Sirmixalot-thanks, it's been well established that rankings mean nothing (as long as your team is highly ranked) and you have to beat the man to be the man etc etc etc. But until those matches happen I have to do something to pass the time and I choose to debate said rankings with my fellow Coachtians.

No I don't think Halls beats Cleveland or Bradley, but I think they are a top 5 team and will beat some of the others such as WC, Soddy, maybe even Beech.

I did an GaranimalHouse type analysis and I have concluded the following: WrestlingGoob is highly impartial to Summit. After further review, Summit is overrated. They won't make top 10. I believe you are overlooking two teams though. Halls returns a lot of manpower and they are quietly laying in the weeds just waiting to knock off these Top 10 posers. I'm not sure they will get to Cleveland (as we all know they are now unbeatable - Moleskin has them rolling) but they will send Soddy & Wilson home crying to their respective mommas. And btw I hear some of those mommas in Soddy are country huggables. Tennessee put the smack down on Arlington last year at duals (what? this guy talking bad about Arlington) and as many have speculated on here, might have actually been the number two. It appears they return most of their firepower. I'd say they lambast the Wildcats again this year.

And one loss to an Arlington team that your same group failed to rank. Mt. Juliet, Halls, Blackman, MBA and others are well ahead of your Legacy ranked team.

Hamm I'd take note of the strong performances of a few Stewart's Creek guys at the Indian Classic. That tournament seems to be one of the strongest in the state. A load of competition there Jalen James 8th @ 126 Carson Helton 7th @ 132 beat 4th ranked Azima Jason Chambers 4th @ 152

Why do you feel that Mt Juliet is not top 12? Do you really think they're behind WV, SH, Alcoa? I'd say maybe behind Halls but not sure even there. And mark my words, you're vastly underestimating The Bros.

Will this earn Arlington a spot in the Coach's poll? Also, I told you FR wasn't the team to beat in D2 this year. Apparently not nearly as strong as everyone thought. (Ok, so now lets hear the obligatory: "FR won't look anything like they do currently when February rolls around, Simpson will have them ready when it counts...") Using your example, If you would have given Hixson 18 of SD points it would have still been 44-27. Hardly a close match. So yes, I'd be making the same argument. Not sure why you're taking it personal, this is a forum to discuss and debate, stop being so dang sensitive!!

I feel like Soddy was given a little too much, I don't think they are ahead of Beech. I believe Christian Bros should jump to #2 soon. McCallie is still a question. Wilson should have dropped further with 2 dual losses to teams who were ranked behind them. Tennessee High is still TBD--they haven't faced any competition yet. Science Hill should have dropped further with only an 11th place finish at Southern Slam. Halls placed 9 wrestlers top 3 at the Catholic Invitational and they dropped in ranking? Still no respect for West TN in AAA.

Maybe all 3 are overrated. We will see soon when they meet up with Bradley. Also, just want to mention that Arlington was 4th at Black Horse, only 5 points behind Beech. And The Bros also had a great showing at 2nd.

Again, to my original point. Yes, these teams have a history of winning but it does not mean they are the top every single year. Creating a ranking based on historical, aka legacy rankings can be inaccurate. The ranking, as someone so eloquently put it yesterday (was that you ArtisSimba), should be earned, but I will add, earned on a yearly basis, not simply on reputation. No one will give Independence or Arlington a shot because they haven't historically been at the top, it's a risky venture to go out on a limb and make the call. Kind of like picking the Panthers to win a Super Bowl. I will also agree with PA Guy that there are other teams that deserve to be in the discussion.

BUT the big difference is what I posted is one mans opinion. The coaches poll is a group opinion, which I would think would be more accurate.

Now my feelings are hurt. No one is coming to my defense. It's ok, I stand by the Arlington pick, they're not full strength yet.
