This is my first post. I wasn't never planning on posting anything, but I read something the other day that really ticked me off. Yeah, SlingBlade7, I didn't like the way that you referred to Babe Ruth Coaches as "Guru's" and the way that you were bad-mouthing the Dad's for being Babe Ruth Coaches. I don't no what a Guru is, but it was very sarcastic in the way that you said it. Not all BR coaches have sons playing in the league. I have been a BR coach for the past 18 years and I have no sons, but I do have great respect for the Dad's also that do it. We spend every summer with these boys, and do it for FREEEEE!!!!! We do it for our love for the boys and the game of baseball. I myself coach Babe Ruth, because I look at it as a honor and a privilege, and don't expect anything in return, except hoping my boys have fun each summer. You high school coaches ought to commend us Babe Ruth coaches, instead of bad-mouthing us, for giving your boys the extra practice and playing every summer to make them become better ball players for your high school teams.

Also, and I guess it was alright for you guys to get on there and get your digs in about that Coach Chaffin, saying, well is he going to play his worst nine or best nine? and then you coming back with "yeah it could go Good, Bad, Good, OK, Good, Bad, Good, Great, or Best and yeah with him you never know" Seems to me like you all don't think he is that great either, kinda like you think this coach really don't think he knows what he is doing. So don't get mad, and get your shots in with the other people that also want to say things. Just like the one person said you don't see and know everything that goes on behind the scene. Coach Slone and crew have taken down another team that use to dominate Lebanon teams of the past. Purvis, an old MJHS player himself, always schedules LHS on his senior day to add insult to injury. He always drills LHS, well he did. I'm glad to see LHS finally break that curse. Everybody keeps talking about Coach Martin, well his brother is on the MJHS staff. The Martin magic didn't seem to come through for the Bears. Hats off to Lebanon. I hope you guys continue to win and reach new heights. I'd love to see an Oakland sweep!

How's everyone doing??? What are the records not all teams have all of their games on coacht. Just curious to how all Wilson Co. teams are doing. Kinda tired of just hearing about Rutherford Co. teams. So let's hear about'em from MJHS to MJ Christian.

Your right, it shouldnt matter what your last name is or what your family has done for the community/program... It should be all about the player and the player should want his parents to stay out of his business. But how can this happen when DADS are in the dugout all the time so his son can play..

What coach is a Dad for LHS???

Hey IBCguy, I've seen two of your comments about the Blue Devils, but no one seems to be taking the bait. Why doesn't Lebanon get any props on this site? Is this gonna be the year they get over the .500 mark? How big of an impact is that new assistant gonna make for ya'll? How do you expect to finish in the district?

What new assistant are you talking about????? They did get a new Freshman assistant by what I hear. How can a Freshman assistant be an impact coach???? Yes he may impact somewhat the freshman squad. Is there another new coach perhaps??? I just heard of one and he's a young one. My kid is an 8th grader at WJB and will hopefully play at LHS next year. So I do try to keep up w/ the LHS baseball and football as well. Again there may be another new assistant I don't know about though. The one I'm talking about played I think at some small school. I hope he is a great freshman coach though!!

Let's see where everyone thinks their teams will end up by district tourney time. Rank them 1-8 and make it a little more interesting predict district win losses.....Like who will sweep who and who will split. Then we'll look back and see who is the guru when it comes to 7AAA ball. Don't be SCARED!

There were actually 4 or so FCS kids that ended up at CU during the early nineties.

 

Carlton Reece, Spence Chitwood, Mike Summars, and Jamie Rogers ... there have been a couple others recently with the Underwood, Fowler, and a couple of others.

I am from LHS and I didn't play anything there. I did follow football and baseball in the county though. I don't really care to know your name I just wanted to know what team at LHS you beat. I don't know many of the FCS kids except for the summars kid that went to CU in the early 90's I believe. I just wondered if you played with him. The reason I won't state my name is I have a kid at WJB. I'm not like RU and bash people on here. Sorry to upset you though. I actually agree with some of what you posted.

Also did you happen to know or play with the Summars kid that I think ended up at CU but I'm not sure???

Lebanon, MJ, WC are all 5A programs and FC, Watertown, MJCA are all 1A teams. I think anyone with a 6th grade education would realize that 1A schools should not beat a 5A team in football with any regularity.  However, we are comparing programs on this post.  That would mean which schools team is most successful in their respective classification.

 

Glad to hear WC has never beaten LHS but that will change this year with WC winning easily and by a large margin.  MJ may even beat the blue-devils this year.

You told me you went 2-2 against LHS. Was that against Cue Martin's squad?? I think he had a perfect record against you guys. I'm not sure though. If it wasn't Martin what Notorious was it against???

That I'm not sure of.  But if so, another case of Lebanon keeping the good ones.   

 

It is sad how the adminstration hogties the programs their.  With the county booming like it is, the programs at LHS should be better ... much better.  All the other schools are getting ultra competitive in their respective classifications (with exception of MJ football - they tend to follow the LHS school of hiring great coaches in that sport).  Gotta get that school fixed - gang problems, fights, grades, public perception, running off coaches, and whatever else.  I'm sure you can agree with that.

They actually posted the highest scores this past year in the county. I don't know if that includes FCS or not. What kind of gang problems are you talking about?? They do however go through coaches.

It might help if I was Chris Slaughter from KOKOMO, IN.  He is probably loving the fact the guys are bashing him.  He is an assistant volleyball coach at Siegel working with his wife - if you wanted to know where he was.

 

A bit of Oakland and FCS trivia - Coach Hawks at Oakland is a graduate of which high school.  FCS.  Strange factoid - like anyone really cares.

Well I have a kid at WJB. 8th grade. We lost our 2 coaches, Spurlock and Travis Holland. Holland is now at Oakland. He'll be great there. He's an old CU player but younger than you. You guys need to stop all this bickering on here.

Really though why did you quit coaching the Freshmen at Oakland? Coach Manning said you did a good job. Just wondered why you got out????

Was that against the Cue Martin teams?? I remember Jody Atwood and Bobby Joe Gibbs. LHS had some good years back then.

So how are things going for you over there in the boro?? Why did you stop helping Oakland's freshmen???

Friendship has beaten LHS 2/3 of the times they have played in the past 15 years.  They even beat em up physically in a brawl when A. Ford was pitching for LHS in the early 90's.  Your only logical comment I've read on these message boards is that "LHS should beat Friendship because LHS is AAA".

 

Problem is they can't beat em!!!

 

That is why they stopped scheduling them.

 

Purvis is a quality man and also a quality young coach!  He teaches his players the game the same way Woody taught it to him.  You want find him or McNeal cursing in the dugout or drinking beer in the parking lot after practice like some former LHS coaches have been known to do.

 

LHS should have kept S. Hunt or Q. Martin and they could have built a similar program to FCS or MJ.  Problem is the old school people in Lebanon still think they are a football school.   

 

Everyone else is intelligent enough to realize L.H.S. athletics are second tier to Friendship, WC, and MJ!

What was your record facing LHS when you played???

I remember a Slaughter at CU. Good kid!! Didn't get to play much though. I didn't know where he went to high school though.

The Multiplier did not effect FCS this year. They should have few barriers this year in baseball or football except maybe Trousdale Co. They should atleast get 1 State Championship. They are stacked with talent in both sports. They came out even better with defects from local Lebanon High School in the past year the have gotten 3 outstanding athletes from LHS. Jon Miller stand-out QB and IF/P. Brian Cravens starting SS for LHS defected in middle of the '05 season and just a week ago stand-out RB/DB and starting CF defected just weeks before kick off. Friendship has a dynasty. Atletes are drawn to that place. McNeil if you can't get it done now that all the good privates have gone up due to the mulitiplier and the new additions to your 2 programs well......FCS is so much better than the divisions that they are in. They would be very competitive in any division. Good Luck this year and don't beat up on the watertowns and the g-ville's too much! Watch out for Trousdale and you'll rule the division. It's a cake walk!!!!

Ok some of you old guys out there tell me the best Lebanon High team of all time. I want records some game recaps if possible and who did what. Come on old guys time to boast!!!
