  1. I saw the score from what to South Side did to that team from Alabama. I will say no one around here will give them a game. I'll be looking for them in Murfreesboro. From scores, it looks like South Gibson is struggling right now vs good teams. Chester and McNairy will battle in their district. I think Crockett and Dyersburg battle in their district.

I believe SS has just a good chance as anyone right now.  Tough match-up for everyone they would face.  Lawrence County plays Loretto Tuesday should let everyone see how good Lawrence County is or if it has been a fluke.  Good games this week for all the AAA teams that want to compete for a chance at the glass house

South Side just knocked off Gibson Co and Trinity Christian Academy convincingly. I hear they are on a mission. Their schedule looks a little better than past years with McKenzie, Trussville from Alabama and Ritter Prep from Missouri. Could we see a rematch of last years championship game?

Bartlett is a college team. I watched them and only team that would beat Bartlett is Bartlett, IMO. Huge team and very quick and fast. I know Webb’s story as well. They have D-1 players from coast to coast. Would be a great game. Gibson County was very fortunate to beat Bartlett last year. They played with more sense of urgency this year and someone said they had a couple more big time players. They are loaded. We didn’t play them terrible as far as ball handling. They were just a head taller than us and quicker. Tough matchup if they are dialed in. You may get your wish. Bartlett may play Webb in the Dynamix TN Report Shootout Dec. 9th and 10th.

Bartlett is definitely a huge team and maybe Sims makes them better. I saw South Side best them in 2OT game this summer at Covington. They were fouling a lot and the post that's going to NC State could not keep up. They were a very cocky bunch. Not that great to me, very undisciplined. I don't think they can beat Bradley Central, Blackman or Bearden.

I have only mentioned teams I have seen play with my own two eyes.  Your group will be there and will have a very easy road to get there with a talented group of young ladies and one of the best coaches in the state who does a lot of work that goes unnoticed by most.  I think the physical play of Upperman and what they have to deal with inside their district throughout the year as well as their nondistrict schedule sets them up for another run. They are going to be young in some key spots and it will show at some times so that could be the deciding factor but come tournament time Coach McWilliams will have them ready to play as will your coach.

Definitely agree Upperman is the favorite. That's a well coached bunch of girls. Down here in West Tn, Coach McNeal over at South Side always runs a good program and I was happy to see them make a deep run last season. He returns a good group so I couldn't talk AAA without them.

Upperman should be the favorite until someone can beat them.  Beating a very good Oakland team in the season opener should send a message to AAA basketball that they are not going anywhere.  White County looked impressive at Lebanon last Saturday and will be right there at the end.  Cumberland County and Livingston Academy will both be very good once again and that district will be very tough.  South Gibson is a very well coached team and Lincoln County had a good summer and preseason and they will shock some teams.  Lawrence County looked very good on Tuesday on the road and has very good length in a weak district.  Still be interesting to see how Page does this year with a new coach.  Was not impressed with Tullahoma at Lebanon with the new hire, they have a lot of talent and could surprise some people but was not well coached.  Lot of good teams in the middle tennessee area in AAA, but Upperman is still the champion.

This is a good post, but I am confused. Is this a Middle Tn comment or a AAA comment? How do you mention all those middle tn/upper cumberland teams, add South Gibson, and not mention the runner up from the past season who only loss by 5 and returned 5 of their top 7 or 8? Heard they could have easily beaten Munford by 50, but one official had a say in that.

  6. Interested to see all these teams that have been mentioned. Upperman is the defending champ, but I know they lost the PG, but return the post player. South Gibson returns everybody, South Side returns a lot also. What about the others that made it to MBoro last March, Page, Dyer Co, Greeneville, Fayette Ware? I believe Hall of Champions/Fame games start this coming week, so we will see some action soon.

District titles are nothing to hang your hat on when the district is weak. South Side does well until they run into teams that don't turn the ball over.

South Side has 3 silvers and a gold in the last 11yrs. and i believe one other state tournament appearance. So I guess everybody turned the ball over until the those 3 state championship games and one semifinal game. *shrugs

Not sure if has been mentioned because just jumped in a the tail end of this thread, but another reason some of the home and home series for some of the teams mentioned here are there are 2 programs at each school and the coaches for both boys and girls have to agree play the game against another school. Maybe the girls coach wants to play a certain school but the boys coach doesnt, or vice versa. Makes it difficult if you have a coach standing in the way to get a strong schedule against quality opponents and then throw the economic wrinkle into the mix for budget and travel.

Yes this was mentioned earlier in the thread, but you are right.

Both South Gibson and South Side schedules are in Coach T.  Both look pretty solid to me.

South Gibson has home and homes with Dyersburg, Crockett County, and Gibson County; they should all be strong.  They are at McCracken Co (Ky), who is usually really good.  Also play a strong TCA team and are going to Christmas tournaments at White County and Florida.

South Side has Gibson County, TCA, McKenzie and Covington.  They also play Hewitt-Trussville (AL) and Cardinal Ritter (MO); both those teams will be good.  They are going to a different Florida tournament.

Talking to different coaches, the Florida tournaments are hit or miss.  Some of the tournaments are strong and some are terrible.

I am ready for Tuesday and Friday Nights! I think they both will be the premier AAA teams from West Tn no matter who is on their schedules. I am predicting deep runs and good 4 good battles between the two.

South Gibson and South Side's non district schedule better be a lot better than last year. Looking at a lot of their games and it was running clock. That doesn't get them ready for the Post season. I know that the boys team has to be considered but if the boys and girls coach worked together they can get some good games for both girls and boys. I am interested to see their schedules.

Schedules are posted on here and TSSAA website

I read similar post like this last year. But both made pretty deep runs. South Gibson losing in region semifinals and South Side state runner-up and from the looks of it the schedules aren't much different.

Why not just move the start of practice to october 15th?

TSSAA rules are a bit over the top if you ask me. In the past. there was summer dead period and then a no practice period once schools starts. What's the point?
