  1. From what I’ve read it seems that he is a homegrown Meigs County guy who not only coached there for 12 years, but graduated from there as well.

Its interesting to me that he not only left MC but went to someone within there own region.

Are there internal issues at Meigs County?

hes a little quirky for CH. forrest fans are surprisingly shallow. id love to have the guy. but a short, sort of eccentric guy who twirls his long hair on camera.  he actually hopped into the arms of an assistant when the clock ran out in what was a very strange look. i dont see CH lions club goign for that. i personally have zero issue with it.

That was his sons arms that he jumped in I believe.

    1996 and 1997 are correct.

In 1996 they won in the final week of the regular season to reach the playoffs.  The other playoff teams in the region that year were Beech, Father Ryan, and Maplewood.

In 1997 they lost the opener to MBA by one point.  After that they ran the table and pitched 8 straight shutouts from Weeks 7-14.  The other playoff teams in the region that year were Springfield, Whites Creek, and Cheatham County.

In 1998 they had a great chance to three peat but were defeated at home in the Quarterfinals by Whites Creek.

Crazy to think how far Whites Creek has fallen.

I’ll agree that winnin at Kentucky is hard to do and he has done a good job there BUT

If you consistently win 7-9 games a year at Kentucky they will build a statue of you in front of the stadium once you retire. If you win 7-9 games a year at A&M you are gonna get fired and be lookin for a new job. The expectations at the 2 schools are drastically different.

The donor money and what you’re able to recruit there are two totally different things as well!

I think he would’ve done well there!

Why didn’t ER win before Brooks got to ER. They were still talented always have been??

But they wasn’t as talented as they are now.

You guys have once in a generational talent up there now… I mean come on… who in 2A ball has 3-5 division 1 players on their roster.

There is not a reason in this world that anyone y’all have played this year should’ve been within 14-21 points from beating you.

Brooks is 24-3 as a head coach. Took over a program that hadn’t had a winning season since 09’. I feel like a few bad apples that are extremely young apples are ruining his reputation. ER had never been past the second round before him and in 2 years he goes to the quarterfinals and the state championship.

He may be better than Pond schematically, but that don’t make him a good coach. You and me could probably have the above record with the talent he’s been given.

Riverside didn’t match up athletically with Fairley and in my opinion they were the most athletic in 2A so I don’t think Riverside needs to match up athletically with ER they just need to stick with what they’ve done the past 2 weeks which is ball control and playing defense

    I’m gonna go 30-14 Riverside

    Fair enough

ER is very undisciplined anybody who watched them this year knows that. Brooks I personally don’t think is a great coach. He just happens to have 5 kids or so that have D1 offers on a 2A team. (Almost unheard of) Most coaches in his position and roster wouldn't have lost a game this year and wouldn't have let York creep back. These ER boys looked real great last year too until they ran into some real athletes in Tyner and they turned into turtles. So will see what happens when they face some actual speed and athleticism again. History says they usually underperform. Isaiah Groves (RB) is a great back tho and as a team they have 4-5A speed. Going to be a great game hope both teams show their best.

I’d have to agree with you and @ergrad1989 here. If this team was well coached they would’ve steam rolled everyone this year!

As an East Homer and someone who has seen Riverside play this year, Tyner last year @JACKET316 @H2Oman @biggest yalls TC and Watertown teams were born 3 years too early. Those 2018-2021 TC and H20 teams would cakewalk through 2A now.

Agree… it sure is unfortunate that it usually works out that way.

Enjoy the run and good luck to both teams!

I’ve not seen Riverside, but if they can matchup athletically… they would have to be the favorites due to ER being so undisciplined.

Question for anyone that knows. We’re all 3 of the ejections because of what each player did during the second fight as in threw a punch or something similar or were any of the 3 due to a second unsportsmanlike penalty? Just curious if maybe 1 or more of the 3 tossed were just mouthing or taunting and got a second one and that maybe all 3 weren’t throwing hands or something like that. Jus wondering, might make a difference if/when the TSSAA hammer falls.

Wasn’t there, but watching NFHS and I think the ejections came from the fight. All three players were throwing dukes.

ER is a sophomore led team. Abunch of young pups. Proud as heck of them for getting here. May not end the way we want but by the time they graduate they’ll hoist a gold ball.

Not if they don’t clean up their penalties. There will always be a team out west that will be just as talented that is more disciplined.

They have the studs for sure, but that don’t always win you gold balls!
