  1. No need to give up on the Bears and get critical. Next week will be beyond tough. But... if you told us we would be 7-2 after the Maryville game before the season I believe we would have all taken that. I understand frustration but some things are reality. The offense (like most offenses) is built around our best player- Copeland. He has the same impact on BC that Brady has on the Pats. That does not discredit our TEAM. And Cole has nothing to do with our outstanding Defense which once again played great last night. Stay positive and Go Bears!
  2. HV is a solid team. They played hard. The officials were indeed very one sided as to be expected in Knox Co. 3 sideline penalties all of which are when the ball is inside the 10 or 20 is super suspicious 40 yards from the action. Copeland means that much to the team. He was not the only loss tonight as others missed action with injuries. Congrats to HV
  3. Thanks to both of you- good info. We are loading up here shortly and heading that way. Good luck to your team tonight.
  4. I'm making a rare road trip to see this one tonight. Is this picture and description of HV accurate or a joke? Where do you suggest we park? Need a short walk if possible.
  5. Good win. DB is talented and the Bears defense had a hard time tonight. Bears must find a run game with a powerback that can get 3-4 yards when needed. Copeland took some shots tonight running the ball. He Needs some help. I'll take a win over a good team any way we can get it at this stage of the season. Go Bears!
  6. Love the local kids but this one could be tough on the boys in blue. Go Raiders anyway.
  7. Big game for the Bears. DB appears to be the best team on the schedule so far. How will the Bears handle a team that is possibly just as talented and seemingly well coached? This ole fella is excited to watch the Bears and not sweat all night! Thank God for some milder weather. Go Bears!
  8. Looking forward to seeing this game. May be the best game the Bears have had so far this year. The O line needs to do their job and allow a running game to get established early. Defense should continue to get penetration and stops. Go Bears!
  9. I agree on the stay healthy part. Both teams could still have a very successful season.
  10. Or could they both win. Good folks in both programs.
  11. Bye weeks are tricky. I think the Bears have improved each week and played their best game vs Jeff Co. Jeff Co is the best team we have played and our guys rose to the level of competition. I hope we haven't lost that edge over this off time. How healthy are we this week?
  12. I'm going to stick with Alt on this one. Too many good folks here in town with kids/ grandkids at our 3 HS. No hard feelings if I pull for CHS and WVHS 9 out of the 10 weeks. Ok with you Foose?
  13. Oh well. Foose should. We all need to support all our local kids. Good families and kids at all 3 HS in our county. Maybe we can get Foose to come on over to the dark side since we are all done playing each other.
  14. Plenty of gas left in that tank! Go Big Blue! Support the local kids.
  15. Bears looked the best they have all season. Early TD for Jeff Co without Jay P on the field and then a shutout after that. Disregard the fumble TD last seconds. Cole is clearly A higher level QB but good for him choosing a local school who by the way is pretty good. I agree he could play at a higher level conference.
  16. 2 good running teams. I respect both programs. Got to pull for the local boys in blue though. 31-17 CHS.
  17. Bears need to step up tonight and fight off the homecoming distractions. Need to stop the penalties and get focused. Jeff Co will be ready to play. Go Bears!
  18. Correct. Last year was not especially easy up there. Trailed late 3rd quarter but came back. I expect a physical game and hope we can get the running game going. If BC cannot shake these penalties and be more efficient in the red zone (actually inside the 10) some of these upcoming games will be losses. I believe the Bears will correct the mistakes and get it done 30-21. Go Bears!
  19. Champs- good stuff. I think CHS uses a different officials association than BC, WV, McMinn etc. I don't have an opinion on good or bad. It works both ways though. Officials associations have to work to keep the schools and their contracts each year thus the questionable calls. No doubt early on the game was incredibly one sided. Looked as though they were trying to even the numbers up after the game was out of reach. Through 3 quarters I believe CHS had more yards gained through penalties than they had total offense. Proud of our Defense! Go Bears!
  20. Physical is the right word. Bears were hitting and locking up. Big gap between these 2 teams.
  21. Well said! BC is lucky to have good coaches who are good people. I'll take Floyd, Freeman, Pastor Stevison and that staff anytime. Those guys work hard and are good for kids.
