  1. Quite the year my Irish are having. Spanked Wilson Central, then bear Cleveland/Bradley/Baylor in the same weekend (without a full lineup). Followed that up this week by beating Baylor/McCallie/MBA within 48 hours of each other. Coach Simpson has put together a heckuva squad this year
  2. My Irish win 13 of 14 matches (!) to silence the Big Red at home. Ready to storm into Memphis and capture that region crown next
  3. Thanks for the thorough research, CBG. Would it be wrong to surmise that Bradley benefitted the most from the split?
  4. I seem to remember a certain Irish team running two of those programs out of the gym in the same weekend earlier this season so no, I would say neither of those two are the best "this year." And as others have noted, the split benefitted those programs immensely. I can only assume you've been following TN wrestling for the last five years or so
  5. Good start for the purple Irish! Happy to see them back in town
  6. Doesn't Bradley have open enrollment? Open enrollment + free education is just about as big an advantage as a school can have.
  7. No one at Father Ryan gets a "full ride." As a parent who has put multiple kids through the school, I can assure you that the financial aid available is minimal at best. I know the middle school program has tried to bring in multiple kids but the cost of attendance was too great. Being able to "go out and get" kids (as opposed to having to use the kids in your zone) is an advantage, but this is high school...no one (at Ryan at least) is giving or even offering full-ride scholarships to a 15 year old
  8. Certainly not taking anything away from Coach Smith, kudos to BC for capitalizing on a depleted Irish lineup. I don't think anyone here is making excuses, just injecting some much-needed context into the discussion. Will Bradley be at the Ryan Tournament? I'm sure Coach Smith would love an opportunity to makeup those 10 losses against the Irish starters
  9. Well sure, if you look at this tournament alone you get to ignore the 49-18 thumping the Irish gave Bradley a week ago. Again, this wasn't that "hyped up" Father Ryan squad, they started three JV kids and didn't even enter a 170 pounder. So to recap, a full-strength Bradley eeked out an 11pt (home) victory over a Ryan squad that was missing nearly a third of their starters.
  10. How dense can you possibly be? Please, show me the results of Ryan's matches THIS YEAR when they wrestled their full lineup against Bradley, Wilson Central, and Cleveland. You don't have to scroll far, I promise you. And as the poster above mentioned, Ryan was the only D2 school there, wrestled an incomplete lineup, and still beat 27 D1 schools. What an asinine line of logic you've displayed here.
  11. Again, they have beaten Wilson Central and Cleveland by 40+ and Bradley by 30. What is your point? Division II just means they are a private school, it has nothing to do with skill level. Is this your first year following TN high school athletics?
  12. And to the poster who suggested home field advantage may have come into play, I can only assume you are referring to the 195 match. My FaceTime view was admittedly not high quality, but that first stalling call sure seemed to come late. Was that par for the course all weekend?
  13. Where could one find "trackwrestling2"? Very frustrating trying to keep up with my Irish from Nashville this weekend
  14. Boy, the arrogance and short memories of some of the people on this forum never ceases to amaze me! In the past month, Father Ryan has SPANKED Cleveland, Bradley, and Wilson Central. This weekend, without even fielding a 170 and inserting not one, not two, but THREE JV wrestlers, the Irish easily snagged second. D2 is the "lesser" division? The embarrassing smackdowns Ryan has laid on multiple "top" D1 programs already this year seems to suggest the opposite.
  15. Chatt is only 30 miles from Cleveland. The same bias that serves to promote Baylor exists also for Bradley and Cleveland. What other reason but "bias" would there have been to put Bradley and Baylor ahead of the Irish? It certainly wasn't by way of "logic" or "reason"
  16. Not playing the victim, but for a defending state champion that returns six individual champions to be knocked down to 3rd in the initial ratings is evidence that the ole Chattanooga bias is still alive and well. Kudos to the coaches for quickly correcting this silliness
  17. What are you even talking about? You think one wrestler is a 43 point swing? Ryan was missing defending state champ at 120, didn't seem to bother them at all. A team that is affected by the absence of one wrestler is a mentally weak team that doesn't stand a chance with a full lineup or without
  18. Pat and the Irish run from nobody, this really needs to be put to rest. Probably wasn't as interesting as many had hoped. Purple Irish steamrolled everyone they faced, as I expect them to do the rest of the season.
  19. Don't believe that Irish lineup is even in its final form yet, as at least one Ryan starter did not make the trip...probably tough for Cleveland, Bradley, and Baylor to swallow, but I think Father Ryan hasn't nearly peaked yet
  20. Absolute shellacking. The atmosphere was unbelievable and the Irish came ready to wrestle. Looking forward to reading all the Chattanooga papers tomorrow when those stooges who ranked Bradley ahead of Ryan eat some crow.
  21. Why in the world are Father Ryan and Bradley in the same pool?

  23. Haha what a joke. Cleveland probably wishes Ryan hadn't showed up after the Irish dropped 50+ on them in their own house
