  1. Are they doing Spring football and developing the players in the off season?
  2. He said in Tn. Those are not in TN. The LA teams certainly could however to his point I do not believe there is a team currently in the state that could.
  3. Was waiting someone to respond with that. Not even sure how CPA got brought up in this. Coincidence that those 2 games were against a coach with no known knowledge of D2?
  4. What does it mean to "recruit"? See that a lot on here. Just wondering on how its defined by most.
  5. That is what I assumed just wanted to clarify. Here is what winning 4 straight championships and being hired away to coach DIV1 college football does mean though... you know the game and can coach. That seems lost by many. Lets take a look at the D2 coaching hires of late Good D2 hires Baylor: Kimrey hired with no D2 experience yet highly successful HS coach in SC and college. Won a state championship year 1 i believe for first time in 40 years. Seems like there are a few kids in the school now BA: 2 hires ago. Cody White was a moderately successful coach in Texas. came to BA and won 4 straight title with no D2 back ground LA: 2 hires ago. Dilfer. Got a few kids in the school and created a national program Boyd Buchanan: Gray Rankin. Never coached in D2. year played for a state championship. Few kids in the school now Other D2 hires BA: Jacob Gill. No D2 experience. He got kids in the school from all over in 5 months. SEC talent everywhere. Yet failed to score more than 20 points in most games and won 2 games. Was it a lack of kids issue or could not coach issue? LA: Mawae. No full time d2 experience or HC coaching experience. One of the deepest rosters in the state so no shortage of talent. Yet could barely get to 500 record in wins. Was it a lack of talent or was it coaching? Ensworth: Roc Batten D2 blueblood. No one would argue he was void of talent at Ensworth yet rarely performed at a high level. Teams underperformed every year. On offense were terribly coached every year he was there. Yet loaded with SEC talent BGA 2 hires ago: Jonas Rodriguez. D2 blue blood lifer. Could not get kids in the school and teams were poorly coached. So in summary the whole you have to know D2 is a bunch of non sense. You have to be a great coach. You know who kids want to play for? Great coaches! The focus in D2 for many seems to be acquiring talented football players. Simply hire a great coach and you will gel the kids. I would argue there is no more talented Div in the country than D2 football yet i would argue it may be to most poorly coached bc of the thought that you must be a D2 guy. BGA made the best hire and its not close. Will the other 2 end up doing well who knows but as of today BGA got the best guy.
  6. Does not know the d2 landscape for Dickson 2? What exactly does this mean? Have heard it said before but don’t really follow.
  7. Does BGa want a former player or a coach ? Anyone looked up this guys record as a HC? Unless I am looking wrong he was 0-30 as a HC. 0-30 is pretty rough. But i goes he was a good player?? Is a private school that cost 30k a year really going to hire a coach that went 0-30?
  8. Very true. MBA or BA can hardly be called wolves at this point.
  9. Yes ill do better. Ill try to find the positive. On the positive its basketball season.
  10. in TN more like Tim Tebow. No coaching experience at all... perfect. That is exactly what we are looking for. Just get talented kids to show up and play sloppy football with no real development.
  11. While BGA certainly has a more progressive view of many social issues its far from some East coast "woke" academic institution. While the school was competitive from 2010-2018 its also fair to say the competition outside of CPA is not exactly high level football. Its a low bar to be good in this division and that is just the truth. There are 3 teams in this division running football programs and 2 of them just started in the last 24 months. Take a look at BGA athletics as a whole both boys and girls. The only sports doing ok are boys basketball, girls soccer and volleyball. That is it. I don't understand the expectation to pay $30,000 a year and not pursue excellence in all areas. Athletics are not to the detriment of academics like many would say. You can in fact pursue both at a high level and should! Our kids deserve it. We have to quit with all the excuses. It really is as simply as run a great program where kids are seen, known, and developed and the numbers will take care of themselves. Its not about recruiting or other excuses. BGA needs to run a legit football program and hire someone who knows how to do that. If they just want a "coach" there will be no change. They need a program.
  12. In what way did he do this? Never knew he was highly political
  13. Non sense. BA had 3 linemen that will go play D1 ball. Do you want 10 that will play D1? At some point you must actually coach and develop an average HS kid into a good player. The line struggles were 100 percent coaching struggles not players. Sure better players help but darn at some how about we actually coach and develop.
  14. Who is the proven winner?
  15. Would be a good one? Based on what? Not being a jerk just curious on what this opinion is based. Have you followed the program at Stewarts Creek or known families that played in his program?
  16. Not sure what coach white has to do with anything. He had success at BA and chose to leave. Clearly you are happy with the results of the program. I guess that would make you the spouse of the headmaster then based on your thinking? But hey you are right the Headmaster is doing a great job. The athletic programs are very stable with little turnover and the coaches there feel supported. Don't change thing and keep charging 30k a year.
  17. Whether its 1 week or 2 this is still an embarrassment. This lies solely on the Headmaster and AD. There were several highly qualified candidates that were interested in this job that could not even get a call back. They got the coach they wanted. No committee or board to blame here. They got exactly what they wanted. The football program ins the single largest draw for enrollment of any private school in Nashville. Not investing in your football program makes no sense and should be grounds for removal.
  18. The CPA basketball team made the elite 8 post Maddux while moving up a Division. Not sure Maddux would have faired better in the higher division. Middle Tn has never had more talent. The idea that its a shortage of players is non sense. If you go out and watch different teams play the majority of the issues are in development, scheme, and adjustments. I would argue the level of coaching in Middle Tn maybe at an all time low. There are teams all over Middle Tn with multiple D1 players yet fail to consistently move the ball or stop the opponents. You will also watch teams with SEC commits' yet never know they are on the field. This is an inability to scheme for play makers. I would say there is not 1 school in Middle Tn that runs a multiple offensive scheme. Not a single one. The passing games are simply plays they are not concepts run against certain defenses. There is little to no understanding of the passing game in Nashville area. I have watched teams with multiple SEC skill players fail to touch a ball against average HS teams. That is a coaching issue. I think the discussion needs to be around why is there not quality coaching staffs in the area.
  19. saying they are living in dorms may be grasping but I am not sure what else is. Not sure what I am missing. 1. LA Qbs struggled in scrimmages. 2. OC had a prior relationship with Knight 3. 2 weeks before season Dad gets a job in Nashville of all places and lands at LA somehow. Just a coincidence on the timing and prior relationship with staff. maybe he just googled Nashville jobs and found LA.? Would certainly seem there was communication with LA prior to him submitting for enrollment 4. His cousin also happens to end up in Nashville with him 5. After 3 games both decide to go "home' bc they miss there families. There words So where were there families. Who were the living with? Did the entire frailly unit for each player relocate per TSSAA rules? I don't think those are crazy questions to ask. Its not an LA issue. Its a governing body that's a joke issue.
  20. I have no idea where he was living but this is highly unlikely. That would not make much sense as its an out in the open violation. Kids are not living by them selves in college dorms and keeping it a secret. Typically they are living a player on the roster but were given a rental property address tied to someone at the school. The issue is no one checks these leases to see who or if anyone ever moves in. Again not just an LA issue.
  21. This is not just an LA issue but a TSSAA as a whole. Per TSSAA rules the entire living unit must move with the student athlete. So if living with mom, dad, and siblings all must make the move. In this case it appears as though that did not happen as its hard to miss family that are with you but perhaps he missed extended family. However this is not an LA issue. Its going on all over the state with kids moving and the family not making a permanent relocation. The TSSAA does not investigate or follow up to ensure what was submitted has actually happened. I don't even care that kids are doing it but there should be rules enforced around it. Lets not kid ourselves and think the Dad here just found a new job in Nashville 2 weeks before first game after the LA qbs were struggling and oh the transfer happened to have a relationship to the LA OC before coming. I
  22. Yes indeed it does. However so do the arts, athletics, and spiritual parts of the school. All should be striving to be the best they can. Its not an either or. Never understood this attitude. Are you ok with your science dept. not meeting expectations as well? Excellence should be the goal through out the school.
  23. You get what you pay for. The reason the coaching search took as long as it did and ended with a young coach from Arkansas with no experience along with an OC that had never been an OC was the school did not want to pay for an experienced proven coach. Strange when the tuition is 30k a year. These are questions for the headmaster and admin. Like it or not in the private schools sports are the biggest draw for enrollment. If you wont pay the HC a competitive wage then why are the parents expected to pay a premium tuition?
  24. Not really. If someone moved hall way across the country its tough to say they just moved for football. So most of those would still be eligible. Unless that is the kid went online and announced he was moving to TN to play at so and so school. However they would need to show job and residence and TSSAA would need to validate this. States like GA and Texas do it this way and people have not quit moving there. Its more meant to cut down on the in state moves that are clearly for football. Again the schools and TSSAA just need to decide what they want. If you are going t offer a subpar public school program where the schools have little resources then its prob best to let the kids transfer at will.
