  1. List no more than your school's top three all state prospects. Name and position. Please, only your best! Three can be tough, but hold it there. Science Hill - Joslin WR, Forney RB, Shoun QB Elizabethton - Kennedy WR, Smith FS, Hyatt OL
  2. I think this is the third thread on this issue. North and the Cow Towners have a very solid post season shot today. For sure, the loser of this one will have a very tough time making the playoffs. Elizabethton takes it, 26-7, and makes it's move towards the post season.
  3. The Cow Towners will do better. The roughest part of their schedule is behind them, but, and a big BUT, they had better get a leader behind center. The QB mentioned has 6 ints.
  4. Off week over here, so I came to Cow Town. What a mistake. I really thought Elizabethton had some potential. TN. High showed too much aggression on the Cylcones bringing on several penalties, but hey, aggression is what football is about. I shouldn't say this, but #8 is too explosive to be on the sidelines for Betsy on offense. Get him going and find another reciever besides 15 who wants the ball. Too one dimensional. Good luck next week.
  5. No dog in this race, but I have to agree with an earlier poster. Elizabethton took the hard road to get ready. That road pays dividends. Cyclones 13 Vikings 10 Have fun.
  6. A note to the wise in Cow Town: 1. Instructions to score as follows: The little guy is a spark plug. Plain to see. Get it to him and let him spread it around. If #8 didn't play so big on defense, he would be my man behind center every play. EXPLOSIVE 2. Work on clock management (Coaches) 3. Special teams 4. Run defense The Cyclones are not a bad team. Good luck, you're a worthy opponent and thanks for the W. thumb
  7. Never paid too much attention except for baseball. They need a real coach anyway. The players seem to be waiting for a leader. Good luck
  8. Nobody in the great State of Tennessee can come close to matching up with the Johnson City Heat. PERIOD. And any other state, for all that's concerned. Too much power and too much pitching. Remember the name JOHNSON CITY HEAT You won't forget it after we run you off the field. If you can't take the HEAT, then get off the field.
  9. I appreciate the input from all, but we are going with AAA Boone High School. It's just a fit although our interests was in a AA school. It just wasn't meant to be. Period. I've seen HV play and they have some exceptional players. They should have run off with the conference and districts if they had played as a team. They are a good team, but have plenty of 'I's on the team, including their coaching staff. Maybe they have thier "stuff" together now and if they do, they will take thier next two games. Good luck.
  10. PLEASE DON'T SHOP AROUND IN ELIZABETHTON 825673348[/snapback] Voice, I guess I'm stupid for wanting the best for and out of my kid. He is a very descent ballplayer. I, and he wants to look at the AA level. That's just us. Really don't like DB and it is too far away. Fed up with SH and you should understand that. The kid plays nothing but baseball and has a sibling that plays at a higher level such as I did. This youngster seems to have more tools than his brother, so I think he can get where "he" wants to be and where I would love to see him get. NOTHING wrong with that is there? Your problem seems to lie in Elizabethton. As I said earlier, quit protecting those who shouldn't be protected. Elizabethton needs teachers of the game coaching, not spectators. After watching two games and one practice, you have spectators, not teachers. I have also seen Boone and Erwin play and practice. Totally different in both instances. Erwin would be the best choice, but is too far, but without a doubt, has the best teacher (this years team is a great example of turning a so-so team into a champion). Boone is a comfortable distance and a comfortable fit with a top quality young coach who works at coaching. Dedication might be the word. Too bad we aren't into football, then maybe Elizabethton would get a look? In the mean time, good luck cleansing your baseball program and don't blame others for that "black cloud" you guys can't get rid of.
  11. You are exactly right, I am not going to have my dog in that circus. Things like that brew over time and it starts at the top. It will take a bunch of work to bring that program back together, but first of all you have to have a teacher of the game. Don't be blind. If the kids had any respect for the game, that situation would have been settled off of the field of dreams. Would you have seen that situation anywhere else in East Tennessee? I've narrowed my leads down to Boone High School. Thanks anyway.
  12. I have no dog in the race but have been looking around for a 'fit' for my younger son. I came over and watched a bit of the tourny. Yea, I saw the action at second base. AND yes, I definately won't be back. Is there no coaching going on over there?? Respect has to be developed. A descent season turned in to a joke has ruined the season for a bunch of kids. After talking to a parent over there, I know to come to the Cyclones only if you play football. What a waste of athletes. There were some college quality guys out there, but they won't get a fair chance. They are done. What about the quality guys coming back?? They will suffer from a lack of leadership, won't they? They deserve a chance and it should be afforded to them. What a shame. That black cloud will hang over the baseball program for quite a while.
  13. Big question is who is taking over for Ferguson? What's DB gonna look like and will they change their 'O' with some new "key" position players coming in? Don't think there will be much change in the line. What's your thoughts? Next year's Junior class is the strongest football class around. FACT!!
  14. Science Hill will be the stopping place for both TN. High and Elizabethton. The Mountain Lakes is a descent conference, but should stay where they belong, playing 4A schools or less.
  15. I was reading about Chaz Byrne of SH in the Kingsport paper. Wasn't he the kid that the Heats coach said wasn't any good? Man, he turned some heads this week. Good job and good timing getting away from a "Babe Ruther". Pro Concepts must have ended up being a good summer home for Chaz? Swartz..... what a baseball mind. If the Heat had a real Mgr. they would win the World Series
  16. Thanks for the input. The coach might get mad, but my son is getting letters from people with showcase tournys and we are going. They are expensive, but college cost quite a bit more. He has four unsolicited letters from "showcase" people where he will get the most looks, so off we go. I agree also with other assesments that he should play with his school team. He will play with them when not out of town. Don't think the coach will bench him, he is starting on a high profile HS team this year as a soph. I"ll keep my fingers crossed.
  17. That is what I'm trying to find out. My kid is descent and has been playing on a summer team, not a school team. NOW his coach says he has to play with the school team this summer, but they only played, like 3 tournaments last summer. His summer team played around 40-45 games and had kids from different schools, which I think is better. He was 15 last year, but there were some scouts around at some of the tournys, especially in Memphis, and we are from East Tennessee. I'll not get into what team or what school because of causing him problems, but I'm looking for some insights as to how to approach the coach. I"M IN A PICKLE! Coach wants the school team together but I think that may not be the best for him long term. HELP!!!
  18. Where do they show up? At high school games or summer ball? Or summer camps..... Where do you see them the most?
