  1. When we lost to McCracken Co 2 seasons ago, it was the first home loss for Mayfield since 2008 and it remains the only one since then. When it happened, they rushed the field like they had won a state championship. 6A school SHOULD beat a 2A every time but...
  2. http://www.unapproved website.com/news/OOP3pmYsjE-aHui3JlaU2g/top-50-winningest-all-time-high-school-football-programs.htm Add 13 more since this was written. 3 of the top 5 in KY. Yes, when you're looking at good competition for our Cardinals, you can't look local. McCracken Co is the toughest we play during the regular season... them and Corbin. Corbin is a consistently good program and it's always a great game that I hope we continue. The last few times we played Murray High, they got up early on us but halftime adjustments have shut them down. I'm looking forward to the UC games and I hope it continues as well. Quality opponents (for both teams) are important and this should be a great rivalry.
  3. Yes, we win some basketball games over here too.
  4. OOOO this is gettin' good! I like it! Hey can I post a video on here? Or is this some of that low-tech TN stuff?
  5. Wish we could play the 8th grades this year! I think it has been discussed.
  6. I heard there are some new injuries for the UC boys? I hope not.
  7. A little insight from a Mayfield Middle School Football dad: The incoming freshman class has always been small in number but huge in talent. They had 2 undefeated seasons - one of which they allowed 0 scored against them. They won 90% of their games from 3rd through 8th grade. Last year there were 3 season-ending injuries that dictated they use some 7th graders (that team is huge and have also been successful). The incoming 7th grade is also small in number but after that (younger classes), well, the elementary and the middle school have both been expanded to accommodate a huge influx of new students. Two teams have been fielded for one of the younger classes in the past couple of years. When the incoming 8th graders were in 6th, they played Union City and it was a heckuva game! UC won on a last second pick 6 but it was close and well played by both teams. One difference in the two because of rules: Ky rules have a weight limit to run the ball and Tn does not. The heaviest runners MMS had faced were 125 lbs max (135 w/gear) and the 173 lb RB almost did us in early! On the varsity game this year: about time! Mayfield needs quality opponents early in the season and UC will provide that... no doubt! We're all looking forward to the visit.
  8. Thanks for saying! My son played on that 6th grade team. Tough, tough game! The RB's for the UC team were a LOT bigger than what our kids were used to as we have a 135 lb limit including gear in order to run past scrimmage. Loved watching that game! The kids from UC were well spoken of by our boys. Hope to play more UC!
