  1. I agree, the key is keeping the younger kids (freshmen/sophomores) engaged and develop them. LC has some good middle school kids, but they are losing them when they get to high school. I believe the right coach that can relate to the kids can turn things around but it will take time.
  2. I think getting a Lincoln County guy is part of the problem. They should hire an “outsider” that is able to relate to the players. They need to make football fun again. They have a lot of kids who don’t play because football is more of a job than a game. Yes, football is a lot of hard work, so having a coach the players love and respect is critical to building a strong program long term.
  3. I agree, the last hire was all on Heath. They need someone that can relate to the kids. They have made some strange hires in the last few years not only in football, but basketball also. Guess we will see what the smart guys come up with. If the schools were combined, they would compete with anyone in the state.
  4. Very true, it will be interesting to see who they get to be the next coach. Lots of kids walking the hallways, just can’t get them to play, not sure if it is the coach or they don’t want to invest the time. Very sad situation all around. they have Page and Summit the next two week, going to be rough
  5. True, Fayetteville is 8-0 and Lincoln County is struggling to finish the season. They are now allowing the freshmen to dress for the varsity games. Guess that helps mask the small number of players still playing.
  6. Having 3 high schools within a mile of each other makes it tough. Football has become a year round sport and if the players don’t love the coach, they won’t invest the time it takes to be competitive. It has become a full time job without any rewards. Hopefully, it will get better.
  7. Small town, and the coach was suppose to resurrect the program. They only have about 35 kids still playing and that isn’t a lot for a 5A school. He is a “seasoned “ coach.
  8. Received a alert from the Elk Valley Times saying it was for the rest of the season and he would be “reassigned” in the district. McNeese will be the coach until the end of the season. Very messy situation that not a lot of people are talking about.
