  1. Getting there is great and I know. I was a senior on the '98 USJ team that got blown out by Trousdale Co(their '97 and '98 state championship teams may be the best 1A teams of all-time). It was one of the greatest moments of my life. However, I think just getting there is turning old. 0-7 in state title games is just plain bad at this point. You always want to beat the best but with DA moving up in classification, you take the cards you are dealt(and do not complain!)! 3 more years to try and win it all before they classify again!
  2. Turning point of the game may be the "catch" and fumble before half by USJ. Should have been an incomplete pass but instead leads to a TD by Davidson right before half. So instead of at least a 21-19 game at half, it should have been at worst 21-12, if not 28-12(assuming USJ scores on that drive). Plus, I am tired of hearing these announcers talking about how Davidson did not bring their A game in the first half. Wait, what? USJ played exceptional defense and killed themselves with turnovers or the score would have been worse. Give the Bruins some credit for that!
  3. USJ streams their games each week. http://tncitylinktv.com/channel/jackson-tv/ This link should get you to the game each week. A replay should be up soon. Hope this helps.
  4. Not one to throw complete blame on refs but I watched the whole game and it was awful. 26 flags either on USJ or around 21 of the 26 on USJ. The sideline official on the USJ sideline threw about 16 of them it seemed. USJ wanted a pass interference with 3 minutes left in the game and instead of it being 3rd and 10 on the no call, the sideline judge threw a flag for sideline warning(our 2nd and a 5 yard penalty). We get 14 yards and are then stopped on 4th and 1. Props to JCS though for converting a 4th and 20 with 57 seconds left that help set up the winning field goal. But 26 flags and almost all of them are on you? That's why the parents were mad. I would have been too if I were at the game. Let the kids play and decide the game, not the refs. Even Coach Hardegree after the game said he had not seen anything like that in his 47 years of coaching. Hoping there is a rematch in the playoffs.
  5. This time I can complain about your run-on sentence post with terrible English! Haha. I watched the game on TV and heard the siren a handful of times. At first I thought it might be an escort for CPA or ECS arriving to the stadium, but it was definitely not every play DA had the ball. No matter, you are right, USJ should not have had the siren. DA's run game was just too much in the end. They stuck to what they knew would work and that was just pound the ball with power formations.
  6. Congrats to DA. USJ had no answer for their ground game. However, those were some pretty flag happy refs. I will say the field goal looked good and if that is called that way, USJ can kick the field goal for the lead with 4 minutes to go. Then would USJ be lifting the gold ball or would DA make one final drive? We will never know. But, it did look like a bad call on the field. It is crazy to think USJ is 0-6 in the finals, as I was part of one of those.
  7. Yep, I did. But actually, this was not my first time to post. I used to post in the early/mid 2000's but forgot my login info. I just come to read the message boards and check scores. And the main point to my post was the fact that USJ controlled the game from start to finish, with the fact that the score could have been worse. I am just glad I never had to listen to cowbells when I played for USJ in the late 90's. The biggest issue I had with the other night was the fact NCS fans were ringing them when the QB was under center. In the end, all that matters is USJ won and is headed to Cookeville. Ready for the Bruins to bring home their first State Title and break the 0-5 streak(which I was a part of my Senior year in '98, when we lost in the Clinic Bowl to Trousdale Co., who might have been the best 1A team of all-time along with their '97 team)! Rebel just sayin
  8. I disagree on deceiving. While, yes, it was only 14-7 with 6 minutes to go, USJ seemed to be in control this whole game. I will not say dominated due to it being close in the 4th, but it was close to it. NCS scored on a trick play on 3rd and 12 and had the ball on the 10 in the 4th. That was about the extent of anything I saw from them offensively. USJ had 3, yes 3 defensive touchdowns called back. 2 looked like crap calls from watching it online but unfortunately there was no replay. The refs were doing no favors for USJ and that is the only way I thought they might lose, from some of those questionable flags. Besides that, USJ seemed to control the game, especially on defense. Plus, how the heck are cowbells and sirens NOT considered artificial noisemakers?! C’mon, that just seems like trash in my opinion, especially ringing them while the QB is giving the cadence. I am no fan of MS State but at least the SEC makes them stop ringing when the QB is under center. Even though USJ should have kneeled with 20 seconds to go, after listening to those cowbells all night, I chuckled at the last score. The crew doing the game on the radio/stream even contacted an official with TSSAA and he said yes, they should be warned and then penalized for the noise. Oh well, Go Bruins!
