Grundy Coach resigned last friday, they are really bad so im sure her daughter will play somewhere else, she is a really good player.

What about coach from SCHS she resign as well?

Jessica Southern wouldn't last a week at Grundy. Athletic Director Leon Woodlee could try to bring his daughter back from Sequatchie Co. but I doubt she would come. He could appoint himself as coach but that's unlikely due to the fact that he isn't going to coach a team that will struggle to win because it would make him look bad. Here is a name that I think could be in the mix, Brittany Woodlee. She is Leon Woodlee's daughter in law and has coached elementary school ball in Grundy Co. for a few years. Only time will tell but that's my take.

Why did the coach from Shelbyville leave there?  I wish my rebels could of got coach southern is she just not coaching anymore?  Did the grundy coach take her daughter somewhere or did she get fired from grundy?

I think positions 1-3 will be more competitive than they have in a while. Spots 4-7, I would agree with. I still think CC has the advantage. It will all depend on how well the supporting cast for Vinson comes thru. Tullahoma and CC will both be strong at guard and each have a post player with lots of upside. Those 2 games next year will be a war. As a unit, LC is strong. They have good coaching and have taken their lumps with a young lineup and this may be the year it pays off. I don't see CC dropping to 3rd. Just don't think anyone can contain Bella night after night.  I do feel like the #1 seed for the tournament could be decided by a tie breaker. It will be an entertaining district race next year.

The number one seed does not always mean anything when it comes to the tournament but it could mean a lot next year just to stay out of having to play the third seed.

That coach, who was let go, has been linked to a few jobs in East and Middle TN. He does have Insell ties with TN Flight AAU, so it may make sense.

I thought my FC Rebels were going to hire the Rhea County coach but we got a good one.  I thought he took the Stewart Creek job, is this true?

I do think it is funny that neither of the assistants, not named Helton, has not been brought up in any of the discussion for this spot.

We do not want the assistants.  Are they up for the job at FCHS?

No way would Mclennan leave Huntland to go up there. It would be a step down from his current job. The guy from Cascade would be a home run hire.

I thought the gentleman from cascade accepted the job but just this morning my grandson told me they were still interviewing this week and a coach from Rhea County was interviewing next week.  Which coach from Rhea County?  I know we will not get coach McLennan.

No, but I heard that a coach that applied said he applied on Friday and has an interview next week. Now if they are going to name someone, as you said on Monday, then it has to be Holt who I heard said it was offered to him and he wouldn't give up softball. So unless their stance has changed on that, they wont be naming anyone Monday and probably not next week at least until all the interviews are over.

Maybe it will be Coach Holt

That's funny, heard that they haven't even interviewed anyone yet. So unless they have changed their minds and are going to let Holt coach both softball and basketball, it will be hard to announce it Monday when they haven't even done interviews yet.

Oh, you must know all the inside information because I do not know anything except what I hear.  Did they just offer coach holt without interviewing him?

What I had heard was that Bean, the director, wants the new coach to only coach 1 sport. The fact that Holt is the head softball, but assistant basketball would fall in line with this since he is not the head coach of 2 sports. Also the old Tullahoma coach is the one that was let go before he ever coached a game, I think it was rumored that he had gotten in some trouble for some marijuana and that cost him his job there at Tullahoma. I think once he was let go from there he ended up at Stewart's Creek last year as an assistant.

I heard we hired someone who use to coach but I have not read it in the news

I’m not sure if anyone else has heard this but I am hearing from a reliable source that the white county coach has been contacted about possibly going there. Apparently he would take his daughter and the freshman that came from warren county would go back with him as well. Is there any truth or is this a rumor?

I also heard he was taking that job at Warren and they were giving him some administrative duties.  Guess it is not true, but it is part of the rumor mill.  Wish he would come to FC

I don't think Jack Harlow is walking back thru those gym doors.

Unfortunately you hit the nail on the head my friend.  Let an old rebel reminisced on good times.

Lippe and cannon are coaching in warren co. McAllister is a head coach at Mckenzie . Not a very impressive list but it is Warren Co, they will be last place next year even if  Geno took the job !!!

Is the Shred coach at Shelbyville? I would think that would be a good job if someone was looking to build something.  I enjoyed it when my Rebels would play Warren County back in the early 2000’s, very exciting games.

3rd 3rd 4th 4th - that’s the last 4 years district finish. Only 7 teams in the district, really 6, Columbia is beyond horrible. Never really competed with the top teams. 4 out of the 6 teams go to region so that’s not a huge accomplishment. It was time for a change.

Ask Columbia, Tullahoma, Lawrence County, Lincoln County if going to region is not a big deal or much less finishing in the top four in the district.  I would say it is a big deal because if you are not going means you are not very competitive.  I hope we hire someone that can help us become a basketball program like we were in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s

Like I said, if you say so. I have watched them play different times over the past 2 years. Every time I saw them it looked like they struggled to score. That doesn't mean that they did have open shots or the philosophy was bad, they couldn't hit layups. The coach has nothing to do with that. What the coach has to do with is getting kids into position to score, but the coach can't shoot the shots for the kids. As far as Helton's attitude, if telling kids the truth and not putting up with bullcrap out of kids is a bad attitude, then yeah I guess he did. Now as far as ruffling feathers, I am not a bird so that's not an issue. We agree to disagree and that's it. Move one.

I would also say going to the region almost every year is a good thing. Coach did a good job I’m interested to see who they can replace him with.
