  1. this will be a big test to see what kind of TEAM they are though.
  2. now may be the time to push the panic button on LA's season...
  3. 1000%. sad part is, I think some of those guys know what they are talking about. I just am not willing to take the time to figure it out.
  4. you can keep the thread for people who don't make things hard to read on purpose. i'll go with west, too.
  5. love the decisive predictions!!
  6. glad there is a thread where we actually know what game you are talking about but there is another thread on this one already. you just need a decoder ring.
  7. LA (1-2) at baylor (2-1) - this is a big match-up for both of these teams. I think I give the edge to baylor since it is at baylor but LA is hungry. MBA (0-3) at CPA (2-1) - I don't think MBA is getting their first win yet. BGA (2-1) at Davidson Academy (3-0) - DA is rolling so far. BGA is much improved though. FRA (3-0) at Goodpasture (2-1) - I think FRA is too much for them. knox catholic (3-0) at ensworth (3-0) - I think knox catholic takes the loss here. BA (1-2) at father ryan (2-0) - BA evens their record USJ (3-0) at jackson christian (3-0) - who gets the loss? this one looks like a great one. mccallie (3-0) at MUS (3-0) - another intriguing one. is MUS for real? thoughts?
  8. congrats to coach arnold and antioch on that win! he's a great dude the kids at LA were sad when he left but it looks like he is got antioch moving in the right direction!
  9. my understanding is that saraland is coming here next year. I hope we treat them like honored guests...and beat their doors off so that no amount of calls makes any difference.
  10. ok, thanks. I was pretty down after the loss but tried to keep it in perspective. BA is looking like they are having the same growing pains or worse. MBA looks to be rebuilding. I think the chatt teams are going to be a big challenge. on the other side of the bracket, I think ensworth is looking good so far. so probably baylor is our next big challenge.
  11. yes, that's the QB. I think for the time they had to prep, he did pretty well. love his grit for sure! you may be right about the o line but we played 2 really good d lines which we will not see again on that level. if you mean me, i'm not on the ledge at all. I think our D is pretty special but our offense needs some work which should come with time. we do lack explosive speed and that won't change. just trying to be realistic. i'm sad we lost to saraland but think we played pretty well on the road. just a heart breaking way to lose. on to some region play!
  12. I hate to hear that. can you say who?
  13. haha! no way did he get that from me! if and when we play again, you guys owe us a home game. : ).
  14. interesting. I guess i don't think it's that big of a problem and LA has had more teams cancel on them than almost anyone. we just find someone else.
  15. probably so. I bet it happens so rarely it's not much of an issue though. I hope so at least!
  16. good question but I didn't think it was terrible. I think the officiating at our game versus oakland was far worse than at saraland. i'm not sure it is really intentional, but I think crews just have good nights and bad nights like all of us. before anyone says I am biased on the oakland game, my dad is a TSSAA official, was in attendance at that game and he said that was not great officiating, especially the time clock management. in any case, I hope my team plays in such a way that a missed call doesn't change the outcome.
  17. agreed on all points. I didn't know they had their own school system but it looked like a giant private school, that is for sure.
  18. christian bros (2-0) vs BA (0-2) - who would have thought this would be where BA was looking for their first win? I bet they find it here. MUS (2-0) at MBA (0-2) - same as above? MUS beat barlett which is a quality win. st X, louisville at mccallie (2-0) - not sure if st x is still good but they used to be. grace christian (1-0) at MTCS (2-0) BGA (1-1) at NCS (0-2) - this one looks fun. I think BGA has improved this season. NCS is probably hungry for a win. CPA at JP2 - CPA is all over this one. LA (0-2) at briarcrest (1-1) - I think LA finds enough offense to win this one easily but who knows? USJ (2-0) at trinity (1-0) thoughts? not quite as exciting as the previous weeks but maybe some folks get in the win column finally!
  19. while he has some work to do on ball security, I think his decision making is phenomenal as are his skills. but yes, he is getting coaching I am sure. part of the problem is he has not had long to gel with his team. he throws harder than anything they have seen and the ball is spinning backwards (he's a lefty). that just takes time to adjust to plus he can make plays and throws and the players have to keep playing and not stop because it looks like a sack because he will get the ball out sometimes and hit a player who wasn't expecting it. (wow what a long sentence) ok, back to BA's issues. : )
  20. I understand your points but I think the outcome of such over sized punitive contracts would be no one takes a risk on their schedule. i'm an entrepreneur, too but schools are businesses and trying to run them like one won't always work well. if you were an AD, no one would ever talk to you about scheduling a game.
  21. LA is in the same boat but since we only had dilfer for 4 years, it is easy to remember his first year wasn't a piece of cake. I think both teams will make lots of progress in the coming weeks. don't press panic yet.
  22. just because they gross $22,500 doesn't mean they net anywhere close to that. cost of goods sold, employee cost, etc. eat into a lot of that.
  23. I did want to say how proud I am of our kids for over coming a 10 point deficit on the road in insane heat to tie it up with 10 seconds left. LA made too many mistakes to put it all on the kicker and we would not have been there had it not been for his solo onside kick and recovery! lots of kids stepped up in the end played hard the whole game against a great saraland team. we got lots to work on and hopefully we keep getting better all season. lots to learn and grow from which is a good thing. great venue and a great game overall. #1 in TN vs #1 in AL goes to OT and is decided by 1 point sounds about right. (not sure we deserve the #1 ranking any more but that is beside the point). the sportsmanship was great and im not sure if it was on the broadcast but the saraland HC and players consoling our kicker was pretty cool.
