I think from what I have heard from some decent officials about why they don't get high profile regular season games, much less state tournament games is because their mechanics isn't the old "bird dog" type that Mr. Menees looks for in an official. Now, I understand that some of that stuff is important, but just because someone can call a foul and stand like a statue in doing so with my hands in the right position doesn't mean that it was the right call. I think that it is time that the officials that don't make the games about them and do/try to do a decent job of getting the calls right and communicating with those involved should start getting those important regular season games and state tournament games. Just my 2 cents...

Yes spot on brother. Having been a ref its the reason I went across state lines to call. They want you to look robotic and not use college mechanics. They are stuck behind times. They are more worried about facial hair etc than can you call a game.  There is one association in particular that is straight up nepotism and have lost countless numbers of officials because of which. This association has a handful of really good officials but they never make it because they dont call the game the old school way. " Thats how its always been" is there favorite line but those are words of a dying organization you have to be willing to adapt. 86 fouls in two games for one of the officials that called in at the state tournament is awful.

TSSAA you have a major issue when it comes to officiating. They have no class room training or court sessions bringing in college officials to teach. Anyone shouldn't be allowed to just sign up and get games and stop placing 1st year refs on varsity games but more importantly district games. Coaches should be allowed to talk and ask questions and not be told they have to take a timeout to talk to you. If you want better refs up the pay, stop playing the good ole boy game, and stop getting worked up about using college signals....

Chatt prep returns everyone, Pickett and Humboldt return almost everyone, and ER returns Elijah, Isaiah, and Zach Groves.

Who do y’all have bringing home the hardware this year?

Chatt Prep cakewalks next year and will have the Mr.Basketball winner for next year as well. How are they not private?

Mitchell"s 2015 team was dominant. In 3 the state tournament games the scores were:

    69-30

    72-37

    69-39

1 player played in the NBA (Martin)

4 are now playing professionally overseas (Martin, Echols, Ollison, and Fofona)

9 played at the next level (Martin, Echols, Fofona, Shipp, Jones, Lee, Ollison, Phillips, Coppage

    The best team ever.

Jeremiah Martin was a walking bucket. There will never be another 1A team of that caliber.

They lost 6 times, that ends the conversation for me.

Im sorry but you do realize that their 6 losses came from the Alabama state runner up, Arkansas state champions, Mississippi state champs in 5 and 3A, Ballard was a state tournament team in KY and lost to Memphis Hamilton who won 3a that year. They destroyed everyone in 1a and would anyone from the past.

Home cooking got the win for you tonight. Come Monday season ends

Its not home cooking. The Refs are from the South Central Association,so yes local association officials but I assure you they didn't cheat for Tullahoma. The refs in this area are just the absolute worse in the USA . There are literally 6 refs in the entire association that are good. They all have little man syndrome and have no knowledge of the game of basketball. Most of the clowns down here think the fans paid 5 bucks to watch them and its sicking. Coaches get techs for asking questions down here. Saturday night the Lawrence co coach got a tech for yelling at his player lol it was clear he was talking to his player to. There has been games where 20 plus fouls was called in the first half of games. I would highly suggest calling into the state and sending in video evidence. I totally understand the frustration and the sense of feeling cheated but every team down here feels that way every game.  Its a crime that they change the outcome of games and especially win or go home games. TSSAA should be embarrassed for allowing such buffoonery. Its heart warming  when all of us from down here get to see officials from other associations.

looks like page finished fourth and Lawrence finished third.  Lincoln county won it over tullahoma so I agree I do not think any 8aaa will win but maybe Lincoln County or Page could pull an upset if seeding is right.  They have the best two coaches in that district hands down

I disagree respectfully. Reason being is Page isn't last years page but still has talent but the new coach hasn't seemed to fit with them. They have underperformed all year. Lincoln Co and Tullahoma by far have the best two coaches in the district. Tullahoma is long and athletic and gameplan really well and they have a stud freshman who can go. They made huge strides this year compared to where they was a year ago. LC is uber talented and can light it up from downtown and they defend really well. They are def the best team in the district and are a year older and playing in that gym is where opponents dreams seem to go to die. Great environment to play in if you've never been I would recommend making the drive to Fayetteville on friday night.

  7. They are legit but they have some glaring weakness that you can take advantage of. Those two bigs are a nightmare for opposing teams you cant match up with them physically. If there's a team with really good guard play and can play fast they are beatable. I feel you need to drag those bigs out on the perimeter and attack them because they struggle to move on D.

I don't think it is fair to keep thrashing the FC  coaches. Keep saying you have the best athletes all over the field but against McKenzie you really did not. Mck. had you matched athlete for athlete all over the field. The difference is 2 things FC just could not match what Cassidy brings to the table @ QB it is like having a coach on the field and having a kicking game.

It may not be fair but I think its the truth when it comes to their coaching if you watch them you can tell they just depend on talent and aren't coached up in several areas of the game. I think the only reason it seemed Mckenzie matched them Ath for Ath is just because MCkenzie had enough sense to play their guys both ways.  No knock to Mckenzie they def had talent but I dont think they had it across the board like City. City left Jackson, Wilson, Mr.Football Finalist Thominson on the sideline on Offense besides when going for 2. Your best players cant sit out def guys of that caliber. I agree though Special Teams is a huge problem for City.

I think I agree there. White is going to tear 1A a new one next year. If they can get some stops then they could be looking at a 15 game season. Still insanely early though ha!

Yeah that offense will be lethal they will have running clocks a lot next season. White has to be early favorite for Mr.Football

east will be represented by Fayeteville, Smith Co, or East Robertson. West will be represented by whoever gets out of the Regio 6 gauntlet.

Unless 2a is drastically awful I dont see City making a big run next year. They lose all their size and best players on defense and few studs on offense. City will still have athletes but they will struggle in the size department. City will slowly start falling off. Potential that the Head Coach could be headed back to Alabama for a head coaching spot in Decatur wouldn't be shocked if he takes if given to him.

  11. MASE should def be the favorite they bring a ton back and the transfer portal will be used as well. Mckenzie still be there with the kid taking over at QB he can sling through a carwash and not get it wet. Moore co with White returning as well as other im not sure you can stop that offense next year. One of those 3 teams takes home the gold.

Let’s get this back on track for girls basketball.

What does everyone see in AAA midstate districts?  District 7?  District 8?  Both seem to have state championship hopefuls and championship coaches at Upperman, Page, Lincoln County, and White County. Where do you see teams finishing in these two districts?

District 8 comes down to Lincoln Co and Page. LC brings everybody but but the post player. Loaded with shooters and college players they will be hard to beat. Upperman I imagine is still the team to beat in 7 until proven wrong. Cummerland will be a hard out.

Pause here real quick. Mike Miller two sons attended Houston, and Madlock son attended Houston as well. I think there’s another Madlock at Houston, but I don’t know if that’s true or not. Majority of the Memphis athletic coaches’ kids attend the suburbs schools, including a few of the celebrities and their siblings.

Not speaking on Millers boys obviously they would be there if their pops is the coach but Lawson and Colbert just decided out the blue to go there not believing that one second

Only reason they took those championships is because the NCAA cracked down on him but the TSSAA gave a harsher punishment than what the NCAA gave lol

Facts the only reason. Then they all somehow ended up at Houston playing for Mike Miller.. imagine trying to guard 6’5,6’6, 6,9 in high school lmao. Let one of these small town schools try to pull that off lol

Absolutely not tssaa wouldnt have allowed it there would be an uproar locally it would be stopped. There are tons of schools in Memphis it wasn’t a coincidence they all got hardships to go to the same school. Tssaa and the adults are to blame

Preach it brother man. TSSAA turns their head whenever it comes to Memphis schools. They let Penny assemble the avengers in basketball a few years back
