I wasn't chalking it up as a moral victory. We aren't Vanderbilt. I'm just saying no one can argue that the two teams weren't evenly matched as the score indicated this.
Interceptions! Especially the one before the half.
BUT before some pile on me... the kid was a trooper and brought it every game. MC doesn't make it to tonight without him. Talented kid who hopefully can play some DB or WR at a small college.
While I can't argue your point, McKenzie didn't play a stacked schedule either, and I can't think you can say McKenzie was ten times better than Moore. It was one point. Two good teams that battled it out.
I am proud of the effort. Hate all the turnovers. Can't do that against good teams and expect to win. Thought Comer coached amazingly except I was surprised he threw the ball on 3rd down after MC was out of time outs. The incompletion stopped the clock. Other than that, it was pretty much a masterpiece.
Forgot to mention...
Moore Co no longer has a radio feed. They only participate in the NFHS site. Some folks in the area that may not be able to venture out due to temp/weather or work may appreciate you posting a link to your broadcast before game time. Appreciate it!
True. I've never seen a field prior to nor after that lacked one blade of grass as that one did. If I recall correctly they went on to face S Pitt and got hammered so karma got em. I can guarantee it could rain 40 days and 40 nights and the field in Lynchburg wouldn't be that bad lol
I may come over to the enemy side. Don't tell the others. Haha
In all seriousness, definitely respect what McKenzie has built. Can't wait to see what unfolds on Friday.
I'm not sure how old you are but a similar situation happened to a favored Moore Co squad in the semifinals in 96. The elements slowed down a dominate line and 3 power backs. Lost 7-6 to St. Benedict. The weather can be a cruel mistress. Hopefully we see a clean game and it doesn't get sloppy.
I've done radio in the past and it's tough when you aren't in the booth. I tuned in for one of y'all's games last year. You do a great job. Good luck if this 70% chance of rain shows up. That equipment isn't cheap!
