  1. I just caught up on all the recent posts so I have a hand-full of points to make: 1. ref83 is just a jerk and possibly the most ignorant person I've ever come across. 2. POY should be Blevins. I agree with Hyperquick saying that if you take Blevins off that team, they would be very bad. Take Shepperson off SC and they are still very competitive in the district. Guffy is a great player on a great team, but you don't game plan for him like you do for Blevins. If anyone thinks that you don't gameplan for Blevins then you are sadly mistaken. Also, Blevins did have interest from good schools. I heard a rumor that he had a kid and wanted to stay close and that is why he chose tech. Just a rumor. Does anybody know if that is true? 3. COY should be Worsley at Magnet. Look at the difference from last year to this year. This is only his second year there too. Hats off to the work he's done. 4. DOY. That's a tough one. I don't have a strong opinion on it, but Huff's body type does allow him to gaurd people inside and out. Haven't watched enough SC games to really know though. 5. Man, some of you guys need a grammar lesson. Some of my spelling sucks but for the love of God learn when to use Their, They're, and There.
  2. I'm gonna go with: York over Cannon- York is just better, especialy at home. Smith over Livingston- Tough to pick. Only going with Smith because they are playing in Carthage. Upperman over Magnet- CM has never finished a game within 20 of Upperman. Macon over Dekalb- Dekalb is bad and Macon has some momentum coming into this one.
  3. LA blew out Magnet. CM is starting to look like the only reason they were good the first time through the district is because teams overlooked them. They still have to travel to York and Macon which will be tough to win, but they did beat them the first time. LA looks much improved and significantly more mature than they did a month ago. Smith barely escaped Cannon with a 55-52 W. Smith is so hard to figure out. One night they look like a team that belongs in Murfreesboro and the next they look like they can't get out of the region. As for Cannon, their losing streak now reaches nine games. They have lost a lot of close ones. They obviouusly have trouble closing out games, but they will improve on that as they gain more expirience.
  4. I'll agree on Smith and Upperman. I'm going to say the Macon is a negative though.
  5. If you are wanting to lisen to any more games, you can listen to any Central games, they are online at http://mixlr.com/cmsbasketball/ No account needed, the logo will light up red when we are live
  6. I think the top 6 all have a chance. York can win on Blevins alone, plus they have that kid that can shoot the three. Might be Baldwin (not positive on that name). Upperman will win or lose off of the three ball. Smith is loaded with playmakers. Macon has lacked consistency, but some nights they look great. If they get hot, they can win. Livingston is a solid team that can beat anybody on a good night (once again, if they get hot they can win). Central is the least likely, but they could win if they can avoid Upperman and if teams keep sleeping on them. I'm interested to see this team go through the District again though. They will either play better because their youth will have more expirience, or they will get beat bad because teams won't overlook them again.
  7. I agree with wateryturnip. You are making picks based off your heart rather than your head. LA over CC- No explanation needed. York over Macon- Macon's post play is just average and Blevin's will expose them. Upperman over Smith- Should be a great game. CM over DeKalb- Dekalb has not been close in district yet this year.
  8. York and Upperman are up there where they should be. I like seeing Smith tied for first, they have progressed quicker than many thought. Livingston isn't the same Livingston of old. Macon seems a tad bit overrated, bad loss last night to Magnet. Magnet has progressed quicker than many people thought also. Cannon should have beaten Upperman last night, could have been a fluke on both sides though. Dekalb is terrible.
  9. I've seen both teams play this season and Livingston is a good team, but Upperman is a very good team. Upperman can go to state. Livingston can put together a good run in the region. Upperman has the perimeter shooting much like Livingston, but Levy puts them on that next level. She's a natural playmaker and when she isn't having a good night, she still draws enough attention from the defense to free up her teammates. I'm not a fan of either team, I'm saying what I saw.
  10. Does anybody have an Upperman roster? Or does anybody have a link to one? It would be a great help. Thanks.
  11. Did he play football for Upperman this fall and will he play baseball in the spring? Just curious.
  12. From a distance it seems as if the only true threat for Dekalb is Ashli Chew. Who else do they have that can change a game?
  13. Did the radio for that game last night. I said it in my pre-seasonn prediction, they are much improved from last year. I'm not saying they are going to contend for a title, but if teams overlook them they can shock some people. Both of their freshmen played extended minutes and handled Cannon's press with ease. Martin, the big man for Cannon, was very good defensively and had a lot of rebounds, but Central's guys down low never let him get good looks at the basket on offense. In overtime, CM's junior PG, Partick Blair, really put the game away with the points to tie, go ahead, and free throws to finish it.
  14. Before district play starts, who has seperated themselves out as the best player on each team so far? Obviously Blevins at York, but who else?
  15. That's true, Smith is athletic and physical. Also, I wouldnd't jump to say that Dekalb will surely beat CM. Dekalb lost to Gordonseville by 12 while Central beat them by 7. I know that doesn't tell the whole story, but I think the CM vs Dekalb games will be good matchups.
  16. I agree that Upperman losing to Farragut isn't a shock. I expected Smith to at least be close to Mapplewood, but Maplewood is so athletic that sometimes they get the best teams. Wouldn't call CM beating Gordonsville a shock as CM is a little better this year and Gordonsville has absolutely no perimeter shooting. Macon beating Gallitin is a good win. I don't know anything about the Dekalb, York, or LA games. I think Cannon didn't play Tuesday either.
  17. Do you know the freshman's name that scored 23?
  18. Did Dekalb compete or was it pretty lopsided? I know the final score can be deceiving sometimes.
  19. Huff is good and he's strong. Hayden takes up space down low. And Massey can come in and hit big shots, but is a bit inconsistent. When the three of them are clicking, they will be a hard team to beat.
  20. How did all the games go around the district last night?
  21. No, I don't believe the two freshman will change the fortunes of the team and make them a legitimate 8AA force. I'm simply comparing two teams with low expectations and saying the two freshman will make them slightly better than another bad team.
  22. I understand the years past. I also understand this isn't a popular pick. Central played Dekalb tight last year for the first three quarters. The only difference is that Central gained a couple of young players, Birchfield and Carver, that can put the ball in the basket (something Central hasn't really had before). Dekalb on the other hand, lost Aaron Patterson who was not very good, but he was the life of that team. And did not make any big additions this year.
  23. I understand that I am a little late to the party, but I decided to throw in my two cents before the season starts tomorrow. Based on the past few years, here are my predictions for the district. Feel free to pick apart and question whatever you like. 1. Upperman- the way they shoot + the big kid from Clay County. Should be a good year. 2. Macon County- This is my ballsy pick. The are returning a lot and had solid athletic guard play this yar. Could have trouble stopping the big posts though. 3. York- Would put them higher because of Blevens, but their guards are just no good. They lost to Central Magnet last year. That tells me that this team isn't focused enough to be great. 4. Livingston- They will be a force on the perimeter, but losing Eldrige down low will be a blow. One thing I've leaned- never count out Livingston. 5. Smith- This team is young and good. They are one year away from exploding into a championship contender. 6. Cannon- They will be down this year after graduating the scoring prowess from last year. They will always give teams trouble with their multiple devensive looks though. 7. Central Magnet- Call me crazy! But Central has gained some good, young guard play and has looked descent in the summer and pre-season. The could split with Cannon and/or Dekalb this year. 8. Dekalb- If there is any hope for this team, please let me know.
