  1. Rebels defense is doing really good here in the first qr. Jordan Woods 52 is having a good game on defense with a few good tackles and a pass knocked down
  2. Both offenses are staring off a little slow
  3. Mckenzie draws first blood late in the 1st quarter 6-0 on a 4th down pass to Logan lyles
  4. Waverly has a lot of pressure on them tonight coming in 0-1 and now going against Huntingdon who has 3 of the best backs in West TN running the ball and also a very good O and D line. Last week huntingdon was blowing Mckenzie’s O line off the ball every play and was in the back field before the ball was even handed off. If waverly can keep pressure off the qb and give time to throw they can have a good night passing the ball.
  5. What would you suggest for a good bite to eat before the game.
  6. It’s game day once again. Hoping for a big crowd tonight and a Rebel victory. Weather is great and Mckenzie seemed to have a good week of practice. There walk through yesterday they looked a lot cleaner. Praying for both teams to be injury free and a good clean ball game. Go Rebels!!
  7. I’ve been very impressed with WC football program how they’ve turned it around these past few years getting wins on teams that they usually never beat in the past. And it’s really surprising a lot of people.
  8. It won’t be an easy game for Waverly. Huntingdon has 4 backs that can run the ball very well and are a threat when they have a lane to run. When they played Mckenzie last week they really didn’t drive the ball down field on Mckenzie they just big played them all night. With Ensley scoring having 5 of there touchdowns and Lawton scoring 1 they have a variety of talent. They can switch all 4 of them in and out and run the ball all night and when the defense is winded they will break one loose.
  9. A lot of the senior class had players quit too or get kicked off. Braxton Hobson would have been a big part of the o-line and Nick Baker also. The line this year has a lot of size most of them are young guys which is alright but I think last week was a wake up call for most of them this isn’t middle school football anymore. I think you’ll see a big difference tomorrow night.
  10. Yea your right. Mckenzie was also on a good track to a good season that year but they had about 5 or 6 starters out that year from injuries. It’s been that way every year here lately it seems. 3 or 4 of our key starters get hurt and don’t play the rest of the season.
  11. Just like 2017 they beat Peabody in a nail biter and got close to beating union city that year too, and 2018 they beat Union city. But I can say the Mckenzies team just doesn’t have the fight that the teams in years past had. You look at 2007-2010 they had trips to a state championship in 07 and the rest they took it to the semifinals and always came up short by 2 or 3 points every year. Its not Comer it’s the effort the players are putting out. I remember in 2014-2015 they turned it around there and made it to the quarterfinals those 2 years. But we haven’t made it to a playoff game since 2016 and that year we only made it to the 1st round. And I’m not talking bad about the boys I’m just saying the effort isn’t being put out like I’ve witnessed before. I’ve seen the Rebels come back from a 3 touchdown set back in the 3rd qr.
  12. One of Mckenzie’s middle linebacker Jordan Barnhart is hurt with an ankle/knee injury. I seen earlier on his Facebook that he will be sitting out this week also.
  13. WC running back #24 Jarrius Weatherford is gonna be the one to watch. From what I’ve seen of him he’s a pretty big guy and hard to take down, lots of speed and strength.
  14. Do you know anything about how well they run the ball? I’ve heard they have a good running back this year.
  15. The young Rebel team travels to Atwood Friday night which should be a pretty good game. This WC ball team is not what it used to be in prior years with them having good seasons the past 2 to 3 years and also making a run into the playoffs last year. The rebels come into week 2 with a few injuries and not to mention a key component to there team running back Micha Austin, who should be returning soon in the coming weeks. The rebels offensively have to do a better job up front preventing the pass rush and giving Jarrett time to throw the ball and make holes for the running back, as far as defense goes they will need to be able to stop WC’s run game and prevent big plays from being made. The younger guys starting just need to learn to finish all 4 quarters and not get gassed after the first half. But Friday night should be interesting and I’m looking forward to a Rebel win which is long overdue.
  16. Mckenzie played exceptionally well for the most part of the 1st half. The rebels forced the Mustangs to punt on there first 2 drives of the game. But after running back Micha Austin went down early in the 2nd qr, the tempo changed and the Mustangs capitalized. Rebels has to send in freshman Marquez Taylor to replace Micha but Taylor has some really good runs for being inexperienced and coming in under the fire. He will be starting again this week in WC but you should be able to see a difference in his performance since he’s got some playing time in early. But the rebels are a young team this year with only 7 or 8 seniors and the majority being freshman and sophomore. But they are looking better as far as I’ve seen this week in practice. Friday night should be interesting.
