Im hearing that several coaches have told Blake that they would not be helping next year? Anybody know any truth to this? Also heard that Blake didnt ride bus home with kids after 4th round Hampton loss? I sure hope thats a rumor...

I can assure you that second part is false. As far as coaches, volunteer coaches come and go from all programs so there could be some truth in that.

A team with an offense made to chew up clock didn't.  TC blew it, Hampton was no juggernaut, just a good, well coached, steady team.

As far as depth, you are wrong, TC has been a 1-2 player team since 2018-2019.  Again, the feeder program has failed them tremendously in the past 4-5 years.

Don’t think anyone has claimed TC as a juggernaut themselves. It’s funny but I thought the objective is to make your best players the focal point of your offense…. Tell yourself whatever you need to tell yourself to sleep at night after you blow out loss last week. It’s funny how you never showed back up on that thread after the fact…. The least you could have done was come give us your best excuse. Move along troll.

When you are up by 2 scores, it is kinda choking, no matter how you explain it away.  You guys came in thinking it was a likely lock, but didn't finish out.  Hampton is no super team, just a good, solid, well coached team who exposed your lack of depth and scheme.  This loss feels an awful lot like the Watertown loss, your guys weren't prepared to go.

I agree that when you are up 2 scores in the 4th, you have to find a way to win it. Plain and simple. TC didn’t turn it over, didn’t take a big game changing penalty, and didn’t give up a huge explosive play in the 4th…. That would be choking it away. Hampton executed when it matters most. To say otherwise is taking away from them. This isn’t college where you got 85 players…. It’s small division high school football. Depth isn’t a reality. Speculate all you want about what TC did or didn’t do. I prefer to give credit where credit is due. They played well, we didn’t .

  4. @uknoit2 and @pujo my biggest piece of advice going to the BlueCross Bowl would be to go down the night before so you can get to the stadium early and tailgate well before the game. The game itself is special but pair it with the fellowship before the game with family, friends, and fellow Hampton supports and you have one heck of a day to remember no matter the outcome.

Dang good posts. 1st class 'pharmer

Give credit where credit is due. Your boy is player. Most seen the impact he had on offense, especially down the stretch. Equally important were a couple tackles on defense. One of which in the first half when we gave it to #3 going toward the visitor sideline and he came up and made a great tackle on a tough to tackle dude….I think may have saved a TD because he had a lot of room to run if he misses

  6. I felt like the biggest play of the game was when Hampton has the ball down 20-8 and facing a 4th and 8. Qb ripped one up the seam and found his guy to get them inside the 10. If they don’t convert that, TC has ball at midfield up 12 points.

Last night was not about scheme it was about execution. They team that executed for majority of the night won the game. TC had 2 huge plays back to back or we could possibly be telling a completely different story this morning. Sure a couple pass plays might have helped loosen things up but that isn’t this qb strength by any means. If the opportunity to pass doesn’t match the ability to pass then you don’t do it until absolutely necessary. That just my opinion

To read other threads, TC gonna blow us away. 3+ scores better. Already got TC playing Westview. I reckon we're still gonna play tonight to just save face

Not gonna hear that being said from this end. Not to say that is outside the realm of possibilities but I don’t think style and pace of play will allow for that.

These boys aren’t going to overlook this Hampton team and this coaching staff sure isn’t going to do so. Far as we are concerned, we have 1 mission tonight and that is to drive back to middle TN with a W. Whether that is by 1 or 30….. this is a get the job done kind of team. It’s strictly business

We hate the dang matchup but thats who the TSSAA is sending us. Why do they always pit you against the best teams.BROTHER

To hear the middle TN sports media tell it, Westview is the only team with a chance to win it in 2A

This is an odd build up, it appears both teams like the matchup, so it could be a shootout tonight.... but I doubt it, first team to 20 may win this one

Possessions will be at a premium. Cannot afford to turn the ball over in a game like this

Safe travels coming up to Hampton. Looking forward to Friday too. I'll say this I've always respected Trousdale. I watched the 2005 game and I agree with other posters, that was the best team that Hampton has ever played. If y'all beat us Friday I'll be pulling for you all during the championship. With that being said we've never made the championship game. We  are 0 for 4 in the semi-finals whereas you guys have made the finals so many times you expect it. Maybe you all could find a soft spot in your heart and let us make it one time...

Same here! If you make it to Chatt I will be pulling for you guys. Who doesn’t love the underdog story and the guy that’s never been there before? If you keep knocking on that door long enough, eventually somebody will answer. TC will do its best not let that be this year come Friday night

Been awhile since the ole MVP made an appearance on the boards. Read some here and there over this year but thought I'd chime in.

This game will be a war at the line of scrimmage. The home squad has some monsters that will be hard to move and look like they will require some double team blocks. That opens the door for one on one match-ups between the ball carrier and LBs/DBs. Then when Hampton has the ball, its going to be tough to hold that line and keep the LBs clean and free to roam. Bottom line, and I believe Coach Satt said this years ago, this game comes down to blocking and tackling. The team that does that best goes for the Gold.

Now for some none relevant memories of the '05 game. "Blue 3" was the call of the first play and I vividly remember seeing Dillehay look the Cover 3 safety off my way, then hit Harper (whose son will make his name known come Friday) in stride up the left hash mark. It was over from there. On 1 particular drive we ran 32 and 38 knock (off tackle with a kickout block by a FB or HB) probably 6, 7 maybe 8 times in a row. No Huddle calling the play out loud at the line. We changed the formation and mixed in some motion but it was the same play. After a couple of times the LBs started pointing out where we were running it. Boom there's 6 yards. Wam another 7. Bam ill take 8. Thank you mam for 9 more. Hard nosed stop it if you can football. That night we were playing for more than a opportunity to go to the ship but also for a classmate. Our starting Center, Harris, had torn his ACL the week before and we knew he could only play once more before surgery and we wanted that game to be for the Ball! Ill never forget assisting on the last tackle and rolling on top of McGowan as the final horn sounded and yelling "We Going to the Ship BABY!" Special group of guys for sure and I'm not afraid to say I love each one of them. But in all honesty though, We dont hold a candle stick to that '97 team, Wanna talk about some dudes! But that's a "debate" (not really) that's for another time and place.

For the kids involved Friday Night, Cherish the Moments! Enjoy your teammates. Be focused but take those mental pictures and stash them away. They will mean something in the future. Best of luck, safe travels to all and praying for no injuries for either team! Happy Thanksgiving!

Had a chance to hear some of the stories Friday night at H20... love hearing them. The thing that is crazy to me is they are told like they happened the night before. They are so ingrained in our memories that we could tell the exact same story word for word 30 years down the road.

On another note, I know it is a long drive to Hampton but I hope the TC faithful pile in and make the trip. I hope those Hampton fans that haven't seen a game all year come out and support their team. There isn't a whole lot that can rival a cold Friday (High of 39 in Hampton) with small division playoff football. Many will walk into opening kickoff knowing this could be it... the last time the pull on those shoulder pads and strap up that helmet.  They will not be perfect but they will play every snap hoping to be perfect, making every block and every tackle. They are playing, not for a scholarship offer but for their pride, the parents' and family's pride, and the pride of a small town with lofty expectations. Both sides deserve a packed house and a chance to play for some hardware the following week. Let's give them exactly that come Friday night.

I will get down off my soapbox now!

Is Hampton better than Tyner, Meigs or Watertown?

    1 hour ago, JACKET316 said:

I would compare them to Meigs, but with less speed and more size.. However, they're going to be good and we should not be overlooking them.. It's the Semis so they're doing something right.

Their offense definitely reminds me of a style that Meigs would run. Not sure you could compare them to Watertown or Tyner.... they run different schemes that Hampton does.

Preciate the assessment on the TC/Gordonsville game.  It should be a better game than the Cloudland/SP match up for sure.  Scores can be misleading sometimes.

Don't know anything about Cloudland this year but best of luck Friday. I am afraid your may need a lot of it dealing with those Pirates. I know we have had some battles with them over the years

I believe you all got the toughest opponent of the two Carter county schools.  I know scores don't always add up but Gordonsville just lost by 4 to Trousdale and look how South Pitt dismantled them. I ain't counting Cloudland out, you boys upon the Mountain have alot of grit, I'll be rooting for you all. Has Cloudland or Hampton ever been to the title game before?

I can't say that I disagree. I think Cloudland has both hands full on Friday night. One thing I will say is that TC and Gordonsville game is a little misleading. Was not very close till Gordy scored 2 touchdown at the very end (1 coming off an onside kick). I am not in the business of comparing scores though.... all about matchups
