It is always hard to beat McMinn at McMinn, just like Rhea at Rhea. I think the Owls are up to the task. I don't see this team taking anyone lightly. Ooltewah wins, too many offensive weapons, Stengy defense.
This is their first year of TSSAA varsity football. They won their Jamboree but lost last week to Kings Academy 19-2, I think. They are a young football team with only a few seniors. I have not seen them play so I can't give you much of a scouting report.
stlrcoach - I saw on another thread were Cookeville is scrimmaging Oak Ridge this week, (friday?). Where and what time? Sounds like that might be a good to go see.
I know Ooltewah returns alot of starters. Cookeville last year, as I remember, played Riverdale a pretty close game in the playoffs. They actually scored on them, something most teams failed to do. What does Cookeville return this year?
QB? RB? Etc.
Cookeville did hit good tonight. I wouldn't say they "pounded" Higdon. He did give up some hits but his defense let him down a inning or two also. Ooltewah committed two errors in the inning that Bush hit the granny in. Cookeville made a few errors along the way but Ooltewah didn't seem to get as much out of their opportunities as the Cavs did. Cookeville is a good team, well coached. Good luck the rest of the way. We see them again on the 23rd.
Ooltewah only lost 2 players from last year's roster so there wasn't much room for sophmores this year. Not sure why Williams made it and Woods didn't, both are good young players. Colburn had Tommy John surgery hopefully he will return next year.
