  1. Almost got by me. Congratulations Mike! Very deserving!
  2. I don't really feel that strong. Just giggin' whoever...!
  3. Well, according to other threads, if we change venues and add showers all wrestling will be at peace......the age of Aquarius/w the 5th Deminsion and all that........
  4. I certainly think if you change venues and have showers to accommodate........
  5. Its an attempt to create leverage to start momentum for a change of venue. There are a list of them. A lot of people will jump on the bandwagon and rah rah each talking point, but I tend to agree with you, there is little but air in the bag.
  6. For the same reasons..... This is not possible if their HS cannot field a full team. A lot of schools will not schedule meets during the year against schools that only have a few wrestlers .....the same schools cannot get invited to tournaments to meet everyone. But I think your post is making my argument.
  7. Allen Arena, Lipscomb University campus, is $4000 per day (before discounts I am told). Nice facility. Covered parking garage. Lipscomb might be wanting to talk. It would be nice to have a few thousand people on your campus as potential students. They could market a booth at the arena. Curb Center? Perhaps about the same money. Amy Grant's husband Vince Gill has that connection, her son wrestled at Ensworth Middle, then at Lipscomb High school, but they were not wrestling people, so to speak. Just throwing that out there.
  8. Do you think it was because of the mats or another wrestler who was already infected?
  9. Sir Beast, we go where they send us. An official cannot have an opinion? I have seen as many wrestlers, coaches, ADs, and principal's come and go as anyone currently involved in wrestling. I saw, wrestled in it and officiated in it when it was 1 Division only, two divisions, now three. Got to see when we had a sub state that was equally a bad idea and it was ended with little fan fair. I saw Dual competition come in and split again (now duck, but my opinion there is it is exactly where divisions should be; in Dual Team championships). I have coached and seen it from the coaches chair and had the privilege of working with a few kids clubs. I think I've earned the right to have an opinion, thank you. You cannot point out to a single post where I am speaking against wrestlers. My whole point on this thread is don't come on here as an A-AA school and tell us who would have placed in the AAA tournament. A-AA coaches (I debated this with a few) administrators and so on stated they could not compete in AAA and begged for someone (TSSAA) to "even the playing field.?!" (laughing)...... They wanted and got a whole new field because they stated they couldn't compete on the field they were on. Fine. You got it. (not you personally, but you universally here and forward) So stop with the grandiose dream you "could have won AAA." You couldn't. It is not possible, because you were never there! It doesn't matter how many times you beat the AAA 152, or 160 or 113 etc, etc, , if you don't do it the 3rd week in February it was all for naught. This was NO fault of any kid. I heard from many coaches at a A-AA regional that their kids were disappointed there weren't competing in the AAA states. Once again it is, apparently, school administrations that have screwed this up. Again. But it is what it is. Even this thread title "Small School...."Big School"..... A-AA will always be Little Brother.
  10. z, I nominate you as spokesman for this demure group. Russiabear wants to pack the meeting with TSSAA, perhaps there will be an open mic. Getcha a sign that says NO MORE COWPALACE. They'll put you front and center. Standing up for change is easy. Getting change is another matter.
  11. Those things will have little to no bearing on a new venue. To those in a face to face with TSSAA, I would refrain from calling it the Cow Palace.
  12. That's GREAT. It wouldn't be a bad idea to find an ESPN email address and bomb their box with what an outstanding decision they have made. Take it a step further and contact any of the commercial sponsors that THIS sponsorship has made you begin to use product "x" and thank you. The more they feel it on nationwide basis, the more and better coverage wrestling will get. I just realized I got the Big Ten channel when I switched to Direct TV as part of their basic package. If you do the same thing there, it will become a pay package, so DONT! But I did see Minnesota beat Penn State and will get to see the Big Ten tournament. And I saved money from Comcast who did provide anything but poor service.
  13. For liberals it makes sense. Sort of like a 6 for 1 stock split. It would give CA a total of 12 senators or approx. 12% of the senate. The republicans are about stupid enough to let it happen. I suggest they divide up their congressional delegation into approximately 14 weight classes.........well, you get the idea.....
  14. Totally agree. Wrestle where you can with what you've got. Just wrestle. On two fronts, I would hate to see kids leaving a coach that has developed them for the competition of a stronger AAA division. At the same time, I would be devastated if my kids coach left for a plumb job in the AAA division. But I could fault neither. A coach's juices don't stop flowing after you have finished competing. Its funny, they don't for officials either!
  15. According to your statistics it makes me question why A-AA left with all the success they were having. Maybe they wanted to leave AAA for the better competition in A-AA? Geez that makes all kinds of sense. I am thankful for the more intelligent ones posting to these boards.
  16. That post is on your own. I never said, nor implied any of that. Your son is an A-AA State Champ! He is at the pinnacle of what he could do. You wrestle for first and he did successfully! He made his decisions and will make many many more the rest of his life and I bet he makes good ones! This thread started out for the purpose of listing wrestlers from A-AA could have placed in AAA, and that is in error. They could not, it is not possible. It gives the appearance of wanting some to acquiesce that this is so. Rubbish. I am not calling for some sort of protest with A-AA kids revolting and moving to AAA schools. I am saying that is going to happen and I think you will lose coaching talent for the same reasons. It will always be a little brother. And I don't feel there is anything so wrong about that. But I don't feel it is good for the sport. I will tell you this. Ravenwood could have put their JV in the tournament and it would look totally different. Now there's an idea.
  17. No, in fact I am sure it wasn't any kids choice to form a A-AA division. At least six coaches told me at the A-AA region how disappointed several of their kids were not to be competing at the AAA level. Many of the coaches, ADs and principals that insisted on this division will likely have moved on in a couple of years.
  18. That IS the conversation we want to have. But if the kid remains in A-AA, he wont be in that conversation. I gave you up to possibly 50 that could place, but we both know the number will be ZERO. No kid in A-AA can possibly place in AAA. They said they couldn't compete, so give me a division I can compete in. Sorry, A-AA made this bed so they best get used to it. This is a great video. I highly recommend it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZyz4Jk1LrY
  19. Those are the kids in the future will find a way to move into AAA zones
  20. You know WG, it could be 12 or 50 out of 224, But we'll never know.
  21. God, faith, family. Wrestling. A kid that wins state at A-AA is a tremendous young man, and has my utmost respect. ANY kid that wrestles for two years gains a tremendous amount of character and fortitude. The ones I know who did so and quit always regretted it. There is no sport like it that tests a young man so. Your term is correct. Watered down. It is what has become of our society with regard to discipline and manhood. The school's have an option to compete in the AAA level I think. But those in favor of the split and stay in A-AA are settling for something less. Set Your Standards HIGH......Then RAISE Them. -- Dan Gable (lolling....read my avatar)
  22. Wont matter. Small schools really need to get used to this. You in no way can claim, shoulda, coulda, woulda. Sorry. You could have done it on the mat, but your hierarchy decided to begin and remain an A-AA school division. If you want to eat with the big dogs, you have to run with the big dogs. You will NEVER hear anyone say, "HE COULDA WON THE SMALL SCHOOL DIVSION." What you said by forming this division and separating yourself is, "we cant compete on that level." You can put up all the scw lists you want to, it doesn't matter. Maybe we can simply identify A-AA as the SCW Division. Funny thing. The football boys that are responsible for this mess, where are they? They have moved on and left a mess of our sport. It will always be the "Little Brother." In spite of that, I am for ya. Wrestling is great on any level. But in order to be considered the BEST, You have to wrestle the BEST. You have chosen another path. I am looking for the first A-AA that elects to move up and wrestle in the AAA division. Surely that is an option. You know, it might be TSSAA could have to let an A-AA kid transfer to a AAA school by pleading that creating this division they are jeopardizing scholarship opportunities.
  23. They only bash when you're good. Feed on it.
