Mason got 3rd at the same bracket Landon finished 8th with a mfft fresh off that tear.

It's not crazy to think that match is close with two healthy kids.

I don't see it. The gap between 3rd and 8th is huge at that level.

Honestly, I think Hunter Mason vs Landon Desselle at 138 is a very close decision that comes down to the last 30 seconds.

Absolutely not. Let's not forget Hunter spent a season recovering from a major injury.  A 100% healthy Hunter eats 100% healthy Desselle's breakfast every day.

Landon Desselle on one leg wins AA 132, 138, or 145.

To think he doesn't pin the 138 in A is absolutely insane. Come on now, lets be real....

Until Hunter Mason shows up at 138 (He wrestles there nationally) or 145 from Single A and wipes the floor with everybody in the entire state from D2 in AA.  Fortunately for everyone Hunter moves on to VT.

  4. Cleveland alum Trae McDaniel at West Point.  It looks as though he has worked himself into the starting lineup at 149 and currently has a 27-9 record.  At one point this season he was on a 16 match win streak.  Really impressed with with what he is accomplishing and it looks as though more is to come.

Brayden Palmer at UTC. Brayden has proven to be one of our state's best.  Hopefully he can break through and become a NCAA qualifier this year.

Any others at the D1 level that have impressed you guys or have winning records?

Obviously Cody Chittum is on the horizon at Iowa.

Good stuff! You know Lowery of Greeneville beat Ferrell something like 16-2 a couple of weeks ago. So he is not at 182?

Ferrell and Lowery wrestled at 195.  Track screwed up the weight. Ferrell is definitely at 182.  Gabe is walking in the high 170s and has been all season.   If it wasn’t for his brother being at 170 Gabe could easily make 170.  Don’t read too much into Lowerys win.

I like Lowery, I've said as much early in the season but he ain't getting by Logan Heckert.  He might get to the finals,  but Heckert has 182 locked down.

Agreed on Heckert.  And at 195 there is Atwood.  At 220 there is Curtis but not sure if Curtis just went there for duals.  Curtis has lost to Atwood a few times over the last year so that would make sense.   Curtis, if at 220, will give Chrisman serious trouble as well.

  7. Go to the tournament in track, link below.  Click brackets.  Select the division.  Click the link, it is the small number, for dual you want.  Click the play button next to the match you want to watch.   If you can’t watch then yes something is up with your flo account.

DB sends their kids to alot of individual tournaments like beast of the east and knockout.

Yes but I’m not a fan of those for most kids since typically it is two an out.  The ones who are elite and capable are going to those anyways.   I’d rather teams do in-state and out of state duals against tough competition.

You never see them at the cleveland duals, Bradley invitation, McCallie invitation, or tough out state competitions. It helps wrestling tough competition all year this time of year. I could be wrong and not saying they wrestled a weak schedule. Maybe someone can correct me

Which makes the DB win over Summit super impressive because Summit did wrestle a really tough schedule.

  10. DB downs Summit in another close dual.   Rematch of WC and DB for third.  DB quieting the doubters.  We shall see which team has enough in the tank.   Really looking forward to Cleveland and Bradley.

Have you seen the 38 wrestle? He is very talented. His only real loss last year was Hunter Sturgill. He would have placed high in single A last year if it wasn't for a family emergency keeping him out of regionals.

I like Tucker and I've seen him wrestle a bunch but Warnock is definitely the favorite.   Tucker is the underdog and will have to bring his very best.

Cleveland vs. Summit will be a battle but assuming the matchup is the same (or similar) as at the Cleveland Duals it will be tough for Summit to squeeze out enough extra points.  Realistically, I could see Summit flipping 120 and 285 (because anything can happen at HWT).  I could also see Summit getting bonus at 145 (8-1 last time). Not sure they can get more points elsewhere (unless a few guys just avoid getting pinned). If all that happens and everything else remains the same Summit wins.  However, I could also see Cleveland flipping 126 and 160 as well as not getting pinned at 132 resulting in a 20+ point win. This is all based on the same or similar lineup. It should be a good one.  I haven’t seen WC this year so don’t know if they can matchup with Bradley.

WC is far from a foregone conclusion over DB.  120, 138, 145, 170, and 220 are matches that DB can win. I simply gave WC a decision. WC had better come prepared.  Every kid at those weight classes I just listed is talented. These aren't scrubs.
