  1. Wow! Sounds like an amazing game and atmosphere! I wish i could have been there! Good luck to Clay in the state tourney!
  2. Good game Pickett. But now you know how we felt last year. Pickett had no answer for any aspect of Grace's game. We were bigger, faster, quicker, shot better, rebounded better, played better team ball, and the list could go on. I would have to say that this was one of the best TEAM BALL games that i have seen Grace play this year. The scoring was spread out and Grace just looked dominant. Van Horn set the tone for the game with a dunk off of the tip-off. And then the breaking point for Pickett was when Carter threw it down hard 2 handed and then came back on the other end and just swatted this kid's lunch. Twas a fun game to watch. Even though Temple lost, I think the boys from Chattanooga sent a message that they can really play. The state tourney will be a lot of fun! GRACE = STATE BOUND (im sorry if i sound really arrogant right now, but im just really excited to see a bunch of my good friends and Coach Matthiess get another chance at the 'Boro!)
  3. Congrats to the Clay Co. Bulldogs on a great win. Temple, you had a good season and a good showing on the road. But i will have to say that this shows Clay isnt as good as everybody was making them out to be. Not everyone, but a couple people made it sound like Clay was invinsible and we should worship the ground they walk on. Temple was up 13 ON THE ROAD in sub-state. Crusaders, i applaud you and you will be even better next year!!
  4. Make Chatt. town proud Temple! Even though i am deffinitely going for Temple in this one im not sure they will be able to win it at Clay. If it was here in Chattanooga then it might be a different story. Clay by 9
  5. I agree with RAW's comment above. Carter is 6'10" and can jump. There is no way that kid can get as high is Carter. That was an absurd remark! About the fans...i will personally guarantee that The Flock will be loud tonight. I will not let it be an off night for the students. We have the flag tonight...someone has been forgetful the past couple of games and forgot it. But it will give us new strength tonight...haha...wow im dumb. GO GRACE!! FEAR THE EAGLES!!
  6. I get what you are saying. Makes sense. But height will be a factor. And yes Grace does prefer a little slower pace than Temple, but we get quite a few fast break points ourselves. Wow, i cant wait for the game tomorrow night! Oh, and another question. How well does Pickett travel? As one of the members of the Grace student section im just wondering what to expect as far as Pickett noise. Anyways, even though it doesnt have a lot to do with the game, will Pickett bring a bunch of people?
  7. "Height isn't everything. Josh shuts Carter down every time and Carter has another 3-5 inches on Josh." You are very right...but many times it helps a lot. And i will give more credit to Josh, he does pretty much shut Carter down. And he is more like 7 inches shorter than Carter. Josh is about 6'3" right? Maybe and inch taller than that. But if Picket's tallest player is 6'3" then i think that gives us even better chances. Even if the teams are evenly matched talent wise (but i think Grace is deffinitely more talented), then the serious height advantage will be hard to overcome unless they are just unbelievable physical. It is going to be an wicked fun game to cheer for.
  8. I would have to say that we are a very hard team to match up with. You have a lot of quickness in Van Horn, Davis, and Smith. You have height in Carter (but none of the starters are short). All 5 of them can sink the 3. You have an inside presence with Carter and Dilts if they use it. You have pure power with Dilts. I dont know, but i would say we are a hard team to match up with. Why do you think you match up better with us than Temple? Just a question.
  9. Josh is a very level headed player. He is also a good player who has pretty much shut down Carter each time they have played. And yes you are still very in it. Im pulling for yall to go up to Clay and put a beatin on 'em
  10. I truely dont think those comments about Grace's parents are true...lol. Ok, I know they arent true. And you want to talk embarrassing, what about the Temple COLLEGE kids that cussed at our players and tossed a powerade bottle at Davis after the game. Now that's embarrassing...haha. And i think the officials called a pretty good game, but i may be baised. And about the last couple is seconds, there is no way you can call a foul in that situation with everyone jumping into each other. First of all everyone was fouling everyone. Second, you cant determine the ending of a game like that by calling a foul during a loose ball situation. I think the refs did a good job.
  11. I know that Picket is a good team. They have to be to get this far. But i dont see them coming to "The Eagles Nest" (aka McGilvary...haha) and pulling out a win. Grace is playing well and the students from Grace will flock and have a blast. It should be a good atmosphere. I say Grace by 7
  12. I agree with BigBody in that it wont matter what the noise level is. You will be very hard pressed to find a better atmosphere than when Grace played Temple i think it was the second time. There were 2500+ people and the players themselves said the noise was deffening (sp?). So Temple is used to the noise, the people, and the pressure. Now as far as the game goes, i really dont know enough about Clay to make a strong prediction. I know that Clay is a great team, but i have to go with the boys from Chatt. town in this one. A great coach with great players CAN pull this one out on the road. Whether they WILL is another question. We will see. And about Seth doing the "blazing guns" thing. That is totally true. I saw it and many others did too. Didnt you notice when Seth went up to get his Region Tournament Award and the grace student section yelled "HEY SETH!!" and then we had 30 people doing the "blazing guns" at him! It was very funny i must say. It was VERY cocky on mr. skogan's part.
  13. I will say one more thing about this "rackem" crud...I just find it quite funny that all this comes from a bad team. SP is not good. "Our players get hyped up and love to "rack" other teams" HAHA...who have you "racked" this season? If a team got "racked" by SP, then that has to be a pitiful team. Anyway, back to the tourney. I dont think that the pressure will be an issue with Grace. They have those seniors that have been in much higher pressure situations than this one before. This is no where near the pressure these guys have seen before. Remember, all of these guys were on the team and many of them played in the state championship game just 2 years ago. They know pressure. That said i think Grace will come out and give a good showing. CSAS is a good team, and is capable of beating them if they have a great night, but i dont see it happening tomorrow night away from their home court. And what time is the game exactly?? Ive heard a couple different times.
  14. I will agree with nearly everyone else on here that you SP guys are really getting on my nerves. Im sorry that no one but you guys have heard of this term, so just shut up. The great thing is that you guys play Temple tomorrow and your season will be over so hopefully we dont have to listen to your crap anymore. I hope Temple beats you by 20+, and they are capable of doing just that. Please, if you want to continue this crap then just go make your own stupid thread about it and you SP fans can just have all the non-intelligent, non-basketball realated conversations you want.
  15. I agree with you...but there is one fault in this reasoning...it will never happen. Grace NEVER plays a zone. They will just not do it. I think they should from time to time, but it wont happen. Oh, and did i say it will never happen?
  16. I think you are very right about your analisis. I dont think Temple will have much trouble getting to the championship game. They are playing well right now. SP does have "The Funky Chicken" but nothing else. The game with the most pressure is going to be Grace vs CSAS. The crafts are a good team that is very capable of beating Grace, but i think that the eagles will prevail in the end. This will lead to Grace vs Temple V to see who travels and who stays home in sub-state.
  17. Wow, Thursday could actually be my last Temple v Grace game to cheer for...oh gosh...i dont like the sound of that. Anyways, i think that this game will be much closer than the third episode. I still think that Grace is 10 points better when they play like they can, but Temple is also a great team that could just as easily do to Grace as Grace did to them in the third installment of this awesome rivalry. I say Grace by 7
  18. He may bring more stats to the game, but Van Horn is the leader of the Grace team. He brings the intangables such as leadership, intensity, composure and hustle. These factors turn into points for us and less points for the other team. Robison would not have given SP the victory. Grace played sloppy and didnt play their best players all night b/c it was Sr. night. Antonio is a great player, but he would not have been enough to get the win.
  19. I wish we could put up video of Carter McMaster's 2 dunks against Temple. Not to be rude...but...both of them blew that one out of the water. One was on a fast break, and he jammed it one handed with some serious authority. The other was off of a free throw...he came off the block and threw it down HARD with two hands...twas awesome!
  20. I know that the game will be at TTU...but im not sure about the ticket pre-sales...i would imagine that there would not be pre-sales.
  21. He played very well...he always seems to draw fouls and play solid. I also love the way he takes charges. He had 2 in this game. Go big BJ!
  22. There is NO WAY East Ridge is THE top team in Chatt. I would agree they are ONE of them, but not the top. Im actually not real informed about the Chatt. area as a whole, but i know a few teams that are very good: Grace Baptist Academy Temple McCallie East Ridge CSAS There are more but im drawing a blank right now
  23. "I must have missed the loud cheering..." That was exactly the point
  24. This truely was by far the worst game i have seen the Eagles play this year. Absolutely sickening to watch. I will give it to the Owls for the good win, but it wasnt b/c of their good play. I think the most dissapointing aspect of the loss was the lack of hustle. Dilts and Van Horn were the only ones on the floor that hustled AT ALL! The players were just standing around watching. And sometimes we had players not even doing that much. There were 2 or 3 times where our players got hit in the face with a pass b/c they werent paying attention to what was going on. There was not a single play run all night. Carter was a good 5 inches taller than anyone on the court but Grace still refused to use him to their advantage down low. The turnovers were bad and there was just a total lack of heart. It is bad when there was discussion in the stands (jokingly of course) that the students should boycott attending the games until the players start playing harder than the fans are cheering.
  25. CHS has a VERY good team. They played well in the Best of Preps tourney at TTU. Stephen McClellan is an amazing shooter and Tyler Watkins is a great all-around player. I think that this should be a good game and im not sure who will come out on top. I have a bunch of friends on the CHS team so i will say the Lions by 3. Nobody on Temple's team can guard McClellan when he is healthy...and i think Temple will have a hard time guarding Watkins. Then they have the threat of Michael Posten shottin the 3. But it will be a great coached game...and Temple can play with about anyone. Which by the way...is Stephen back from his back injury??
