I really hate (for the kids) that football in Humboldt resembles Thelma & Louise driving the T'bird off the cliff... but the people responsible got exactly what they deserved. Had a great coach and betrayed him to promote their "golden child", thinking he could do just as well.

Classic case of "be careful what you wish for".

What you are referring is probably the worst way I’ve seen a coach that cared for a program and was an overall good man get treated at a school that he had being very competitive every year. Luckily  for us he came to Trenton the year after the Humboldt mistreatment happened, hated he left after that year because the next year we won the first state (2014)

Humboldt's numbers are bad. Football is not on the important list in Humboldt like back in the day.

Truth and very unfortunate for a program that was once very good. Hopefully they will take football serious again because I remember a time that big home side stands they have was filled top to bottom and now barely anyone comes

Ahhh the dreaded mystic of Mathis. Throws a wrench in everything lol. But we are very proud of him in Riverside country he is a passionate, good coach

He’s one of the good ones, always gets the most out of his line. Very fortunate he’s in Trenton. Best of luck Friday night, hoping for a clean game for both teams.

Absolutely agree, can’t wait for our game I expect a good win for us but you never know. I’ll always pull for a region 6 team until we play them

:roflol:Just got to play hard and see how it goes. No doubt Riverside will be heavily favored and rightfully so, great football team. All the respect to Riverside. Maybe Coach Steve Mathis can steal one Friday night :)

Season isn’t over. Riverside does not need to overlook them they have a great coaching staff and some good athletes. It’s the playoffs anything can happen.

Absolutely. Not counting anything out, never know what could happen come playoff time. I was just stating for a sophomore and junior heavy squad to go win against a 10-0 team on the road after having a record they haven’t seen this program have since 2011 which they were young kids was huge to build confidence going forward

Last night Huntingdon backs punished Waverly secondary for making a tackle.the Mustangs passing game also looked really good.

Talking to a guy at the game last night it kinda sounded like we surprised Loretto by how physical we played by running downhill, which we did throw a wrinkle by running the wing T. Huntingdon offense is hard to prep for if you’re not used to being in a slugfest physicality wise

No, I didn't think he deserved it from a pitching perspective.

I would’ve thought he might’ve gotten nominated, but yes. Matthew Dallas not getting in there is a real head scratcher, the kid played for Team USA and is in the MLB top 100 prospects for 2023

What player are you anticipating getting drafted?...These list often leave off a lot of quality players. Just a popularity contest.

Griffin Graves TCA. Committed to Auburn- left touching 94. Kid can go

In all honesty, he was chirping early and the ump did give him a warning. Was it a weak ejection, absolutely. I hate nothing more than an umpire/ref trying to big time the situation, which is what he did. Ump was definitely in the wrong and wasn’t consistent at all.
On the other hand, why would the coach risk getting on the umps bad side in the biggest game of the year! Dude has to know the situation and control himself. He cost his kids the game, no doubt. Had his ace on the mound and the kid got rattled. Will be an interesting game tomorrow for sure!

You’re right, can’t put yourself in the situation. Some umpires are like that, if you know they can have a quick trigger then it’s best to let it be. I’m   just glad he got to coach the next game and the appeal was won.

No doubt the ejection messed with the team’s psyche as it was an early one. After it happened, they settled down and played good baseball just was a tall task. 4 really good teams playing tomorrow.

You can see it all on NFHS Network. Top half of the inning Peabody’s 3 hole hitter gets rung up on a pitch that almost hit him (not crowding the plate like other hitters) and bottom half of the inning you decide where the 3-2 pitch is that scores the first run of the game is. With these games being broadcast and the camera literally right behind home plate you can see out and in pretty clear.

Was that way the whole game, the zone went from a college zone one inning to a little league zone

It won't happen, but the TSSAA needs to adjust their "suspension/fines" when it comes to coaches ejections.  There's a lot of freedom that head coaches will get more than their assistant/players, and sometimes head coaches can use it to their power.

I'm not saying that's what happened here in this case, but if he wasn't warned or restricted (which from your words he wasn't) then there shouldn't been an ejection to begin with because the umpire didn't follow his protocol. Result, he won the appeal.

Definitely a situation that shouldn’t have happened, plus it was the first inning. Peabody made a late comeback but the early lead was just too much

Not that, more specifically on an ejection..

In all honesty, from my point of view coach was just asking about the strike zone because it changed a lot within an inning. Nothing hostile, no yelling, just a simple question and the ump just says no more and Coach says something along the lines of “we would like to know” and boom he got tossed. Very weak ejection and I’ve heard the appealed and won, so no suspension.

Memphis can't have the state championship for football for two reasons: 1) if the Memphis Tigers finish first in their conference, they can host their conference championship game. That game will be on the same weekend as the TSSAA state championships. 2) locker room space. There's only two locker rooms inside the Liberty Bowl. There's not enough space to store a team that plays in the following game. I'm curious to see how MTSU handled that, I'm sure they sent teams inside the Murphy Center.

For West Tennessee to host a state championship, they can host spring fling and have their baseball/softball games at the high schools in Jackson. The "championship game" will be at the Ballpark (Diamond Jaxx/Generals stadium) and softball/soccer champion games at Union University. Jackson can defiantly host the spring fling.

The Liberty bowl wouldn’t be a good spot, I’ve heard they are making additions to the stadium and that will be good but that’s been long overdue.

Jackson would be a good spot to host at the Generals stadium, they don’t have a pro team anymore and they can use that stadium to host a big event like spring fling. There’s Unions field that can host to if needed and also Jackson State.  It wouldn’t be a bad thing either because spring fling in Murfreesboro is starting to not even have the championship games for baseball or softball at MTSU. All that is theorizing because at the end of the day they have to bid and win but the possibility would be good.
