The Dresden kids played their hearts out from start to finish. The coaches worked as hard as ever too. FC was just too much. Very, very proud of the Lions. FC looked like a college team compared to the Lions, but there was never any backing down. They gave all they had and that's all any one could ask for.

Good luck and safe travels to FC coming to McKenzie.

numbers 1 and 10 for Dresden seemed like the heart and soul of the whole team. The entire team played well, but there were moments when some of them got down. 1 and 10 never stopped. I was impressed. At the end of the game, there was still a lot of white showing on most of the Dresden jerseys, but not those two. Their jerseys were so muddy they almost looked like they were wearing Fayetteville's jerseys.

They said last week was the toughest test !

I guess will we continue every week with it being  there toughest test!

I mean, in an ideal situation.....yes. That's how this playoff system works. In theory, each team should be a tougher opponent than the week before. Last week was the toughest test in MASE's schedule until this week. If they get past Peabody, then next week's opponent will be even tougher....meaning next week you will see posts that say "This will be MASE's toughest test!"

The school band starts playing  when the play comes in from the sideline & stops with the refs whistle every single down of an opposing teams offensive play. Not the parents or fans supporting the team, not spirted student body, the full on band playing. Pure non-sportsmanlike bush league. There's an adult behind that somewhere. Unbelievable.

ever been to a college ball game in person?

Haven’t seen either play. But have kept up with both. McKenzie in this one. Fayetteville isn’t as good as they look on paper. RedBank was overrated, and they run up the scores in all their games. It classless and they won’t be able to fool McKenzie. Also home field will play an advantage.

Red Bank is still in the playoffs, and so is Lewis Co. Upperman made it to round two, put out by the only team other than Fayetteville to give Red Bank a regular season loss. As far as "running up the scores".....I'm not seeing your point. How is Fayetteville any more classless than McKenzie for their scores? In fact, McKenzie's average game is 48.2 to 7.8 while Fayetteville's is 48.7 to 11.8...and against a tougher schedule.

MoCo scored first on Fayetteville.  Led 7-0. Then again at 14-8 & had just returned a punt inside the 10 yard line. Fayetteville records a sack & then # 9 returns the INT for about an 80 yard TD.  Made it 16-14.

Fayetteville goes up 24 -14 later and MoCo gets within 1 td but never regains the lead.

    Good game though.

I don't think the MoCo outcome in this game vs the Fayetteville game will give much indication of how yalls game at McKenzie will turn out.

    Matchups are different.

and the rivalry. i've said it so many times before....the emotions going into the City vs MC games are always intense, and no matter what, MC puts more points on City than any other game in the season.

There were some kids on that Fayetteville team that missed the game vs Gordonsville that year as I remember.  Some were ejected from the Cornersville game? Also Fayetteville had some that became eligible around playoff time?

You are correct. I totally forgot that. Yes that probably contributed to the loss. You have a very sharp memory. Mine not so much.

about 6 or 7 of the starters were out against Gordonsville. and yes, a couple seniors transferred to City, sat out the whole regular season, and started the first round of the playoffs.

You obviously drank too much sweet tea at shoney’s or something. City got kids all across the map that have played college ball.

but I digress, city wins. Closer than it probably should be, but expect Dresden to put up a fight that should keep them in the game until Atleast half time

thank you for making the effort

Sheesh all we have to fight about is the smell of our field or how the Rotary club takes all the money from the football games. Sorry to hear the City area is so divided.

there's a lot of division and disrespect *in the community* against the City high school. just in the last couple of weeks, people on social media have been trashing the football team because they "don't play any good teams."

So are the best athletes going to Fayetteville because Lincoln County is terrible correct?

Lincoln County has been terrible in recent memory. Lincoln County has been terrible and/or declining since 2005, before the city system opened the high school, and even before 2005 only had 3 or 4 good years. It hasn't been consistently relevant since the 90s. Beyond that, this current group of juniors and seniors at City has been playing together in the city school system since grade school

Your right 99 out of 100 yall get the win but you never know if that 1 time is the first time. I hope you have to eat a big piece of humble pie come Friday night. Serious question not trying to throw shade but how has Fayetteville school grown in numbers so much. Your sideline looks like a 5a school. I've been around High school football for several years and don't ever remember hearing about Fayetteville till 3 years ago. Now your going up to 2a. Good coaching hire? New factory? School consolidation? Just curious.

You're right, upsets happen all the time. I'm just saying, Dresden's best chance at an upset is to score at least 30 because I don't think they'll hold Fayetteville to less than that.

Fayetteville City High School has been around for about 10 years this time; it was previously open and shut down a couple decades ago, consolidating all of Lincoln County high school students into one high school. Kids in the city school system didn't have a choice. The city school system decided to open the doors on their high school again as the county high school started to get over crowded.

As far as the size of the roster - Fayetteville High School was borderline 1A/2A by like 10 at last reclassification and went over by 5 to 10 this time I think.

Definitely hearing some bias from you middle TN Hosers. “Moore County is much improved, Fayetteville’s new scheme has them head and shoulders above everyone else”.  Do you not think McKenzie had the opportunity to improve as well??  Moore Co scored 12 against the Rebels last year. Fayetteville scored 8.  Pump the brakes on your expectations because the west still goes through McKenzie.

Pretty sure there were a lot of McKenzie posters saying the same about us earlier this season, refusing to think other teams could also improve from last year. Don't get me wrong, I think McKenzie is going to handle business with Moore Co, and when Fayetteville comes on Nov 18 they're going to be facing off against a fully dialed in 12-0 McKenzie still feeling the bruises from their State loss last year, but I think a 12-0 Fayetteville hungry for revenge is good enough to give them more than just a run for their money.

And before you start talking about Fayetteville only scoring 8 last year, they held McKenzie to 14 (the least they scored all season), effectively shut down their stud RB, and gave them their closest game tied with Peabody.

Dresden has been hit with the injury bug. Still believe we can pull out the W. Got to make it a gritty game and throw them off there's by being physical and scrappy.

21 to 14 Dresden wins by upset

you realize no one has held city to less than 29 all season? and that was a 4A team still playing in the playoffs.

So people really think we don’t know the west is a whole lot stronger than the east? The west has several teams capable of winning the gold ball.

Only one team in the west will make it to Chattanooga to represent. Clay,SP, or Gordonsville will represent the east. Someone will be a 3 TD underdog. I believe that’s been established and we understand. It looks like they have tried to represent the state as a whole in this Mr. Football list.  Also, who all votes on the nominees?

Not on topic, but...I'd still be concerned about the East's 3 TD "underdog" that makes it to Chatt. Pretty sure S Pitt was in that chair last year.

On topic, good post. The best football player might not win the award. And unfortunately, we get upset, and we can rant on this board but we shouldn't be attacking the kids or each other. We didn't vote.

Fay city plays in powder puff area.  They will be lucky to get through 2nd round.

Region 5 has a .500 total outside region record. Fayetteville is 4-0 outside region 5, with all their out of region games being from higher classifications that have a combined record of 21-11, and 2 of them are in the 4A playoffs and 1 in 2A playoffs. Moore Co. is 4-0 outside region 5. Eagleville is 2-2 outside the region, with losses to Gordonsville and Forrest. Wayne Co is 3-1 outside region 5, with their loss coming from Middle Tennessee Christian.

I've done my homework. Show me the numbers that prove this is worse than other regions to make this region a "powder puff area". I'll wait.
