I've let this be known before but 16 wasn't started until last game bc the previous starter's parents complained about it to the administration bc apparently money buys your kid more playing time. And only til Mays knew how stupid he did look did he make the change. Carter is a sophomore so he will only get better. I don't think they will have a losing record as carter and Scott and the rest of the younger players get older and gain more strength and experience. You ask why 16 wasn't playing safety? Same reason as mentioned above. He started at safety every pre season game and practice and again parents complained so that is why he was not playing defense. He is the fastest or one of the fastest kids on the team. Mays has to learn to utilize things like that and quit worrying about what PARENTS/MONEY/POLITICS are going to do...and sadly, it's not the kids faults, but they learn instead of working harder to get better and earn their spot back they can just sit back and let their parents defend for them. That's not setting any type of real world example. Just my thoughts.

THS played their hearts out but without defense how does anyone expect to win? Shuff was missed that's for sure. I would think Mays being a defensive guru would actually have a decent D. But we didn't. He finally started letting the athletes play and if this would have happened all year I think it would have been a win. Proud of 16 and 36 for being the offense and having over 500 rushing yards together. Can't wait to see where it goes next year...good game to Halls. Congrats.

Heard through the grapevine 16 is going to be starting QB, but who knows. That will make a huge difference if Mays doesn't go with him...hope the Vikes pull it off but without defense we are never going to win. And let's face it, the defense is terrible, and offense mediocre at best. If Halls is worse I will be surprised.

No and I don't think any of them are bad coaches if the school system and parents would let them do their jobs and quit telling them who to play they may not be so stressed and be able to do what they are supposed to. And last week it was up to the coaches to get them ready for Crockett but when kids think a team is bad bc they had never beat us (THS) before then they just automatically assume to win. Which def wasn't the case. It was everyone's fault equally.

You must not have watched the game with they changed QBs bc it most def would have changed the outcome even with the poor coaching. He threw the ball, ran the ball, and made things happen. Sometimes athletes need to realize they would make the team better by switching positions. But what do I know? If anyone saw the 4th quarter and doesn't see what's wrong they are blind.

Love the ending to this, let's just hope they give the young Carter a chance to shine next game:) SMH .... I have to say that for me... this is by far the most embarrassing loss the Vikings have suffered in my 11 years of closely following this program!!! This is followed closely by the 7 to 56 BLOWOUT to Greenville in 2010 (which would have been MUCH worse had they not called the DAWG off in the early stages of the 3rd QT), and the VERY disappointing loss to Boone in the first round of the Playoffs in 2009 (aka Our Year). It's obvious that the coaching staff as well as the Viking players took this Pioneer team lightly and suffered a beat down as a result. I hear some on here trying to blame tonight's dog stomp on the players performance. But performance is only a reflection of preparation (at this level), and preparation is a reflection of leadership (or lack there of)!!!!!!! If this was at a higher level than high school football this coaching staff would be escorted to the door solely on tonight's performance of this team!! This team is not lacking of athletes, size, speed, ability, depth......... but we are struggling to stay 500 with a schedule with virtually 3 and one half teams on it (if we're being honest). Why is that???! I have always felt like this O cordinator was only as good as his best player year after year, but I now have to question the person that allows him to make these decisions that he makes (15 before 16).?? I could go on and on.... but now that they have unleashed the YOUNG dragon, we are all left shaking our heads and wondering..... what do they have on this guy to make him play 15 over 16........ !!!!!!!!!! I just dropped the mic...

Ahh well I am glad to see that some people opened their eyes and saw what happened when 16 went in and played more than 1 play at a time. He would be the sophomore that is being complained about because 15 is a junior his parents believe he should play in front of him even though this evening showed everyone that the younger guy is a much better QB all around. Like I said money and politics have a lot to do with it. And every time 16 gets to play a little the administration gets called. It's simply a joke these coaches let the parents tell them who to play. They don't have anything over on the OC but I do know again for an absolute fact that he doesn't pick who plays QB, Mays does. But I am proud of the way they played in the 4th quarter and some may not like my opinion but if 16 had been in the entire game we would have won. The defense played better. Running different plays got them fired up. I guarantee another quarter or two and they could have came back from the 14 point deficit. Hopefully they will see they need to prepare for every team equally from now on.

Maybe one day the coaches will wake up and play the best athletes instead of worrying about parents with money complaining to superintendent of schools (and yes I know for an absolute fact it's been done twice this year against a sophomore saying he shouldn't play just bc he is a sophomore which is the dumbest thing I've EVER heard). I don't care if it's a freshman whoever gets the job done should be out there. The defense is playing terrible tonight and of course they actually watched game film and figured out the one play we run to shuff up the middle. So it's just going to continue to get worse I'm afraid. And another year of dealing with this QB may just keep people from even coming. THS has NEVER been beat by Crockett. I'm embarrassed for them.

Would also love to see all the BEST players on the field as well....but Tennessee high is all about playing players that's parents have money and that's why I will always support my family but i cannot respect coaches who have this approach.
