A lot can happen in 4 years..... that coaching staff may be gone.... if they are, do those kids stay? Pump the breaks

Absolutely correct in that alot can happen in four years. Who knows, current coaching staff could very well leave for whatever reason(s), but it would take a massive exodus of their incoming MS kids and elementary kids for their program to take a nosedive.

*Disclaimer* I have zero affiliation with Cleveland wrestling aside from my kids occasionally going to some wrestling camps there. However, this is what I've seen with MY OWN EYES.

The culture around Cleveland/ HC wrestling with community support, parent(S) that are all-in in addition to being very knowledgeable about the sport, kids who love wrestling and great coaches who put in a tremendous amount of time with their kids during the season as well as the "off-season" is UNRIVALED in Tennessee! The closest thing that I can think of would be Murvul football during their peak or maybe Alcoa football. Wrestling wise, it would be Union Co KY wrestling. With the culture that's currently in place and if their MS kids stay thru HS, they will win state duals this season as well as the next 4 years. If the club kids stay there, the streak goes to 12-15 years. I know that's a VERY long way out, but that's what I see when attending youth tournaments. IMO, last season was the yr to end their streak and Summit was probably a 106 that transferred out away from doing it, but it didn't happen.

Mater Dei will have kids that are not ranked in Indiana that place high this weekend.

Absolutely CORRECT! THe majority of EMD's studs are smaller guys.  However, they do have a few middle-weights and smaller big guys that are good wrestlers too and will place.

Your 4th grader has a long time before he is even relevant in the conversation. Bradley will figure it out by then.

Barring SEVERAL transfers to BC today and looking forward the next 4 or 5 years, Cleveland's entire starting lineup would have to be sick or injured on the same date they wrestle for BC to even COMPETE. Now we have reached the point that puts Trey and his friends in HS. That group of kids have already been traveling, competing and doing well in national tournaments for several yrs. So you're saying that BC is gonna have an entire room of kids that will beat what Bosken, Knox and company have in their pipeline.?? I'm with Trey, just dont see it happening for a long time. Sure, BC will be able to develop a couple of studs. But there will also be some shetland ponies and a couple of jackasses too. Higher Calling and Cleveland already have SEVERAL thoughbreds in the stable that will only continue to get better.

I’m a little surprised Eastside is in contention. If you look at prep slam they were a distant 3rd despite Buford having only having 11 and Baylor 10

To be fair to both teams, Eastside is a more rounded team from top to bottom, while Baylor is definitely stacked thru the middle of the lineup. Baylor has some VERY HEAVY hitters throughout the middle that limits most teams ability to score at an individual tournament. Truth be told, Baylor scored what they scored with 10 and would've scored abt the same if they had brought 14.

Eastside has half their lineup in the semis today and will do good to walk away with more than 2 champs. Both of those 2 champs are right in Baylor's meatgrinder and would get taken out.

The Raney brothers are tough! Pinned one of the Mccallie “8th graders” fast.

When will Tran be back in Father Ryan’s lineup?

Villars wrestled a very good, even if it wasnt long, match. He just got caught by an ELITE wrestler. He didnt back down for a second! I think Villars finishes that takedown on all but 2 kids (both have the last name Raney) in the building, one being a 4X Fargo Champ and the other being a U17 WORLD CHAMP! He just happened to be wrestling the U17 World Champ. Way to come out and wrestle hard Dylan, regardless of who the opponent was!

I appreciate the work but there must be less focus on small school rankings.

I see 3 kids that have dropped weight classes,  one of them on Dec 16th at Bruise Brothers.

Other misses are a kid that went 1-3 (all by fall)  at the Soddy Showdown.

I'd really start paying attention to the Levell kid at Clinton, a transfer this year from Kentucky.

You referring to Dameion Leavell (sp?) from Christian Co KY? If so, yes, he could very well place in small school. I haven't seen the kid in a couple of years, but if he's progressed like he should have, I would be surprised if he didnt place.

  7. Obviously, this is without seeing any brackets, seeding or knowing what other teams are in this tournament so I'm I'm DEF shootin' from the hip. A private school, Cleveland (if they come), Eastside SC or another outta state kid could throw a wrench in my predictions but her they go.

113- Workman beats all guys listed and it's not close!

126- of guys listed, Jayden Raney majors, techs or pins way to finals, especially if he keeps his foot on the gas pedal. Maybe someone not listed gives him a match.

132- Jarvis/Roark semis match should be a good one. Winner gets Jordyn Raney in finals

138- Is Damen Pullen not here??

144- Desselle wins against Hunter Jenkins from Union Co in finals if Jenkins dont get seeded 4th. Jenkins is as strong as an OX and not a bad wrestler either.

150- Leach and Chancery in the finals

175- semis and finals gonna be fun

190- same as 175, gonna be some men here!

    After day 1

    132-

Semis- Jarvis Little will face 2x Michigan state Champ Cameron Chinavare (Dundee HS)

    144-

Semis- Landon Desselle will face Nebraska commit and #7 ranked (flowrestling) Omar Ayoub (Dublin Caughman)

    150-

Semis- Brayden Leach will face Michigan state runner up Mason Stewart (Detroit Catholic Central)

All three have wreslted very very tough today.

Same kid Jarvis smoked at Grappler last yr?? If yes, I hope Jarvis don't overlook him trying to "get a shot at the title" w/ Blaze.

I don't have a dog in this fight nor do I know each team in depth but from my perspective

McCallie pins at hwt, 215, 190 and probably 175.

FR Dec at 165 and pins at 157.

They trade Dec at 150 and 144.

138, 132 and 126 are pins for FR.

McCallie pins at 120 and at 113.

    FR with 6 at 106.

Close enough that if someone gets unexpectedly caught it could mean the difference.  Am I close?

Personally I think it's a close match if all are healthy. I think MC wins majority of lighter weights and probably all upper weights with FR dominating middle weights. Just dont see Tran, when healthy again, pinning Lane at 106 and dont see Flint or even Calvin (does he go 120) pinning Villars at 26. Am I missing something?

Yeah, was super weird and if I’m not mistaken that kid he pinned was a 2 time state champ from Georgia who is a senior, or maybe my info is wrong

According to track, McElligot won the Georgia 6A 113lb championship last season and made it to the 5/6 match his sophomore season at 113 as well where both he and his opponent DFF the match. Either way, great "exhibition" win for Villars and sounds like it was total domination too!

  11. Congratulations Dylan on winning the McCallie tournament.

Matt, placing at Ironman is an exceptional achievement. Every year there are many very talented wrestlers who dont make it to the podium here. Great job and Congratulations!

Madison, I'm happy to hear you defied the odds and are able to still compete and do something you enjoy. Congratulations on placing at the state tournament last season!

Everyone here hating on kids achievements, Congratulations on receiving your high school diploma!

  12. Not a fan of either team but the irony of this game is the PC special teams allowed Upperman to return a KO return for a TD after PC's first score, then allowed Upperman to recover the onside which allowed Upperman to steal a possession which all but tied the game. However, it was Pearl's special teams (hands team) which sealed the victory for them in the end. Great game by both teams and CONGRATULATIONS to both squads on an excellent season!

Bradley (in my opinion) is by far the best team this year Oakland will face…

BS23, you have a right to your opinion but thinking the Oakland faithful will politely disagree with it. Cant believe none of them have reminded you of the Trojan Horses they witnessed early this season.

    Wolverine

Quite possibly the easiest commit the UM staff will ever receive! Bormet and staff just had to pretend they were interested and Cooper was gonna be a Wolverine. Congratulations Coop!!!

  15. Max dominated his finals opponent. Kid tried to tap out for abt 20 seconds and neither the ref nor Max were having any part of it. That being said, Max had a very tough road to even get to the finals. IMO, both of Max's quarters and semis oponents would have beaten his opponent in the finals as well. Great job Max!

JoJo smoked everyone in his path thru the semis, wrestled a very smart match in the finals and did an excellent job of scrambling to not give up a takedown on several occasions. Burnett is a very tough kid but it was JoJo's day to be the dog. Great job JoJo!

  16. Arthur is DEF an ER fan! Matter of fact, he may be the biggest fan in Cross Plains. And I can tell Arthur finally got to have his meeting in the spring with Coach Brooks and the staff. This years version of the Indians are different (in a good way) and have played well so far. What you will see this season is not a coincidence. Coach Brooks ran his off season program exactly how Arthur recommended and is finally running the plays that Arthur told him would work!

P.S. Arthur, figured you outta know that a few of us RobCo fellers did the neighborly thing and made sure Mrs. Margaret didn't want for nothing while you were out of commission! I'm thinking she may have grown up in Monterrey bc she's DEF a "wildcat"!

Once again Baylor wrestling gets to by pass every rule on recruiting for athletic purposes and prior contact between coaching staff with athlete.

    First 2 are honest questions

Fairly certain I know the answer to the 2nd two, especially the last one!

    1) What rules "if any" were broken?

    2) Is this the only time this has ever happened?

    3) Who do you expect to "police" these actions and enforce the consequences if there were to be any?

    4) Who pays for any legal fees that are incurred during this process if someone were to challenge a decision that was made?

**if a person or entity's answer to question #4 is "I don't know", then that MUST AND WILL be their answer to question #1 as well. Just my $.02

From what I understand Cooper had a visit that weekend.

Gotcha. Thank you for the info. Guessing we couldn't find anyone else to wrestle in Cooper's place? Not sure how big he is now but Reep comes to mind right off the top of my head.?  Or was there not anyone else that could offer a competitive match? Asking bc I dont know how good this kid is, just heard he had transferred from Ohio (I think) and was going to Baylor. I guess what I'm asking anyone who has seen this kid wrestle is Cooper the only kid in the state who can compete with Hart??

Fargo nose Booger nose what was gonna happen. Booger is usually better than Mrs Cleo on his truth tellin and predictions. Fargo was hoping for a little closer game from the TN team but looks like IMG had a lot more throughbreds in their stable. Kudos to the LA team for playing this game!

One of my buddies @FargoStrutcame in from across the state to see it with me last year. He's seen rivalries all over the Midstate and some out west and I'd say he'd agree with you RR. There's nothing like it...

That's right Samson! I've watched Beech/Gallatin a couple times, Beech/Hendersonville, LA/CPA twice, White House/Portland, PC/EN twice, BA/MBA and Oakland/Riverdale just to name a few of the larger mid-state rivalry games I've went to over the past 5 or 6 yrs. Those are ALL great rivalries but none of these games should even be in the the same conversation as the Alcoa/Maryville game.  And I'm a Mid-Tenn guy.

FWIW- best bands I've seen are Whitehaven and then PC!

  21. Victor Voinovich just announced yesterday he was leaving OK St and headed to Iowa. Wrestled at 149 last yr and made Rd of 16. Went 17-13 with 10 losses by 2 pts or fewer. Has 3 yrs of eligibility left. Coincidence? Serious question.
