genuinely concerned about this...not just venting.
  10. I think McEwen's QB executes the veer well. And they have a very tough runner in #22 (I think). The bottom line is that their line is young, weak, and easily tired out for lack of depth and physical maturity. But those boys are fighters. They didn't quit against HC. Heck, I've watched em a lot of years; and I've never seen em quit on anyone. And they also kept their composure against us. Lot's of respect for our rivals in red. And I hope they can finish the season with health intact and maybe even another win along the way. Best of luck to both teams.
  11. If academy can protect 3 seconds, they may make a little hay passing the ball. I'm interested to see how much a mature/accurate QB can threaten that secondary if he gets protection. Huntingdon is indeed a violent offense. And CA will struggle. I like the 56-14 score best of all the scores I've heard. Just not sure if the 14 will be first half TDs or 2nd half TDs. Hoping for a clean game and no injuries.
  12. Probably because y'all don't talk to your opponents; you talk at them. McEwen people ain't got time for that.
  13. Tarzan(a)...nice play on words. Yeah, I think your receiver could have for sure contested the under-thrown ball had he tracked it quickly and come back to it. I think pressure played a factor as well; I was kind of surprised to see Rice throw that ball while leaning backward to avoid two HC defensive linemen. Pretty uncharacteristic choice for him. Hope he continues to polish his game--which is already top shelf, for sure! Can't believe that kid is just a Junior. And that Pearson (for Huntingdon) is just a Sophomore. Bright things ahead for both of our top two region 6 teams--even beyond this season.
  14. You are right; we have such a long way to go yet in the passing game. I hope your 3rd place prediction comes true for us wildcat89. Perry, Bruce & Academy down the stretch and we have a few injuries to overcome, now...no game is a given. Feels good to receive your vote of confidence, though.
  15. Any of you WC stat guys got a count on explosive plays for the season? (runs over 12 yards; passes over 18) Seems like it's possible to restrict and even stifle your O for a series here and there. But then, BOOM!! It's over. Y'all can score from anywhere on the field at any time. I would venture to say that you have more TDs from outside the red zone than you do from within. Any stats on that?

  17. Kudos to #20, #1, and #40 on Wayne Co Defense. Y'all whipped our tails tonight and kept us from maintaining any offensive rhythm outside the 1st quarter. Rice is the real deal...even in the rain. Kudos to Irish #25 Arturo Zarzana for being the first player all year to intercept Rice. And Kudos to the Irish D-line for putting him on the ground a few times. Wish it could have been more. Proud of both teams. Wayne Co is a class act....easy to cheer for them moving forward.
  18. For sure! But after playing last year with 2 seniors, 11 juniors, 5 sophomores, 7 freshmen, and losing 8 of those 25 total players to season ending injuries...we know we have persevered through worse. So we will take it in stride and keep putting one foot in front of the other from right here where we are. We just have to go out and recruit again this year. And again and again until we consistently have good numbers throughout all classes. One day we may even wake up and realize we've built ourselves a consistent program that can stand alongside the greats in 1A and bring a healthy challenge to major matchups.
  19. Thanks for being the first person in the world outside of HC to acknowledge the blown call on that kickoff. I don't understand why Huntingdon fans feel so insecure they can't be honest about stuff like that. Fact is, Huntingdon is better than HC. But a lot of things were mishandled in that game. Thanks for stirring the pot in a good way! Thanks for the encouragement. And thanks for your prayer. May it be likewise for PC & Collinwood. Please, Lord, no more injuries....and healing for those already injured!
  20. Current standings in our region approximates a similar order. Pretty interesting to analyze. I don't have HC's exact numbers. But I can tell you we have 18 seniors (6 of whom didn't play last year, 2 of whom never played before) and close to that many freshmen. Smaller in the Jr & So classes.
  21. Speaking of numbers... Is it true that Union City leaches talented athletes from their little sister Obion Central just southwest of there?
  22. Seems like I remember CW having 5 seniors. Some tough sophomores on that team who are gonna be very good players with loads of valuable experience. Tough kids, too. I could see this one going either way. Seems like Collinwood has been more competitive so far...but clearly PC has played a tougher schedule. I'll be watching for updates on this one. Thanks for the good posts, guys. And good luck to both teams!
  23. Great stuff, man! You totally just elevated my view of PC's efforts so far. Not that I was disrespecting them. Haven't seen any film on y'all except for the Huntingdon game. We both looked about the same in that one And so did Collinwood! Pretty ballsy move y'all made starting the game with an onside kick and recovery! I liked it. I dig the analysis you offer--for real! Not sure yet what my take is on CW v. PC.... How many juniors and seniors are on PC's roster?
