  1. Quick turnaround on Thursday night for CPA after homecoming this past weekend. They'll rally the troops. When will a team just bracket Humphreys and dare someone else to beat them? Doing so will end up in interception after interception. Chuck and duck...
  2. Spot on JRB...chuck and duck to Humphreys. I'm feeling more like FRA by 5 rather than 1 as I previously stated.
  3. FRA is much improved. I'm calling it here, FRA over CPA - 25-24. Homecoming, spoiled.
  4. After seeing the MBA CPA game I'm thinking CPA is not going to move up to AAA. The homegrown fans are going to have a real struggle this year. Telling them we need to move up won't play well at the end of the year. They did break a couple of 10+ yard runs, but their offense was largely chuck it. 21 is a special athlete and I get trying to get him the ball often, but there was a lot of chuckin and duckin going on last night. The CPA LA game is at "The Den" this year and I wouldn't be surprised if LA puts up 60+ points and CPA will never get into scoring position without an LA turnover. CPA will milk every second of the play clock, but LA will score on almost every possession. LA linebackers will have more than 6 sacks. Blood bank guarantee.
  5. One might think the lines would fall as noted above, but I tell you, there is no love for CPA in this town. Years of arrogance has won few friends.
  6. It's pretty evident no one cares. If you do...
  7. I agree. There is a rich tradition of competition between the 2 in all sports.
  8. So what did you think of the LA v Goodpasture game?
  9. I would also add that most all of the names you have heard have been or were in the program for 3 years or more. They also toured and evaluated other private schools. As mentioned, many parents are moving here for work or away from COVID crazies and have to pick somewhere. There are no dorms like the chatty privates. There has only been one player with "stars" move in. All others have worked beyond where they imagined they could be and are becoming the best version of themselves. These kids are being coached up and trained up holistically. It's not like Walter Nolen is moving in, like he did for Powell, as the number 2 player in the country. With fully approved open enrollment rules, schools like Maryville and Oakland will continue to recruit and scoop up the best talent free of charge. You might say they have an unfair advantage as private schools go through a formal clearinghouse to approve any amount of financial aid.
  10. I actually think that's how the agreement reads.
  11. The AAA weekly gauntlet will be a grind that will not be a pushover.
  12. I have heard GP would have to pay half of the gate revenue from Thompson to break.
  13. It's a 2 yr commitment in the division. This is the second year of the commitment. It's my understanding that CPA wouldn't commit to playing LA each year if they moved up to AAA last year and they wanted to keep the rivalry intact. It's only a rivalry if you are playing each other. You are also correct that the AAA boys are hesitant to play them for fear of getting beaten by a AA. Check with the other team on Granny White Pike. I suspect that will be solved very soon and it won't be an option.
  14. Great observation. Any footage of that match-up (79 on 79)? I know pancakes look yummy with syrup and all, but if you are on the ground you aren't helping your team down field or worse, creating opportunities to trip up your own teammates.
  15. I was about to say the same thing about the McCalie clip. A typical clip below...
  16. I know he's talented. Just looking for some good on good film.
  17. So many of the clips I see him post are against what looks like some pretty weak competition.
  18. I could not agree more on Alex. Very impressive kid and player. I am not sure if you all know of the very special connection his father had to the legendary former LA coach Glenn McCadams. I know there are a lot of haters or minimally suspicious folks around here, but the kids I know have a great story as to why they chose LA and that they also visited other private schools.
  19. Still waiting on anything from playerscoach....still on the clock. i would bet there is plenty of boys running mouths, but racial slurs and comments are unacceptable. Let's hope that left with a few of the graduates this year. I don't think the LA crowd will be satisfied until there is an appreciation for the seriousness the program puts on whole mind, body and soul development. What people see is on Friday nights. They don't see the daily emphasis on developing these young men to be great contributors and collaborators in society. Attitudes like what playerscoach has will keep the LA crowd motivated to bring clarity to the TN football landscape. I can assure you, way more than football is going on in those facilities.
  20. Playerscoach - you are on the clock.
  21. With that context you can go watch the halftime interview and post game interview with Dilfer from their regular season match-up that was broadcast on TV 17.
  22. I presume you are including the local transfers to CPA in there as well. Haven't seen anyone mention it, but Kenny Minchey was also once a Mustang before heading to JP2.
