  2. You are right.

    So much parity:

Fayettville(5) beats Moore Co(3) by six and Huntland (11) by six.

Dresden(10) beats West Carroll(15) by 9 and loses to Lake County(8) by five and Greenfield(16) by 6.

Greenfield is the lowest 5 win team in the state because of strength of schedule and margin of victory.  They could just as easily be 1-4 but they aren't.  If Bruceton, who appears to be playing solid defense, keeps wining and they manage to pull off the win v. LC they will really jump in the polls and ratings.  Not sure how likely that is yet though.

Moore Co really confuses me as they beat Cornersville(7) by ten and loses to Fayetteville(5) by six by but rate higher than F@$%ville????  Alas Sonny Moore doesn't start getting accurate till the next couple of weeks anyway.

  4. Ok biggest question mark is Memphis plain and simple.  If nothing is definitive then classification is at a standstill.  Good news is several have submitted numbers, but there are several that have not.  Not sure if anything can be read into that.

Small school classifications will be impacted by new schools like Bluff City or magnet schools that choose to play football as well.

Last I seen on other threads the teams on what might be the bubble to go down to 1A are Peabody, Trousdale, McKenzie, and possibly Union City. Maybe it was just talk but was some possibilities

So I hear Huntingdon may move up a class due to larger enrollment.  Who else may move up?  That is the only way a team can move down.

Lake County did not go to overtime with Dresden. Dresden went to overtime with West Carroll and Greenfield. I get what you are saying. This LC team is not last years but I think both LC and Huntingdon are better than the rest and have more upside than the rest in the west.

I stand corrected.  I am sure that I miss heard/remembered, probably will not be the last time I do so.

Huntingdon is just like Lake County both teams are extremely young. They are both trying to find an identity. Huntingdon is very talented and I feel both Lake County and Huntingdon will figure things out by the time the playoffs start. LC may lose to Westview and Ripley but will be fine against 1A teams. Huntingdon lost to McKenzie and may lose to Milan but are fine against 1A teams. LC struggled through the Dresden game just like Huntingdon struggled with Bruceton. I know for a fact LC dominated the Dresden game and I suspect Huntingdon dominated the Bruceton game. Like I said both teams are very young and will keep getting better. Don't get me wrong I am no way saying that these other 1A teams cannot beat LC or Huntingdon but I do like both teams chances against the 1A teams in the west.

I am very curious how Lake County will fare against West Carroll and Greenfield.  I have a feeling that the district title may not be as secure as you might think.

@Mustang1969 what is your take on the underlined statement?

On a separate note, how will they handle the playoffs for region 7?

Not so fast. It is true Lake County is a young team and not like last year team but I am fairly confident that both Lake County and Huntingdon will play in the semifinals. The others you mentioned are a notch below this two in the west. Lake County will be just fine against 1A competition as will Huntingdon.  So. Pitt is the overwhelming favorite to win a gold ball. Anything short of that is a complete failure and they may need to look within their program if that happens. So. Pitt has been favorite every year for the past 7 or 8 years and have not got the job done. It makes you wonder. This is the pirates year to get it done. If not there is something wrong on the pirate ship.

Taking absolutely nothing away from what the talent at Lake County was able to accomplish last season, however,  Lake County went to overtime with Dresden....not exactly what a State Championship caliber team does.  Huntingdon could only score six point on Bruceton....again not exactly a dominate performance.  As far as a notch below, we agree on that, thus the descriptor "outsiders looking in."  We also agree about South Pitt, however, this team seems stacked "unusually" high.  Much better players than South Pitt typically has.

  9. From what I am hearing South Pittsburg is not ranked high enough.  #1 just doesn't seem to be high enough after all they can only be taken down by Covid come November.  There will be a real battle for the silver ball on the west side of the bracket.  Lake County is still riding the State Championship wave which is understandable but they are nothing like they were last season.  Huntingdon is also a shadow of their self from last year not impressed at all.  I know nothing about Region 5.  If there is a dominate team there they will represent the west side of the bracket in the State Championship game.  Outsiders looking in McEwen, Collinwood, Dresden and Bruceton may make some waves.

That's true in TN.  Nationally, we're at almost 200,000 deaths.  Flu never comes close to that number.

Not entirely true.  Not entirely false.  https://www.cdc.gov/flu/pandemic-resources/basics/past-pandemics.html

It took the Pandemic of 1918 to triple it.  However with modern medicine it might not have been as high or with our current population it might have been much worse since it is the only time on record (http://www.demographia.com/db-uspop1900.htm) that our population dropped from one year to the next outside of maybe the Civil War.

Back to football.  Lets just play.  Be thankful we can do so whenever the opportunity presents itself.  Hopefully people will develop some immunity to it and a vaccine can be found.

Just because you type "100% Fact!" doesn't make it a fact.  Your "fact" isn't true.

Technically you are correct but not by more than 500 to 1000 deaths.  There are years on record where the flu has killed more though.

Current death rate attributed to Covid 2129.

At the current number which will likely rise, it would be somewhere between 5th and 7th leading cause of death this year in TN.

  12. Ridiculous!

Nick Saban quote on the Veer

    https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2018/11/18/18099110/alabama-citadel-triple-option-2018

You all are funny.  The Veer is a great equalizer when you have less talent.  At a 6A program like OB he can platoon O and D and actually be able to play real defense spend more time on Offensive wrinkles and Ball Security.  I will gladly go on record as saying this will be a very successful move for Coach Bowling.
