? Have you done any research on the teams in region 1. Do some compared to region 2. I’m a Cloudland fan but one of the better teams in region 2 needs to be in region 1 now.
i think i misunderstood your point, or i read too quickly and made an assumption.
if the issue is that there are too many (7 to 8) in region X and too few (5 or less) in region Y, then yes i agree with you. the 5th and 6th place in theoretical region X could be better than all of region Y and never make it to playoffs. which goes along with my point...too many teams are making it that don't belong in it.
i think the fix is to split the regions more evenly, but then you run into longer travel times. what would your solution be?

Can’t have 8 teams in region 2. That wouldn’t be fair. A lot years a good team would miss the playoffs
1A region 5 has 7 teams. i think too many teams are making it to the playoffs that shouldn't be there anyway.

Thank you for your work on this bracket. A lot of these are known already and some are still fighting, but for me for sure, I know nothing about teams of the East. Helps me put it into perspective.
Would it be a big shocker to see Region 7 win all 4 games? Has this happened before?
i think it's happened the last two years, hasn't it?

The “Chattanooga Times Free Press” newspaper is a daily. Every other Chattanooga area team’s game has an article. Just think it’s funny.
you're right...they listed the score in the area games section but didn't devote a whole article to it like they did the rest of the big games

Coverage of Friday night’s game is conspicuously absent from the Chattanooga newspaper.
Fayetteville's paper doesn't even release until Wed or Thur, so it might just be too early still.

it was until this year

Pretty wild that the Red Bank coaches just gave up and told them to run the clock in the second half despite only being down 30-0.
pretty sure it's a TSSAA "mercy rule". if a team is up by 30, they let the clock run in the second half. it wasn't the coaches "giving up". not in that respect, anyway

If overall talent is the question. I’d either say 2019. Greenback with the 2 power five kids plus the QB that did sign with Louisville. Huntingdon had their QB sign for UT (for baseball but still is a heck of an athlete). The lake county team that won it all was stacked. Fayetteville was 10-0 but had to forfeit win but had a ton of talent on the team. South Pitt had Gio Davis I believe and he had multiple power 5 offers.
2018 can be in debate with it also from just a talent wise in 1A
(This might be recency bias haha)
a lot of Fayetteville's talent from 2019 were class of '23 and still there this year.

Back to region play next friday. I think Fayetteville clinches the region with a win
a little bird told me Huntland thinks they'll hold City under 32 points.

Will this game be streamed live tonight ?

City played very poorly last year and I think the travel impacted that game. The City Tigers had become accustomed to being the more talented team and Red Bank jumped on them. I think City will be ready tonight and should have the advantage at home against a very talented Red Bank team.
I've also noticed that City plays way harder in the trenches this year. I like it!
Safe travel from Red Bank to Fayetteville. This should be a great game!
the road trip combined with the road trip's dinner that night, i think. but yeah, city looks better this year than last year. tonight will be a good test for them.

They aint played but 5 games. 3 against ranked teams.
that's 2 more ranked teams than Bama. i'm not a fan of either, just pointing it out. this is the best shot Tennessee has had against Bama in years.

i'd argue the vols' 7 wins are stronger than bama's....
-
Not a RB fan. I know they're schedule has been weak and they don't have much for quality wins. But they are undefeated, going against an undefeated 1A team looking for revenge for last year.
Edit: I'm a City fan. I was hoping to get some attention from the red bank fan base to vote. Being up for the vote at all is a big thing as it is, but it'd be cool to win
-
More important than posting your predictions....Red Bank fans, we need your help on this vote!

Moore Co, running clock
-
close game, but Wayne Co comes out on top by 1 score
-
hard fought game, but i think Fayetteville comes out on top. City by 10

The playoffs were expanded again in 1977. I thing the best system was from about 1984 to 1992. Then it slowly started getting ridiculous.
i'm sorry...what was the system '84-'92?

Based on the way it was done in 1969, 1970, 1971, anyone with a loss would be left out.
would a perfect season against 1A and 2A opponents be more meaningful than a 1 loss team that lost to a 4A team? i guess a better way to phrase it would be: is SOS more or less important than 1 loss?
-
i mean, in a year or two, it'd be top 12 in CFP. that would be a fun HS playoff scenario.

i think the biggest thing is that there isn't going to be something that is absolutely fair for everyone. the best answer is what is *most fair* and works for the majority. some of the schools outside the bell curve for each classification - whatever system they decide to use - are either going to have an advantage or disadvantage. it's just how it's going to work.

true. at this point it's useless. the season will play out into the playoffs and we'll have our results.
