So is this job a rebuild or is it a job that has culture established and just needs the right staff to take it to the next level?  Can this program get to a region championship and deep run in the playoffs in a 3 year span?  Out of the 3-4 coaches mentioned....(current coach on staff, Woods, Stewart, Crouch) who is the best fit for that school?  Thoughts????

They have a strong senior class coming back, but after this upcoming year it doesn't look very good. However, you never know with transfers and what not. I would say it's a good job with Centennial going to 5a. Yes, you still have to deal with Page and Nolensville, but 5a overall is not near as strong as 6a.

Is Kriesky taking his staff with him?

Probably depends on what Centennial decides to do. If they promote from within, then probably most of the staff will stay. If they hire someone new, that may happen.

Congrats... I am 54 spent my youth in Texas playing and watching ball in west Texas.   No where did say I wouldn't give the guy a chance, What I said is I don't think he was the right hire. Tell me you would take him over your coach??Or tell me you believe he is a coach that is going to contend with or beat Creasy? If you are not making progress you are falling behind. I didn't see this as an upgrade and the only thing anyone has said is he brings stability.

Tygard didn't and was not going to compete with Creasy. They may not score as many points, but they are already much better defensively.

    Who's the next coach?

Not a big coach T presence in Wilco. It's hard to predict the direction Dyson would go. They have a couple of former Head Coaches on staff. There's multiple quality coordinators in Williamson that would probably love the opportunity. Would Crouch and Woods want to go after this job since they went for the Blackman job? I think Crouch would. I think he's wanting to be a head coach in either Rutherford or Williamson.

Before you pick up your pom poms... know your audience. I fought publicly to keep Shad at the time I believed he was the guy for the job. I believed he was truly invested in the kids and the program. As far as Watson and Hartsfield, I never said a crossword about them and continue to be friends with both of them and hold them in high regard . I set through 16 seasons and 200 plus games, so yeah I have a bit of an investment in this program as I have had 2 boys that played under the 3 former coaches mentioned.

Was Tygard perfect absolutely not. Did I jump on his band wagon day one ... nope, Did I support him and the program as I have every coach in the past? You bet.  Here is where you and I are different.

    1) Blackman does not have the ability to line up and run over you any longer. They lost that with the rezoning to Rockvale.

    2) The mentality to "go back to what Blackman used to do is ridiculous. It did not work well with Kit or David either one. To think you are gonna pour a vanilla cake mix in a bowl  and get anything other than what you have been getting with it is just not smart.

    3) You want different results than the same ole same ole, you have to do things different. Did Tygard attract players with his style of play ? You bet he did. Will Blackman have that draw with 3 yards and a cloud of dust? Not hardly. Not when they can go across town and get that system.

Do you know the terms and reason Tygard left? Do you know the assistant coaches were stipend from the booster club  money at a considerably higher amount than He was. He asked for consideration for the same or more and was denied. Since Blackman does not have a true booster club and unlike Oakland the funds are approved at the administration level not the  boosters or coaches.  Do you know that he asked for a raise and was denied . Not to match Cleveland, but show him something.  You realize Rankin wanted the Job when, they gave it to Tygard, There were a couple candidates that would have been better options. but Blackman could not come to terms on the pay, so don't act like this was the first choice.

Will I support Blackman this season. you bet I will. Will I give Kriesky a shot, yes of course, . Will I be frustrated if we turn around and go 5-5 4-6..3-7 ....of course. When you put in the time supporting this team, program, previous coaches, look me up and talk to me about "stability"

What makes you think he is running a 3 yards and a cloud of dust offense? His offenses at Centennial were spread.

Don't think Woods would be a good fit for one, and it's a significant pay cut to leave CR for Blackman. He'd also have to beat Oakland AND Maryville just to make the finals. Same goes for Smith on all fronts

Kriesky and Crouch would be solid hires. Both are more likely to also bring stability than Woods or Smith. Kriesky has gotten the most out of what little talent he's had to work with at Centennial and Crouch has done a good job building up Green Hill.

If your a Blackman fan and want to continue the same direction Tygard started in, Crouch is as good of a fit that you'll find.

Don't quite agree with the lack of talent claim with Kriesky. They have lacked linemen, but not skill. 2020 was the one year he lacked talent overall. Centennial is the most diverse school in Williamson County, which some would say should help athletics. Not saying he has done a bad job, but Would not say he's gotten the most out of his teams.

To be very candid, I am not thrilled with the prospect of Kreisky as HC..... I think that is not trading up or moving fwd, but best case a step backwards. I truly hope they have better options to pick from or we truly will be the new Siegel or Murfreesboro

On paper Woods and Smith have better resumes than him and Crouch. Not sure why Woods isn't the clear choice if he's in the mix. He has a great record at Cane Ridge and is a middle TN guy. Smith has a great record in West TN at Germantown and Haywood. However, Haywood is 4a and people in West TN would tell you they should be dominate over the teams they play.

I’m sorry it’s Crouch and Kriesky. The green hills guy. These names are running together

Interesting. Crouch is similar to Tygard in that he's a players coach who promotes and brands a lot.

He’s got experience and has had some success as a HC. But IMO, the relationships make him top candidate. These RuCo football roots are very deep. Again, this is a message board ,so these are opinions and hearsay .

Agree. K is the safer more comfortable choice since he has had "some" success at Centennial, nothing earth shattering. Blackman has more resources.  He's been in Middle TN for a while and has developed a lot of relationships. Smith has a great record at Haywood, but it's west TN in a smaller classification.

    Won’t be a pay cut

He's also the AD at Centennial, so it will be

Head coach supplement in RuCo is 22%. Willco is 17%. AD supplement in Willco is $4000. Teaching salary is identical. If it is a paycut, it’s not a big one. And is significantly less work and time.

It's close. The last sentence is definitely true with there not being an athletic period in Willco

I think HC wins this one in a close one. The only thing that scares me is the pass defense. I dont know if Page has the speed the jackets have at wideout or not. Honestly you guys should be able to continue to pound the rock and control the clock. With that massive line up and mistake free i think your playing next week.  Good luck to you guys.

Pass D is something to be concerned about because Page got their best receiver back #11 last week. HC doesn't see many high powered pass offenses like Page. They play a lot of really good teams that are run heavy.

I know that he won like 10,000 games, and lost like 2 in high school. Yet he takes over a league champion in college and goes 3-8. Could it be that he just happened to be the man sitting in the office in high school, and quite a few coaches could’ve won just as many games???

No, this is ridiculous. He will probably get it turned around, but even if he doesn't, can't take away what he did at Maryville. He wasn't just a CEO manager head coach. He was probably the best play caller in the state.

I didn’t ask who’s got the most major d1 offers I said who has the most collective talent in the county and it’s Oakland. You naming a handful of players I’m talking about depth on both sides of the ball talent wise. That’s my last time talking about that. The winner of this game either way was my pick to win it all. I think Oakland might end up playing beech for the gold ball.

Coaching plays a big part in building depth. Blackman has had plenty of talent, and will continue to have talent.

Midtnfb I agree with you. McDaniel laid a great foundation for Creasy to work with. Obviously Creasy has taken it to the level they are at now. Creasy is arguably the best coach in TN, but it's due to many factors such as support, facilities, and of course players.

For those talking about players, top to bottom Oakland typically has better talent but the margin is closing with Blackman. Blackman has arguably the best youth league in the state. I think the middle school beat Oakland this year. So we shall see if Oakland continues their dominance. As long as Creasy and staff remain, I think they carry on as has become usual.

At the bottom, LHS has a great coaching staff, arguably behind Oakland. But they don't get the talent most think they do. There are a lot of obstacles that a school like LHS faces that the others do not.

Good luck to the patriots this week.

Agree with the obstacles, but they do have talent.

  15. It's honestly not that big of a gap. This year Blackman has more talent on paper when it comes to D1 recruits. Oakland had more talent in 2014 and it felt almost like a state championship getting to play Maryville. Now, they are expected to beat Maryville year in and year out. They have a great combination of talent and coaching. Blackman and Riverdale have talent and average to good coaching.

Just someone that remembers what years prior to his hiring were like. 93-07, Oakland had 3 Ten win seasons, McDaniel had 4 in 7 seasons.

His tenure was also in a golden age of football in this county. Nearly every program was loaded. Respectfully disagree if you want, but numbers don't lie. He got the ball rolling

I agree with you on a lot of things, but Creasy is just a better head coach than McDaniel. This is nothing to be ashamed of because Creasy is arguably the best head coach in the state. Oakland should not be this much better than all of the other Ruco schools, but they are, and he's a big reason for that. In 8 years, he isn't lost to a county team which is just unbelievable. I doubt if McDaniel were still the head coach he would not be on and eight year run where he hasn't lost to another school in the county. It does seem you have some sort of relationship with McDaniel.

Did Blackman fight the good fight?... Yes... for 24 minutes.

However Blackman is no closer to Oakland than they have been since Creasy's arrival.

And this was supposed to be a "rebuilding" year for Oakland. If Blackman couldn't even make it close in a year that they have a big senior class and more college recruits then Oakland, they will never close the gap as long as Creasy is there.

In regards to your last statement about Tygard…. Spot on. However, that’s offensive to the Blackman faithful that demand Tygard get the respect he deserves… he’s not done anything yet, with a roster like this he should’ve beat Brentwood and not lost to Oakland by 40.. he has a chance to prove himself Friday night but until then he is just another coach at Blackman. Barely Beating Coffee Co. does not open anyone’s eyes. It’s just the tough reality.

    SPOT on
