    I met Batman in person at D-B. I think we were going through the gate and I picked him out. I can't remember how it went down exactly, I think he had given out a description or something.

    Yep, you walked right up and I heard someone say " Batman". I was ready to either say hi or try and miss a punch, ha .Was a good night and got to meet a bunch of your fans . Like Alcoa fans,just a very smart football fan base and good guys { and gals}

    The Devils are capable of winning this game but I have to give the edge to Alcoa.I don’t give my name on here but I would if somebody had to have itIts lawnman because I have mowed and landscaped for 37 years and yes I am getting old!!

    Ha,I can tell you that putting your name on here brings out all the toughest guys behind a computer keyboard ! After the better half kept on me about changing it,I figured with her name being Robin,Ha, I would just roll with Batman. She wasn't amused but I still think it's funny.There are a lot of great fans on here and it has been awesome to travel to places like Alcoa or Maryville and meet many of you.Lawnman, I've always enjoyed reading your post.I'll always pull for Elizabethton or whoever goes west if it's not Greeneville.

    Several of us plan on heading your way early. If there is some place you recommend to meet and eat, we would definitely enjoy it. Haven’t heard from BVD. Hope he’s doing okay. :thumb: Batman, GDA, GG, Swipes and anyone I might be missing, hope to see y’all!!

    Wish I could be there but my schedule is just not good this year,could have had a chance had it been on friday but still not a 100%  deal. I hope you guys have a great trip up to Greeneville and it's a super football game with both teams leaving healthy.As every time the Devils line up against Alcoa, I expect it to be a very tough game and I hope it's one that will help both programs when the playoffs get here.

    Would this be a LC  story?

    It's very possible but I 100% can't say it was,Been a long time since I heard it. I seen a lot when he was an old man to know anything wasn't out of the question.Nobody messed with him even when he was in his 60's and older

  5. Nobody likes the way this one ended but I also understand the factors for the decision.I'm an old school guy but someone who played way back in the fifties told me the best lightning story when it came to the Devils. Back then,men were men as they say and the Devils were practicing with a very tough coach leading them as it poured rain and lightning all around.The old timer said the coach wasn't fazed until a lightning bolt actually hit the field .The coach still spinning his whistle said nothing and just pointed towards the dressing area off the field and the players all ran for their lives,ha. I imagine the coach slowly walked behind them ....Had he been in charge last week, we would have probably seen the end of the game,one way or the other .

    This probably won't be very popular but I think its time to move on and give the sophomore the reigns and I'm not taking anything away from #10 he is an outstanding kid

    This is why I wish none of the players should ever get on coacht . Whoever daddy is will be here soon , and none of us dads or former players dads like myself should probably ever be on here as well . Ha , I guess that would leave a bunch of mad lady’s fighting about moms boy !

  7.  A few things came out of this No contest game  . Greeneville has some work to do but gained a lot of valuable film going forward . Same for Dobyns Bennett , also don’t think DB can go a complete season and not have better luck in the way they have started these first two games. For Greeneville , I was just thinking that the  Elizabethton games this year will probably again be who makes the best adjustments from the regular season matchup and then the playoff rematch . Right now, after two games the Devils might be the first game underdog  when they play but who knows when it’s win or go home. Yeah , I’m purposely not factoring in AC or any other team and like a few years ago with  Greeneville and the top two Knoxville teams,  it could end up being a surprise team that sends everyone home .

  8. Batman’s two cents worth and I’ll be all over the place since I’m a Devil who raised a couple of Indians .At this point we don’t know how good either team is after just one game.I always told my sons that no matter what Greeneville brings , you know it’s at least going to be one of the hardest hitting teams you will probably face. I listened to both teams games last week as best that I could. I enjoyed hearing one of my all time favorite DB coaches ,Michael Holt on the radio. Coach Holt reminded me of myself back in the day and he said the same at one of our first times meeting. It was down in Sevierville for a B team game . He and Teddy Gaines were the coaches  and ” One “ of his players had forgotten their playing pants . Anyway, it was a tough loss for the Tribe last week but I would say the Devils had better be prepared for a war at J Fred tomorrow night.Seen that the Devils are ranked number one in at least one poll. Tribe fans know all to well what those rankings will get you come playoff time .Never forget the 2008 season  . On a positive note, this game is great for both programs to get better and prepare for the playoffs .

    Alcoa would not go through 4A like they do 3A. Greeneville and Betsy would be a much tougher quarterfinal game. Alcoa would absolutely win state championships at the 4A level but they would also get beat by either or both of those teams from time to time. Don’t believe they win 8 in a row in 4A. But they still win a lot!!!

    I don't know how many out of eight Alcoa would win,but I guarantee you my Devils or Elizabethtown wouldn't be nearly as comfortable about their own chances of ever winning another gold ball with Alcoa waiting instead of Anderson county for the second or third round matchup.
