  1. Thanks for coming back and owning your comments. Not too many will do that these days. Good luck to Beech the rest of the way. It was a heck of a game, and I hope we get to play it again in November.
  2. I’m perfectly content with 6-4 and a region sweep, as long as we play good football and avoid any injuries while doing it. 7-3 with a win over Brentwood or Germantown would be a really good season. I know 3 losses is not acceptable by us in most years, but all things considered, I think it would be a very respectable record for this year. I still think we’ll be a different team come playoff time, and if fully healthy, can make a run in 5A.
  3. They wouldn’t be commenting had we played a couple cupcakes in the first two weeks like most of their teams did.
  4. Dude, there’s a huge difference between Haywood/Beech and Crockett/Obion. We’re not even having the same conversation here.
  5. I hope I’m right, I hope you’re right, but at this point, I’ll just take a win
  6. I think DC will be improved from last year. They’ve played pretty well the first two weeks of the season. With that being said, they haven’t been tested the way HC has, nor the way HC will test them. I think it’ll be close in the first half, maybe 14 or 20 to 7. HC makes some adjustments at the half and it isn’t close. 33-14 HC wins their home opener.
  7. @PatriotNation we keep running these guys off and they don’t want to debate anymore.
  8. Speaking of down, let’s talk about that purple team in your avatar. And before you say they tied HC in a scrimmage, let’s not forget they didn’t have a single first down and scored on 3 busted plays. One of which was against the back ups. In regards to our QB being a backup in Martin, most QB’s across the state would be a backup to the Simpson kid. He’s a very good player, but ours isn’t too bad either. There’s a reason he’s ranked #1 in the state for his class. The kid is going to be something special. And he carved up that bulldog defense in our scrimmage. He beat out a junior and two sophomores to win the job, played tough against #1 Haywood on the road, and had #2 Beech on the ropes at Shackle Island. I wouldn’t trade him for yours or most anyone else’s, I do know that.
  9. This game was definitely decided on special teams, and not by the kick at the end either. That will get most of the blame, but it was other special teams plays that ended up costing us. We played well enough on O and D to win this thing. Kudos to Beech on a great game. Great atmosphere as well. I fully expect to see y’all again. Feeling very confident in our team after tonight. Really hope #8 is ok and not seriously injured.
  10. Jeff is either broke or a coward. If you’re going to throw shade like that, you better be able to put your money where your mouth is. I’ll be glad to release him from this bet, but you have to admit that you are a troll and never believed your own score prediction. I figure he’s the type that we won’t hear from until after the outcome has been decided. And if HC wins, he’ll probably change his screen name.
  11. He needs to put up the cash or change his prediction, IMO. Where you at @werazzlin
  12. Beech may very well win the game, but I’ll put $100 down that they don’t win by 28 points. Will you do the same?
  13. Great analysis. I almost want to think the young QB and receiving core have a breakout game Friday night. If given time of course. As sound as Beech will be on D, it’s just hard for me to pull the trigger on that thought.
  14. I think you are correct. I’m just showing my bias with that pick. This will be an extremely tough challenge for HC this week. I expect both teams to progress from week one, and hoping for a great game. I wasn’t going to make this one, but looks as if a schedule change on my part is going to allow it. Looking forward to a great atmosphere. Good luck to you guys!
  15. 23-21 Big Red. A safety is the difference in this one, and HC gets a big win on the road.
  16. Most call me the ultimate optimist, but I think we play Beech tough, and the young OL and QB have a much better showing in week 2.
  17. We could be the best 6-4 team in the state by playoff time, and that very well could be the case. I think we win 1-3 of the non-region games though and finish 7-3. This week will be tough, but I do think we match up better with Beech and will see some improvement.
  18. Now that week one is behind us, Henry County now faces a familiar foe in Week 2 of their gauntlet of schedule to open the season. What changes need to be made from last week against Haywood to this week vs Beech? Do we see a change at QB from the freshman? Will there be a shuffle on the OL? Will 1 and 8 see more playing time on offense? Defensive changes? Are there any significant injuries that will come into play this week? I personally think you have to stay with the freshman QB. I know some have mentioned otherwise, but he was starting for a reason, and not to give him experience for next year or the year after either. I don’t know what other changes could be made, I just think we have to play better. I do think 8 needs more carries if he’s healthy. 1 has to be on the field when we’re on offense. He’s our best deep threat. And I think, even though Beech may be a better overall team than Haywood, that we match up better with them than we did the Tomcats. What say you guys?
  19. No it didn’t. Odoms wasn’t on the field much on offense either though. I assume it was because he was locked up with #4 on defense all night, but still, we definitely could’ve used him out there. #8 has to get more involved on offense too.
  20. QB absolutely looked like a freshman at time last night, I don’t know how many freshman could’ve taken the beating he took and kept going though. That was hard to watch. The Haywood DL is really good, and not taking anything away from them, but we have to fix our OL struggles. Play calling was decent, just decent. I thought the D played pretty well considering the positions they were being left in by the O. Haywood is a really good team, and much further along than we are. I think we have the opportunity to be a really good team, but it’s going to take time. GBR
  21. Really could see this game going either way. Both teams will be better later in the season, and both teams have some “newness” around them to start the year. I’ll go with the team with the less newness surrounding them (and a homer pick). GBR
  22. Scrimmages never tell the full story. I’m sure Beech will be just fine. It’s going to be a brutal 3 of 4 game stretch to start the season for my Patriots. If we can weather the storm, it’ll pay dividends towards another deep playoff run.
  23. I like it either way as long as it’s a W!
