  1. Thanks! We hope to see y'all again next year - only we plan to make next years matchup come a week later, in round 3. We are only losing 5 seniors this year, and our core will be returning. Maybe next year we can come in with that same intensity SP had last night. Again, my hats off to your boys - that appeared to be a completely different team from the one I saw in some of the early season scout film. They are definitely going to be a force to be reckoned with next year.
  2. If SP gets the same offensive line play as last night, you will have no problem running on CA. Your biggest problem will be getting your secondary ready to contain CAS Garrison and Thompson. If your secondary gives them the same cushion they gave our receivers last night, CA will light it up and you will wind up in a shootout. Defensively, you should have the speed and discipline to contain their running game. That should be the game to watch next week - my son and I have already talked about making the trip back across the mountain to watch that one. I do believe the winner will be playing for the gold ball in a couple weeks, and if SP can finishe the next 2 games with the same intensity as last night, it will be SP.
  3. I will give credit where credit is due - So. Pitt flat out played us last night. SP's offensive line dominated the entire game and looked much much better than they appeared on the scout film I watched with my son. Tell me if I'm wrong, but it appeared SP played last night with more intensity than any team we've faced all year. I coached most of the Fayetteville boys in youth football years ago, and saw them as a team of 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders play with and beat 5th and 6th grade teams. One thing I think I can safely say is that we will have an opportunity to redeem ourselves next year. This was only our 3rd year with a varsity football program, and we hope to build the same type tradition here in Fayetteville that South Pittsburg has built over the last 50 years. I can honestly see a Fayetteville / South Pittsburg game happening almost every year in the post season. Looking forward to getting the opportunity to show that we can be just as gracious hosts as the folks I met and talked to last night in South Pittsburg. Last thing - I'm not a mom Ambassador. Don't know where you got that impression, lol.
  4. Neither - but I have watched every play, all year long. Most of these Fayetteville boys I coached in Youth Football and have watched them play middle and high school ball since. They may be small in numbers, but they're big in heart.
  5. So. Pitt isn't Columbia Academy, and it's not going to be raining tonight. In the CA game, our corner already had 2 picks and shut them down all night - the one play he slipped in the mud while making a cut, they had a 70 yard toss and catch. One play doesn't define a quarter. I still say Fayetteville is a strong 2nd half / 4th quarter team, and So Pitt better be ready to play all 4 quarters tonight. I'm expecting it to go down to the wire and be one of the better games to watch in our bracket tonight.
  6. No rose colored glasses here - my glasses are more clear than several of these folks predicting a SP win by 14-28 points. In all honesty, I believe it will come down to the 4th quarter to decide this one, and Fayetteville has played their best football in the 4th all year long in close games.
  7. My prediction: Fayetteville Tigers play a close one through 3 and then take the 4th Quarter by a storm and win by 10.
  8. If So Pitt does squeak by Fayetteville Friday, they're going to have their hands full with CA, especially if they don't have a tough secondary. Here's a link to the Columbia newspaper's coverage of our game against CA back in September. http://columbiadailyherald.com/sports/preps/ca-rallies-late-top-fayetteville
  9. I agree with you Ambassador. I was referring to the several posts earlier predicting a 3-4 TD blowout. I think we have two pretty evenly matched teams this year, either of which has the opportunity to go to Cookeville to represent the East. We also have a small team, and most of our starters will return next year. Coach P has done a tremendous job of building a team from scratch, with this being only our 3rd year to field a varsity team (and 5th year as a high school).
  10. I'm not saying ya'll cant play, I'm just saying I really hope ya'll are preparing for the team that Fayetteville brought to SP 2 years ago instead of this team we've got now. @ years ago, that Fayetteville team was our first year with a Varsity team - our high school is only 5 years old. If SP wins this one, they win by a touchdown or less, but from the film I've watched, I think Fayetteville will give SP more than they want come Friday.
  11. Somebody bring a Defibrillator for these SP folks - I'm afraid they might have a heart attack Friday night if they're expecting a 3-4 TD blowout!
  12. With all respect, the only team able to get a +21 deficit on Fayetteville this year was a (still) undefeated Franklin Road Academy Division II team. Our only other loss was a 29-23 loss to Columbia Academy, in a game we dominated until the final 2 minutes. We also won our only foray with a 2A team 49-21 earlier in the year. I think this Fayetteville / SP game will be a little tougher for SP than anyone wants to admit.
  13. PirateTom must have missed my earlier post - Fayetteville wins by a margin of 3 to 7 points. I read a post earlier predicting that SP would put up 35... That could very well be true, but Fayetteville had been averaging over 45 in our last 4 games or so. 35 might not be enough for SP to come out on top. I ha e no doubt it will be a hard fought game til the end though
  14. Harriman Greenback Fayetteville Columbia Academy Nashville Christian Wayne County Union City Dresden
  15. South Pitt looks to be a pretty good team, but topping Fayetteville by 21? I don't really see that happening based on our only common opponent, and also comparing Whitwell / SP and Columbia Academy / Whitwell game when you also take into consideration our game against CA. This game will be decided by 7 or less - you heard it here first! I'll go out on a limb and predict Fayetteville by 3.
  16. I wouldn't overlook Fayetteville in the East. We were 2 minutes and one slip and fall away from beating CA 22-21. Our CB already had 2 picks and shut down CA all night with the exception of slipping in the mud while making a cut, which allowed for the go-ahead score. If you can shut down CA's two receivers/runners (Taylor and Garrison), they are a very beatable team.
  17. Columbia Academy is very beatable if you can shut down their passing attack. We had them 22-21 with about 2 minutes left in the game, when out CB slipped in the mud and their #1 receiver pulled down a toss-up and ran it in for 6. We were driving but ran out of time around CA's 30. Our CB already had a couple picks and had shut them down all night until that one play. We have boon looking forward to the prospect of a rematch the rest of the season, provided we make it that deep.
  18. Before they changed it, I made plans to be in So. Pitt Thursday night. I may go Friday to watch CA and Copper Basin. How is Copper Basin's pass defense?
