  1. Agree cooter, I heard it too. What a Jerk!!!!!! I think the defense we changed to hurt us this year also. Monroe should have stayed with the 4-3, 4-4 like we ran against DB last year. Better yet he should have let Davis handle the Defense like Gatewood did. Monroe seemed to have his hands full just calling plays. I do think it will get better. Great season Owls, Get in the weight room next season starts Monday.
  2. I agree, I am very tired of hearing about how bad the secondary has played. The bottom line is we have not put pressure on anyones QB. Those DB's can't cover receivers for 10-15 seconds. If you give most QB's that kind of time we have been giving them someone will come open.
  3. That's they way it should be, you should not be playing a region opponent for at least three weeks or more. I like their Baseball set-up better also. Everything best 2 out of 3, not one and done like in Tennessee.
  4. I hate the travel associated with this region but I am glad we get to play top programs with tradition and good success. It has made Ooltewah football much better IMO. I do look for Friday's game to be a good one. Of course, I hope the Owls win. I don't expect anything less than a good hard fought game out of Farragut, they are a quality team. Unfortunately they got to play Oak Ridge after a shocking loss to Ooltewah. I think the Ads are a better team than they showed that night.
  5. I don't understand the numbers: Wins & losses????
  6. What about the Bears? Are they healthy? Can they slow Gulmire down because you cannot stop him?
  7. I like your idea. I don't want to hear anything about travel, Ooltewah has had to go to Kingsport two years in a row, about 4 hours. Both years, it was unfortunate they have had to play each other in the first round. I still think your way would be better than the current format. I like the nuetral field part also, maybe for the first two rounds. Then have the higher seed teams host a third or fourth round game. Could you imagine the excitment a two day four game site at MTSU, Vandy, UTC, Austin Peay, TN Tech would generate. Tha would be awesome for the early rounds and could probably minimize travel.
  8. Yes, Farragut has beaten the Owls twice since this region was re-aligned, last season and earlier this year. Both losses have really stuck in the crawl of the players on this team. I don't think they feel they have given their best effort in either of those games. I think they will get the "Monkey" off their back friday much like Peyton did last night. GO OWLS!
  9. After watching DB tonight, I agree not #2 or #3 but definately a top 10 team. Ooltewah now has beaten 3 top 5 team in 5A AP poll. I am not sure any other team has done that this year. Not that it means anything. Region 2 went 3-1 round 1, I say 2 Region 2 teams will play in the quarter finals in two weeks.
  10. Nothing bad to say about DB! Class act, good hosts, great tradition, just not the best team tonight. Now we are even after last year.
  11. Owls pass defense must improve! One thing that would help is some pressure on the QB. How about a Blitz or two?
  12. Central, Gordon Lee, Walker Valley, Sweatwater, and McMinn Central were the JV's. Bradley, McMinn, Cleveland, Soddy were the freshman teams, I think. Cleveland was the best freshman team we played, McMinn was probably the second best freshman team we played. Cleveland's freshman team was really strong, I think they beat your freshman team also.
  13. Yeah I am sure they remember Farragut, Blount, Oak Ridge etc. What's your point? Who does Soddy remember? Red Bank? McMinn? Farragut? Oak Ridge? Blount? As far as your last post, Dobbs is a good baseball player. He will probably play baseball at the next level. He has also shown that he probably would have had some choices other than baseball if he had played football before this season. JMO
  14. I have seen plenty of coaches talk their way into getting something called. That is not right either. You and I both know you could make a call of some kind on every play. I don't like it when one team gets called for 2-3 penalties in a game and the other gets 10-12 or more. These are the games that seem to get everyones blood boiling.
  15. I have explained it. Go back and read it. The problem is no tie breaking criteria was written down before all this happened. Again all the games that matter are the three previously mentioned. Example: If McMinn played the exact same schedule next year as they did this year and lost every game on their schedule except Bradley, Ooltewah and Soddy. McMinn would go to the Championship game. That is the way the Championship was set-up in the beginning. McMinn sees the best way for themselves, Ooltewah sees it the best way for themselves and Soddy sees it the best way for themselves. They could and have all come up with a senerio that justifies their own case. Like I said earlier, their will be criteria before the first game is played next year, not trying to figure it out after all the games were played like this year. Enjoy the game Saturday.
  16. I disagree, Dobbs might be a first year player but he is pretty good. Ricketts and Atchley are both very good recievers which probably has helped make Dobbs job much easier. I think the Owls "D" will rise to the Challenge also. Go Owls!
  17. I don't think they can make it through the second round.
  18. WHY HAVE THE FRESHMAN TEAMS NEVER PLAYED AN ENTIRE REGION SCHEDULE IN THE PAST? THERE WOULD BE NO REASON FOR A CHAMPIONSHIP GAME IF WE ALL PLAYED EACH OTHER. LIKE I SAID EARLIER THE CHAMPIOSHIP GAME WAS SET UP SO THE BEST NORTHERN TEAM COULD PLAY THE BEST SOUTHERN TEAM ON A SATURDAY AT A CENTRAL LOCATION. I AM SURE HERITAGE CANCELLED BECAUSE THEY DID NOT OR COULD NOT JUSTFY TRAVELING OVER TWO HOURS ONE WAY TO PLAY A FRESHMAN FOOTBALL GAME ON A SCHOOL NIGHT. DOESN'T MATTER NOW OUR COACH GOT TIRED OF TRYING TO WORK SOMETHING REASONABLE OUT WITH YOURS YESTERDAY. IT STINKS FOR OUR KIDS! THE MCMINN FANS NEED SOMETHING POSITIVE TO HAPPEN IN FOOTBALL AT SOME LEVEL, AFTER THE SEASON THE VARSITY HAS HAD. KEEP YOUR HEADS UP MAYBE THIS FRESHMAN TEAM WILL BRING THE WINNING TRADITION BACK TO MCMINN.
  19. There are too many if's to pick the games, Region 1 teams are pretty much set barring a major upset. Region 2 has several possibilities that you are not considering. #1 will be Farragut / Oak Ridge winner. If Farragut wins and Ooltewah wins then, Owls will be #2, OR will be #3 and Blount #4. If Farragut wins and Ooltewah loses, OR is #2, Blount #3, and Owls #4. If Oak Ridge wins, OR is #1, Farragut #2, Blount # 3 if they win, Owls #4. Owls would be #3 if blount loses and they beat Soddy. Really there is no way to predict who will play who til after the three games involving these four teams Friday night.
  20. That's all the history Oak Ridge and Ooltewah have, I think. We could not have played with them back in the early to mid 90's not to mention 70's and 80's. You have got to remember Ooltewah has not had a good football program for very many years. But since this region has been in exsistance they have held their own against the Cats. I think this game will be close. Farragut 24 - Oak Ridge 21, picking with my heart mainly. A Farragut win helps the Owls. Godd Luck to both teams.
  21. Cheorkee#1fan, let me educate you. This freshman region championship was set-up when this region was set-up several years ago. The best of the four northern schools (Farragut, Heritage, Oak Ridge, and Blount) is supposed to play the best of the four southern schools (Ooltewah, Soddy, Bradley and McMinn) for the region 2 5A freshman championship. The southern schools don't usually play the northern schools because of travel, it makes no sense for Soddy, Ooltewah etc. to travel to any of the northern schools for 3 plus hours for a freshman football game on Monday, a school night. Your games with Farragut, Blount, and Oak Ridge don't count as region games period. If you think they do why didn't you go to Heritage and play? If you were going to play everyone during the season there would be no reason for this champioship game. The game is at McMinn every year because it is the most central location to all possible schools. You are talking about something you know nothing about. This will be the last year that there will be no Criteria for deciding who plays in case of a three way tie, I can promise you that. No way should overall record have been considered with Ooltewah and Soddy playing JV teams in order to get games. They do it every year they have every year and they have never figured into these freshman standings. The only games that count are the Bradley, Ooltewah, McMinn, and Soddy games. The McMinn coach really should his butt in this deal. He ran the score up on Bradley this past Monday 55-0 and tried to use that score as a reason for McMinn to go play Saturday. Ooltewah and I'll bet Soddy didn't run the score up on Bradley. Ooltewah's starters did not play in the second half at all. Enjoy your game Saturday but don't think this will be forgotten. These type things have a way of coming full circle. Maybe they will have a concession stand this year or even Ref's, Ooltewah has played in this game every year it has been played except one. Several years they did not open the concession stand or have a PA and one year they had no officals. One last thing, you are not the Cherokees #1 Fan, TribeFan is and always will be!
  22. Your right, I was kidding! Don't get caught looking past Heritage, they would like nothing better than sending you guys to a 4th seed spot.
  23. Region 4 5A might have the best team in the state but region 2 5A is the best region in the state seed one thru four.
  24. Having seen both teams play. I think Oak Ridge is better but they are not as good as in the past two years. They are beatable, as happened tonight. The bad news for Farragut they still won't lose two in a row. I agree with your "Mad Wildcat" prediction.
