For all you SG people making the trip. Jacob Myers is another good place to eat, and if you’re making the day of it, stop on top of the mountain at Oren Wooden’s Apple House. A lot of good things there to eat

In 2019 & 2020 Meigs went on to play in the state title game. I attended both games. It wasn't a physicality issue the reason the SG lost. SG played just as physical if not more in my opinion. SG did not have the same amount of talent/athletes/depth. Meigs clearly had more athletes/depth and the better coaching staff. In those 2 season Meigs was clearly better than SG as well as everyone else in 2A accept Peabody who beat them in the state title game back-to-back. In those 2 back-to-back seasons, Meigs & Peabody didn't lose one single season game or a playoff game. Both teams clearly on another level with overall talent/depth and great coaching staffs to boot.
In 2021 SG lost 2 regular season games against Daniel Boone & Knox Catholic. In the 2ndRnd SG lost to Oneida and then Oneida lost to Hampton in the 3rdRnd. That year Hampton went onto play in the state title game against West View who won. SG beat Hampton that year at Hampton and during that game SG's Qb Myers was injured. If Myers hadn't gotten injured and another key player who knows what could've happened against Oneida. I will say this, in that 2ndRnd game against Oneida, SG played bad, but credit due to Onedia because they came in with a great game plan and was the better team on the field that particular night.
If SG loses to Bledsoe, it will not because of not playing physical. Talent/depth and coaches making good calls to put the kids in the best position goes a long way. Bledsoe in my opinion has the advantage at the Oline, but that doesn't mean SG will not be as physical. Bledsoe probably the better overall team with clearly the advantage of being at home, but we shall see. Have a blessed week.
I was at both games as well. Meigs pushed SG all over the field and dominated the line of scrimmage, I thought SG didn’t play physical at all, but everyone is entitled to their opinion and it irrelevant now. Good luck to you guys and safe travels, it a long and curvy ride over the mountain. And stop in Dayton to eat. Monkey Town Brewing is a good place to go, not much in Pikeville.

Don’t forget long bus ride
There’s a lot of those this year. SG to Bledsoe is a pretty good ride as well

In the first round I’m going with.
Giles Co
Tyner
watertown
Meigs Co

Curious myself about Squatch and Tyner. Tyner can be a really good team, wonder how they match up.
I think the turf will benefit Tyner, and I think they come back to Decatur in round 2.
-
I think Hampton wins this one but don’t be surprised if Polk makes it a game. Polk will be physical on defense but they don’t have enough offense to win but they will play hard for four quarters.

Can Region 1 folks give me run down of South Greene?
I think you guys roll in this one, the last two times SG came to Decatur, I believe in 19 they were 10-1 and 20 they were 12-0, they had some good athletes but they struggled against teams that played physical, I think you guys win handily.

How did Hampton lose to Pigeon Forge in the first game of the season? They didn't win a game afterwards.
I’ve wandered about that myself, PF came to Meigs and they are the worst team we had played all season.

York is 2A I believe. I have them representing the East this year over Marion.
Yes I know they are 2A, I don’t think they have the speed to beat Marion or ER even Smith will be a hard matchup. I was replying to TSSAAFootball is a York fan, he said we will make an early exit.

Not next week, but Meigs is one of my #1's that I can see losing early.
That could definitely happen, I believe Meigs will play Tyner in the second round if they beat Grundy, and Tyner has a good football team with size and speed. I think York will be fine because region 1 and 2 is a little down this year, but they will probably get blowed out in the semifinals like last year.
-
Have those two teams ever played? What should we expect from Grundy?
-
In the last two games Central has given up 100 points to a couple not very good teams. I have to go with Watertown.
-
first round
Brainerd at Giles CoTyner at Sequatchie Co
watertown at McMinn Central
Grundy Co at Meigs Co
-
This is a tough one to call. I think the key for Central is to score first and stay ahead, because that defense isn’t stopping no one, the last team with the ball properly wins.

Can anyone explain what happened on this one. One of two different surprises that happened last night on my picks. Was there a mass of injuries on the defensive side of the ball or what.
They didn’t say anything about injuries last night on the radio, the defense gave up 38 to a bad Tellico team, I just think McMinn has a good offensive and struggles on defense. They better fixes some things or the playoffs will be one and done.

I believe Watertown may upset Central in round 1. Tyner has a chance to upset Sequatchie as well. Will be some.good games in round 1.
I was thinking the same thing.

Separation Thursday. Hopefully we will get revenge for the beating we took last year. I still believe we win by 3 tds. Nothing against Tyner, I'm sure they are a good team and improved over the course of the year, but so are we. I look for a high intensity game from Meigs tonight. I hope we show up and show out.
Safe travels to you Tyner folks.
That was a hard fought game, we fumbled on the first possession and gave them momentum and it was a dogfight from there. Two big plays on that last possession, 3rd and 15 and we get a 30 yard pass play and a big run to take it down to the 2 yard line and take a knee for a 10-0 regular season.
-
Tyner has a good looking football team, size and speed, they have definitely gotten better through out the season. They will be a handful next year.
-
Both teams are playing like the 1 seed is on the line, and I believe it is. 13-6 Meigs mid way through the 3rd
-
It sounds like M Central’s defense though it was just an 8 game regular season
Marion Co. vs Westmorland
in Class 1A & Class 2A

I wish we could or would have played you guys this year and not played PF, that was a waste of time. I think it would have been a great game. Meigs
