We will never really know what the logic is behind their madness. They are just still trying to count their 50% take on all the playoff games from last week. Making room for the 60 playoff games cut that they will get tonight. I hope the AD's are letting lots of people in for free. I know it hurts the schools measly 25%, but maybe it could put a hit on the profit that the TSSAA makes. I have always heard rumors about the lavish "company retreats" that the TSSAA takes each summer, but that could just be rumors. Heard of a retreat in.... HAWAII a few years ago.

Curious to hear who is happy and who is not? Who all is appealing to move to another region?

Still wonder how the magical computer program that the T$$AA uses to find the best fit for regions, comes up with what it does? Sounds suspect to me. Living in the Region 2/3 area, sending Loudon and Sequoyah both to Chattanooga doesn't add up to me. Not sure that they could explain it to me, and get me to understand. Sequoyah's now closest trip (Besides to Loudon), will be farther than what their farthest Region 2 trip would have been. Loudon is in an even bigger predicament than Sequoyah on travel. Vice versa, all of the Chattanooga schools have to drive all the way to Madisonville and Loudon for region games. That also puts a hurting on the Monday night JV games. Who would be the 'big wig' in Chattanooga that wanted those teams pulled that way? More Region teams, less non-region games. I bet the Region 2 teams are not happy!

That makes it interesting. A team may want to avoid scheduling a tough Non-Region game for Week 2, not knowing who the TSSAA would schedule for them in Week 3. That makes things interesting.

Another interesting thing is the fact that the TSSAA is setting the Region schedules for EVERYBODY!!! Apparently, everyone was allowed to submit a bye week request. They also submitted Rivalry games that may take place on a specific date. First game of the year, last game of the year, Third Saturday in October, and situations like that. So that makes it really difficult for teams to try and schedule non-region games before November 21.

I agree with that. Region 1 is already somewhat spread out.

One thing that always pops out to me, is the schools that are competitive in a larger class, and then their enrollment drops to lower their classification. Many times, those teams are hard to beat in their new class. White County and Station Camp come to mind when thinking about that situation. P.S. Can we please stop talking about Alcoa playing up, they have no reason to do so. Why move when you are winning? Players and coaches work too hard to not have the absolute best shot at winning.

You could, but Loudon is 20-25 minutes closer to Knoxville than Sequoyah. Sequoyah is closer to Knoxville than it is Chattanooga. Sequoyah to Region 2 would make their farthest Region game about an hour and fifteen minutes away to Gibbs. Sequoyah's shortest trip in Region 3 would be to East Ridge, which is an hour and eighteen minutes. Doesn't even make sense to send Sequoyah south, but that's probably what will happen.

The distances do not add up though. If the TSSAA is truly concerned with travel? Region 1- 7 teams- With Northview going to Region 1. Region 2- 7 teams- With the addition of Loudon to the Knoxville region, that could give Region 1 & 2 an even split. Sequoyah to Region 2 would make their farthest Region game about an hour and fifteen minutes away to Gibbs. Region 3- 6 teams- Chattanooga schools + Sequoyah (Sequoyah's shortest trip in Region 3 would be to East Ridge, which is an hour and eighteen minutes) Region 4- 7 teams Region 5- 8 teams. I assume that you are talking about Livingston Academy?

It takes a ton of work, plus a ton of luck, to win consistently in high school football. It is extremely difficult to turn a high school program into a winner, especially if they haven't been a proven winner before. Football coaches have to convert not only the teenagers playing for them, but everybody else that is involved in the decision making process that affects a football program. Private schools can go out and get the best players from the public schools that are around them. Public schools get what the privates do not want. Private schools can get the Jimmy's and the Joe's if they chose to do so. Public schools may have a Jimmy or a Joe, but they also have Randy, Gary, Jerry, and Donnie.

So, I was just told that Heritage is appealing to be in 4a. Enrollment number sits at 1,194. Their claim is that the new Eagleton College and Career Academy will lower their enrollment for next year by 100 students or so. They would definitely be in Region 2. Does Millington Central get put into Region 7 instead of Region 8? Which direction will Sequoyah go? I'm not sure which direction that they won't to go, but they are closer to Knoxville. Just can't wait to see how this all unfolds.

That sounds terrible for everybody involved with football, except for fans. Plus, the TSSAA wouldn't be able to fund their salaries and "Company Retreats" with that.

So you are just hearing that in the Sevier County community? I understand. The toughest part of it all is that nobody knows what the folks at 3333 Lebanon Pike, Hermitage, TN 37076 are truly going to come up with.

Jackson North Side and Jackson South Side are in the SAME city and the SAME school system, both in 4a. And they are in separate regions. Not sure that the TSSAA is very concerned with that. But maybe they favor the different type of demographics in East Tennessee compared to West Tennessee. Northview to Seymour- 21 minutes, 13.3 miles. Very curvy 2 lane road for most of the drive. The part near Northview can be very congested with tourism traffic. North Side to South Side- 19 minutes, 9.2 miles. One road with a roundabout (traffic circle) near the center of the route. City traffic. Hmmm... You may be correct, but your logic isn't adding up.

Northview is easier to get to for the Region 1 folks, Seymour is easily accessible from Knoxville or Region 2. Jackson North Side and Jackson South Side are in two separate regions, so the same county idea goes out the window. Sequoyah is a wild card for Region 1 and 2. Sequoyah High School is about 25-30 minutes closer to Knoxville than Chattanooga. Dyer County should fall into Region 7. They are currently in Region 8-5a. Millington Central and Lakeland Prep will add to Region 8. Does Wooddale play up again? Region 5 looks to be a 7 team region, which would be Nashville schools + Marshall County. White County adds to Region 4, the Cookeville area region. Region 3 loses East Hamilton and Chattanooga Central, but gains Signal Mountain. I'm predicting 26 teams in Regions 1-4, and 23 teams in Regions 5-8. Of course, that is with no one moving up. 3 Regions with 7 teams (1,2,5), 3 Regions with 6 teams (3,4,8), and Regions 6 & 7 with 5 teams each. This is strictly based of geography.

4 schools chose to play up the last time reclassification happened. Jackson County played up in 2a Milan, Wooddale, and Pearl Cohn all played up in 4a The BIG QUESTION is... Who will chose to play up in the next cycle? Everyone that doesn't want to deal with Alcoa, starts the rumor that they will be playing up. Will that be true? Only coach Nix knows! Interested in seeing the rumors...

With White House and Station Camp more than likely going to Region 5 in 4a, does that send Marshall County, and Giles County (If they play up) to Region 6? Or does Station Camp and White House go to Region 4 with the Cookeville area schools, which will add White County to the mix. Region 3 loses East Hamilton and Chattanooga Central, but adds Signal Mountain. I feel like Sequoyah is a borderline Region 2/3, but losing a team in Region 3 makes them lean more towards Chattanooga. Is Pearl Cohn going to play up?

How soon will that school open? What schools will lose students to that new school?
