  1. Has there been anymore talk or voting going on to support the merge or has it been rejected yet?
  2. Day two is coming to a close. Any updates on who has applied or interviewed yet? I am still sold on their minds being made up, but I have been wrong more than I have been right.
  3. Which paper did you read that about Loudon in? From the way it sounds, they have taken over a month to start interviews, but plan to take only a week to decide on a coach? They already know who they are going to hire (which I believe) or they are just that big of a mess. Either way, I hope that deadline is the correct one. As far as the QB transfer, that could be a game changer depending on how well he fits in with the team and the system or how they can make it fit around him.
  4. I wish you all had information like this regarding the future coach of Loudon Football lol. Not sure they have made any steps forward in the progress to find a new coach. It is just odd that over a month has gone by and nothing has been done.
  5. How young is MC going to be? And for those that know more about the Redskins, are they rebuilding and young or will they have some upperclassmen take charge? I have heard it was the coaching that caused them to be so bad and I have heard it was because of lack of talent. Just curious to see opinions on this. The Redskins 's Warriors game might have a field full of young players on both sides.
  6. Do you think the new facilities going up in Clinton Will cause kids to transfer or to begin their high school career there, more so than other local schools?
  7. They basically wasted a month? The job has been open for about a month and no interviews have been done yet? Not sure the thinking behind that one. Every minute counts when it comes to preparing kids. If Harig doesn't get it, is there anyone else they are talking about getting it anyone that might be interested? Does anyone know if any kids have recently transferred from Loudon to another school because of their current situation?
  8. It would still be a long bus ride. Using Google maps, it can take between 25-30 minutes from Oliver Springs to Kingston, which is near the center. That doesn't include all the bus stops. Add those in, and kids would be on a bus for an hr or more. Then for Oliver Springs, you have Oak Ridge 10-15 minutes down the road and for Midway about 8-10 minutes further to Loudon than Kingston High School, but depending where the new school is located it could be more even. Than parents would start debating on which school is better for their kids. Oak Ridge would have less students than the new school.
  9. If they didn't have coaches with good resumes apply after Harig's last year, I am curious to see who puts in for it now. It is a shame there isn't transparency in applicants when schools are hiring for coaches, given That a coach did not request it be kept private.
  10. Even rwo big schools would be more reasonable. Divide the county near the river or interstate. That would pair up Oliver Springs, Harriman, and part of Kingston, while the South would combine Rockwood, Midway, and part of Kingston as well. If they stick with one school, I believe a decent amount of students living near the county line would try to go outside of the county for school.
  11. If it is basically a deal, why not get him in there as quick as possible? I am sure there are some regulations on having the job posted for a certain amount of time, but the longer they push back the inevitable the less time he has to implement his changes and the less time kids have to learn and adapt. Is there a chance at all for anyone else? And with the rumors of Roane County merging schools, is there a chance kids will be transferring to Loudon?
  12. What are the odds of this actually going through? I have seen a petition floating around against it?
  13. Has there been any rumors of people applying yet or any interviews?
  14. Have they set up their spring practice schedule already? I know with a new coach that could be altered some and have they released their upcoming season schedule? Also, how about the rumor to the coach going to Bearden? If he is there wouldn't that out a wrinkle in what many believe will happen?
  15. Has there been a timetable in which they want to have a new coach or are they set on hiring the previous coach back?
  16. As of this article, it's not a fine deal. To me combining all schools is a bad idea. Possibly creating 2 schools would be better, but the cost to build the schools would be high. I think it would take a while to get the rivalry aggression out. That would lead to a lot of issues between students. http://1057news.com/roane-county-school-board-votes-to-consolidate-to-one-high-school/
  17. I am curious when he took that position or is that still a rumor? If he did take it, did they have a teaching spot open at Bearden as well?
  18. So possibly put West in the same situation as it has been the last two years? People wanting the new coach gone and not having full support of the system, staff, and community? They have time for a head coach decision, however they should have a strength coach and other coaches that can put the players through workouts and continue to prepare them physically regardless of who the next coach is. If the admin can't get the staff to buy into what the new coach is bringing to the table, West will be in a similar situation sooner than later. Which will continue to cause the program to decline with its instability. I understand the new coach needs to communicate with the other coaches and make sure everyone is on the same page and understands the new system. But there is time for that.
  19. Me too, a nice coaches bonding experience to help them find a common ground would do wonders. I also don't mean for it to sound like all the assistants need to give in and the Head Coach not listen at all either, for them to be successful he needs to hear them out as well (not saying either side completely ignores the other) because those coaches have been around and know them kids and have for a while. This could be said for any head coach taking over a program. For a smooth transition a head coach needs the help of assistants to be able to communicate with the players and community. Then again, it is easy to say this or that needs to be done, being a coach in the stands!!
  20. As far as available coaches, Charlie Strong should be available soon ha.
  21. I doubt he would either, but some people have their school colors run very deep in their veins lol. I don't want it to sound like any of the assistant coaches came in there and shot the head coach the middle finger or anything like that. They are great coaches and great people. So I want to clarify that. I guess a small example (not as extreme) would be Remember the Titans with Coach Boone and Coach Yoast, and I don't mean the racial tension or anything like that. Game management was a big problem and that falls on the head coach and the communication with other coaches. If he is given another year, I hope the coaches have some kind of sit down to figure out how to get the most out of these players and each other. If things start to click it could be a good year. I am hopeful however, that regardless of the future changes that west will do much better next year.
  22. I know the assistants were left there to help with transition, but it still left a bad taste in some mouths. But you are a rare breed. From all levels of football, people tend to be a little less understanding than yourself, when it comes to hiring a coach that people didn't want as a replacement. Hiring Coach Jones at Tennessee is a good example of that, fans were so upset that Tennessee didn't push harder for Gruden. Unfortunately there aren't enough good people/fans like yourself that will try to be optimistic and fully supportive of a transition like the one that occurred at West. I have a gut feeling that after the holidays, there will be some changes made. Not saying head coaching position, but things will be adjusted. With Cummings somewhat struggles in Cleveland, I am curious if he will return in the future. I am sure the money is good in Cleveland, but his success and connection with West seems like it would be inevitable.
  23. This is a perfect example of one of the issues at West. From day one, the Head Coach has dealt with the lack of support from some of the other coaches. Sure they were there and coaching, but it was easy to identify that they did not fully support the coach. The players seen it and knew as well. Sure the Head Coach could have came in there and approached it a little differently, however, if he doesn't have the support of the staff it will make being a good coach at any school difficult. I have seen them play and agree there are some decision making issues but if you believe that is the only issue that West has, you are rather blind or part of the problem. I honestly think it would be best for both the Head Coach and West to part ways. I do enjoy how you rant and make it seem as though coaches from lower division schools are so clueless to how offenses and defenses should be ran. If someone told you Cummings was a bad coach and Cleveland should let him go, you would most likely call them crazy, even if the 2 seasons he has had with them has been worse than those going all the way back to 2011. I am by no means calling Cummings a bad coach, he was a great fit at West and I believe things will get better at Cleveland for him, there are some athletes coming up in the future years. Watching West play, it is easy to see that they have lacked some strength and movement on the offensive line and injuries have hurt them tremendously. Is this an excuse to have any type of poor game management or bad decision making not at all. If the Head Coach decided to use the best players to build offense first and leave the others to build the defense, would they have been as good? This is also not to try and take anything from the other coaches, because there are some great coaches on staff, and maybe it would have made more sense to try and hire within to keep the support of the players, other coaches, and the community. I do believe that the time is near, where you will be able to log on and comment on the next West coach and how you think that one was also a poor hire, especially if it isn't one of the previous coaches, that was part of the championship team. As I said before, I believe it would benefit both if the Head Coach could find another coaching position and West could be on the look out for a coach that could get the full support of the staff, players, and community. I do understand why you are upset and do not blame you one bit. Watching West get a championship only to be followed up by shameful seasons angers me as well. I hate it for the kids that have worked so hard, only to see what they help build crumble. I am just trying to be more reasonable and see it with open eyes instead of a bias.
  24. Just to clarify, I didn't mean any of them were bad coaches, just how unsure how the chemistry is between them (could be great). I completely agree about them being good coaches, I also agree that they couldn't control the injuries and players getting in trouble. The injuries for both this season and last hurts a lot, and coming off a previous championship team, I am sure it is hard for fans to understand and settle for anything less. I'm not sure how much influence the community has on the head coach's job at west, but I hope that they try to give full support and have faith, even through the hard times.
