  1. They should. But that school is so backwards who knows
  2. Glad you’re back. We missed the comical, washed up press box guy that likes to think he’s “in the know” on everything about TNHSFB.
  3. Sheltons wanting to coach college football? Good luck with that in the world of NLI and the portal.
  4. Brad Taylor would do special things here. Him, Hunter and Andre would have that place cooking like Cracker Barrel on a busy Saturday morning.
  5. Kevin Lane’s name still being tossed around? Didn’t think the fine folks in fountain city wanted a drunk weasel to run their program.
  6. That’s because JJ is a traveling circus. People can’t help but watch a total train wreck. It’s only a matter of time until JJ and his basketball boys go down for some crootin.
  7. Btw, HIV. This is a 4A school and already had a thread in the 3A/4A boards. Great job trying to stay relevant though.
  8. The most important question is who would want this job? Duncan beached the battleship on his way out and made it look like this was a premier job. Typical ego Clark leaving it at a time where the successor was guaranteed to struggle.
  9. Good, Duncan left that place with nothing. Programs probably in a better place now than when the Berry/Duncan crime syndicate ran the place.
  10. I have been stressing on this thread the need to stiffen up the defense and we just let them run through us tonight. I honestly don’t even know what to think. I think about those jerseys hanging in the rafters and the banners that CMB put on the wall and just wonder what they would think of this team’s performance. Make no mistake, it starts with coaching. There is still room for improvement but JP needs to take a good hard look in the mirror and have an ole fashion come to Jesus meeting with himself. The culture that legendary CMB built on effort, attitude and toughness just isn’t there.
  11. I could see JJ at DawgHouse making the jump to college as a recruiting intern or analyst. He could also enroll as an undergraduate volunteer while working on his degree and kill two birds with one stone. Pretty clear he is a good salesman.
  12. I will never forget that game vs BC in the Glass House. They definitely played a great game but got out coached most of the game and eventually fell short of a great team. They rely so much on the 2-3 zone and I think that’s easy to scheme up for any half way decent offensive coach. Hodge will make them a contender until she graduates but they miss the presence of Treadwell in the middle.
  13. I appreciate your post and you bring up some great points. They’ve got some good basketball players over there, no question about that. How JP and JJ got them over there is a great question to consider. They work in tandem to get dynamic playmakers, for sure. Thanks for the input!
  14. Just a fun topic to discuss. What East TN High school football coaches could you see making it in the NCAA or NFL?
  15. I noticed at the ball game vs Alcoa the signage in the gymnasium about the win streak the girls team went on in 22-23. An impressive streak for sure even though we have a handpicked all star team. My question for you fellow close basketball followers out there… has there been a more dominant but overall underachieving team as ours on the state level?
  16. And this is a football discussion. Name another current HFC in KCS that is non-faculty (besides JJ). As long as I’ve been in the area, that has not been the case.
  17. 5starpreps reported it first… didn’t see this one coming.
  18. I wouldn’t say anything is really “wrong” with them. I’d like to see them be a little more consistent when the talent is equal to theirs. We just don’t see a lot of teams that are similar. I think what set CMB apart was his willingness to schedule tough opponents like Oak Hill while Jeremy is more focused on the local spectrum of teams. I think Xs and Os are irrelevant when you have the Jimmys and Joes like us. I think just about everyone would agree that CMB and JP are neither known for being schematic gurus. The focus when you’re in a talent rich environment at BHS has to be on the effort, attitude and toughness of your team. That’s what all great basketball teams are built on. That’s the main thing I’d like to see drilled into our guys. Just as the late, heralded Coach Bobby Knight was once quoted as saying, “Mental toughness is to physical as four is to one.” It has to be the cornerstone of your basketball program.
  19. Just on here trying to talk basketball with some fellow basketball watchers across the state. Unfortunately, I find that it is an under-covered sport by local sports media but this gives us a forum to talk about what we see. I’ve followed BHS Bball for the past two decades and trust me, if legendary Coach Mark Blevins could handle my criticism right to his handle bar stache, I think the young staff at BHS right now will be fine.
  20. No that was not my intention. Jahvin was the best player on the court hands down. You can tell why he’s committed to PSU. My criticism has more to the defensive philosophy last night trying to contain him. Looked like we couldn’t get it figured out in man or in zone and he ate us up. Just hope we can be more creative down the stretch to play more stingy defense.
  21. Yes in a relative sense, they are probably more in tune with it than others on this forum. Again, just a space for open conversation and perspective. Not intending to argue!
  22. Yeah, I would somewhat agree with that. You have to be careful to use the word “expert” not sure I would agree with calling them that. Maybe “analyst” would be a better term. I haven’t forgotten about the tough loss to DB in State. Seems to be JPs Achilles heel even since his Hawkins High School days. It was one of my worries from the day we signed him. Thanks for your input though, fascinating reads at those links.
  23. Bearden Boys and Girls basketball will jump on this quick. That is their modus operandi and they will hit the portal looking for defensive length. That is where we have struggled the past few years.
  24. Yeah you are certainly entitled to that opinion but this is East TN basketball. The real basketball is played on the west side of the state we know that. We’ll see what tune everyone is singing when we are at the glasshouse in March.
  25. Nice win over a solid Alcoa team last night. I was concerned and still am concerned about the defense. That little PG for Alcoa went off and had to have over 30, I haven’t seen stats yet. There has to be some adjustment made there. If a AA Alcoa PG is doing that, I hate to see what the AAAA teams will do in Sectionals / State time. Nonetheless, nice win but still more work to do.
