  1. Apparently someone didn't think ahead or forgot. All I know is a hire was made. It would be interesting to see that list.
  2. I really don't know. That's coming from someone close to him. He won 3 at one school and a runner-up at another.
  3. Very true! I assume the hardest challenge is distance. I know this particular coach would not be able to move to that area however he said he'd have no problem driving it everyday. He thinks they are just going to end up hiring a coach that was on staff last season that already works in the system. Let him run spring practice and if all goes well use that as the reason and evidence to hire him.
  4. I actually met the guy I've been talking about over the weekend. He seemed like a real class act. He told me about all the coaches he's coached under and how that made him the coach his is today. He got into coaching so he could pay it forward from his high school coaches. He said they changed his life and he wanted to pay that forward to others. Doesn't mean he would be the right guy but sure sounded good. He seemed pretty down about the whole thing tbh I think he really wants it. He said his interview went great and he felt like he would be a candidate but has only had emails updating him that they are still in the interview process.
  5. I heard this too just not in that much detail.
  6. I know the coach's name now. I have been told not to share though. The one thing I know about him is that he is a player's coach, he believes in discipline, work ethic and he stresses to his players that any team can win on any given day. Sounds good to me. I hope something happens soon. It's a mess here in Greenback so hopefully it'll work out over there.
  7. Well from what I'm told and I wish I could get a name...this guy really just wants a place to call home for the rest of his career not a title.
  8. Seems like the obvious hires never get hired.
  9. All I know is he teaches and coaches at a Knox County School right now but wants to teach and coach at a small 1A school he can retire at. She said he's currently in his 40's. She doesn't know his exact age.
  10. The text I got says he put he stated that if he gets it barring they don't just get rid of him...that win lose or draw his plan is to stay there until retirement.
  11. He was an assistant for championships, the Head Freshman Coach and Varsity assistant at Oak Ridge and he is currently a defensive coordinator she said.
  12. Apparently he really wants it but I'm sure someone had a short list and it almost always starts with the buddy system in small areas.
  13. The person at Greenback said he doesn't want his name on here. So she won't tell me. Said he's coached at Clinton, Grace, Fulton, AC, and Oak Ridge. He's was there for 3 titles at Fulton and a runner-up at Oak Ridge. Both years at AC they went 12-1.
  14. But I do agree that that should be a no brainer. I just confirmed he has 3 championships and he has a runner-up as well. He coached at Oak Ridge too in 2020 when they went to state but lost.
  15. Well if they don't know if a person is or isn't leaving and that might be the only placement they can put a coach then they can't offer a coaching job and expect him to take in on a notion they "hope" it's open for him. They hire the classroom or job first over the coaching position unless they know they are not giving a teaching position.
  16. Apparently he was told that the teaching spot they would want him is isn't vacant as of yet but is supposed to be. He coached at Fulton I'm told and I think Anderson County? I could be wrong about Anderson County. But he has 16 years experience as an assistant and the 3 championships was at Fulton I would have to guess.
  17. I have yet to get his name. I know he is from Knoxville. This information comes from someone within the school.
  18. Well there is also a coach that has 16 years experience and 3 state titles. He applied for Greenback too which is how I know.
  19. I have personally heard of many players that will not be playing this season. That might change and most likely will but I would encourage any player that is a upcoming freshman to seek another school quickly.
  20. If the new guy has any ounce of respect he will NOT take the job. It's the right thing to do.
  21. It's no longer on the TSSAA website
  22. This is not true. You can get a probationary teaching license IF you have a degree in a teachable field ie: you have a BA in English you can get something that allows you to teach while you are getting your certification. This is very rare though. Mostly if you have your degree you MUST take a state Praxis test to get your certification before you step foot in a classroom. The only other option is to get a CTE teaching certification (vocational) where a limited few don't require a degree just 5 years industry experience, some require an industry certification (graphic design etc.) and some actually still require a degree. If NONE of this can happen the school CAN hire a coach and put him/her in a classified role like an ISS teacher (In school suspension) or as a TA. Then of course you have in the state of Tennessee that you DON'T even have to be teacher to be a head football coach or head coach of anything for that matter. You don't even have to work in the building at all!! ...As long as you have coached in that sport as an assistant coach registered with the TSSAA for 5 consecutive years and passed a state test. An example of that is the Bearden Head Football Coach Josh Jones. He doesn't work for Bearden in ANY way shape or form except as their Head Football Coach. Also...I'm still pissed this happened. Greenback is a draw. Good coaches wanted this job! This is a sham. I put it on the same level as the 2020 election.
