Community is the only one I would question. That would be a long haul for JC.

Pretty much the same distance for Sequatchie as well. Right about 2 hours. Does Community have the stadium to seat people now ? When they played Sequatchie, in 2013 I believe, I remember fans having to bring chairs to sit in.

Crazy things can happen in the playoffs. Didn't Whitwell go in as a 4 seed and knock off a number one last year? I think Gordonsville was number 3 and beat Basin too.

I think the Basin and Clay game will be a good one.

Whitwell and Gordonsville both had teams that kids had played in a lot of playoff games compared to Monterey and Copper who had been beat in the 1st round every year or not made the playoffs. Experience makes a huge difference. Whitwell seniors had played in over 50 games in HS.

could you be more specific with what you mean?  I'm curious, if York goes 2A what do you think and if they go 3A how do you think it plays out

York going to 2A could not only force Meigs down to Region 3 again but could get rid of the current region York is in. Upperman going to 4A could send Grundy and Sequatchie to region 3 with Red Bank also going to 4A

  4. There is absolutely no reason why Whitwell shouldn’t be playing Pitt twice every year. Everyone in the valley knows that this staff was not the first, second or even third choice.  Meigs exposed some “weaknesses” in Pitt but I don’t think any 1A schools can do it.

Yes and his analysis is correct my point is year in and year out on our side of the state. Those teams who have won were 1 and done SP and GB have been in the drivers seat for multiple years.Union City was that kind of team also.2018 was an anomaly.lol.Devine intervention they won on the field no doubt but they were not the better team.Lucky yes!!!

Luck is where preparation meets opportunity

  6. Down year for the region. Sequatchie fumbled 5 times last night. Same thing that cost them the Marion game. Region 3 may sweep the first round. Upperman should still win the region again. Only question is can Signal or Brainerd win at Upperman in round 1

    Let's see...

South Pittsburg 1A, 46 Sequatchie Co ZERO

Marion County 3-7 last year, 35 Sequatchie 26

Get back to us when Sequatchie County  wins a game.

Should beat Cannon, but wins for Sequatchie will be far and in between this season unless something drastic happens.

  8. Have seen both Bledsoe and Marion. Bledsoe should win that matchup for #2. Marion is better but a year away from competing. They will be 3-0 facing Pitt but that game will be a humbling experience. The rest of the Warriors season will be based on how Coach Pruitt gets them to respond.

From what I have gathered, The Palmer situation is strictly personal, but Shelbyville was not willing to deal with it.  Happens a lot.  As far as Whitwell is concerned, Palmer is very much in play.

Whitwell will not go with Palmer. Situation seems to much like Malone. CB will more than likely be the HC at Whitwell

Two bad places to play and gate will be down. Either South Pittsburg, Jasper, Or Sequatchie should rotate every year bc by far the best places to host .

Pitt and Jasper aren’t much better than Whitwell. Absolutely no parking at either one. It was purposed before that Sequatchie host every year. Best stadium, best seating and most parking of all the valley schools. I believe before long it will be the annual host site

I’m playing devils advocate here. Don’t take this the wrong way but did Whitwell get some transfers in those grades? SP has beat them unmercifully in middle school the past 6 years. Again I’m just asking since you mentioned that about the current 10,9, and 8th grades.

No transfers but there is talent there, Whitwell middle school administration doesn’t care at all about athletics unfortunately.

Just my opinion...but people need to look at a few things before considering any coaching job. 1. Talent 2. Tradition 3. Community support.

With that said, the next coach that walks into Whitwell will have none of the three.

Everyone in whitwell knows talent  Isn’t there this year. The next group of kids will be sophomores, freshmen and in 8th grade. That is Whitwells next “window”. Your right Whitwell doesn’t have the tradition, but administration didn’t want to see what was started fall off back to “same ole Whitwell”. If JC is named I guarantee the community support is there. Most are trilled of the possible hire. They know what he did with the defense while there. This year for Whitwell will be building for the future.
