  1. Agreed, they even expanded the Oscars to being up to 10 movies from 5. And most districts/regions recognize 10 or more players each; surely 5 players per classification would be no stretch. And I am NOT a give everyone a trophy kind of guy, but I feel like 5 players in each classification would be more than worthy. Heck, would it be crazy to assure one from each area plus 2 "wildcards"?
  2. I have no idea what all that stuff means (I understand "100 a hole...straight up from the back tees..." but that "automatic press" stuff lost me), but pleasepleaseplease let me be there if/when you play!!!!
  3. You say "as a netural (neutral) fan..." but your bitterness by calling out a teenager would say otherwise.
  4. I absolutely agree with that. In that region Gibson at 481, Union City 454, Madison 450, and Halls 405. In your region Loretto 531 and Summertown 486. And I understand Union City has been 2A before and 2A in football now. I don't always listen to that radio program, but i listened that morning and just thought it was odd Greenfield's coach made a point of saying 3-4 times that Union City was a 2A school or Union City is NOT a 1A school, something like that I don't remember actual quote now. I thought maybe he was just talking about football, but the more he talked about it the more I realized he was singling out Union City. It was just odd to me because I guess Gibson is most recent to drop down from 2A (did Madison used to be 2A also?? I really can't remember now).
  5. My bad...GCPioneer said "Why not just play this tournament at Gibson County every year and spread the money evenly among the teams in the Region tournament..." I honestly didn't mean to misquote you. I just forgot who had said what, because i entered this conversation late. I probably just should have stayed out of it altogether. Both sides have valid points. I just thought it was crazy to say one side has an unfair advantage BUT let's have all games in this or that high school gym.
  6. Now I'm having second thoughts...I see your point. I say state tournament at Riverdale now instead of MTSU for better shooting. I kid, I kid...kinda.
  7. Maybe not about Loretto, but I did hear your coach on the Coaches Corner show one Saturday talking about how Union City was obviously a 2A school. Not sure where he got those numbers, and he was probably only talking about the boys game in this instance, but it's not the first time he has made comments like this. And the odd thing is, Union City is not even the biggest school in the region...but again, as you said, none of those other schools on the A/AA borderline seem to get mentioned.
  8. But your solution (or bylaw even) would be to have one of the schools (Gibson County, of course) to host it every year?? Don't they practice daily in their own gym? And yet, nobody would bring ethics into it, I think. If we're working on the bylaws, my guess would be need to put something in there about playing all regional tourney games at a neutral site...maybe somewhere like a local college gym where none of the teams have "practiced" there, though we know most go there for summer camp anyway. Now if only there was such a facility around here that could host something like that... And I'm not sure you can say Greenfield "wouldn't have allowed it" because that is voted on by the host district I think. There have been times one district/region has been held at Bethel, and now looks like UTM may get involved in the regional mix/rotation.
  9. Sorry, I was talking about West Tn ball there and just didn't make the distinction. AA is good but West Tn AA is nothing like it was when Obion, Westview, Gibson, Dyersburg, and Milan (who had some really good years there for a bit) were battling it out in the same district every year.
  10. Union City and Jackson County had some battles a few years ago, but both have dropped off in recent years. Is it only A ball, though?? AA looks down from what it used to be also. Mention of travel ball makes me wonder if it benefits AAA more than others. But there's not much AAA in West Tn.
  11. No body said you get a trophy for it...and sure, polls may be "meaningless" to some and entertaining to others...kinda like CoachT message boards. Sometimes the comments on here can be a distraction also, but so is social media, video games, cell phones...heck, now I'm just showing my age.
  12. He said they were “a favorite,” not “the favorite.” I don’t think you’d find much argument with greenfield being “the favorite” if such a distinction is needed. Don’t go chip on the shoulder quite yet.
