  1. I think the coaches will take care of Brady and ask him to play within the system which is to get the ball in the hands of the playmakers and NOT make mistakes. We've got tremendous speed on the edge and need to take advantage of it. I think Brady grew up alot last season.....the William Blount debacle comes quickly to mind. I am cautiously optimistic about this season.
  2. No he doesn't know what he's talking about because McDade hasn't been at Ooltewah since he transferred to Lookout Valley prior to baseball season.
  3. Is this a quote that is supportive of the owls, coaching staff and Brady Reed? "benny sticks with certain ones" sounds to me like you have an agenda and its to dump on certain kids and build yours up. I'm an Owl graduate.....have been going to games since I could crawl. I'll be going to Ooltewah games after all of you non Ooltewah people are gone. Also, not only do we NEED those players that carry the water, we need those that keep up the GPA of the team. Go Brady! Go you hairy Owls!
  4. We don't NEED sophomore receivers, Einstein. We've got Seamster,Williams,Delaney,Norwood.Myricks,Zarzour and Mayfield as UPPER CLASSMEN. The sophomores including Shumaker will develop with time. Hopefully, the qb's are tall enough to see down the field and have the arm strength to throw the football ON TIME. I don't want to see any pee wee football with the qb keeping left and keeping right or where the busted play is his best play. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" /> Good luck to all the Owls this year!
  5. If a backup quarterback gets any playing time at the quarterback position it will be the first time in history. Jeremy Woods played very little, if at all behind his brother Zach Woods. With that said, Brady Reed is going to be the quarterback. Coach Monroe loves the junior, right hander who he believes will be the best quarterback he has ever coached. Has anybody heard anything about a freshman or sophomore quarterback transferring to Ooltewah? He is said to be in the 6'2" or 6'3" range.
  6. Most "sane" Ooltewah "fans" knew last season would be a struggle as we didn't know who the quarterback would be and at the very least we knew he would be inexperienced. This season, we know Brady Reed will be the quarterback and we also know that Coach Monroe is very high on him. The Owls have Mathew Polk as tb. Polk was used sparingly a year ago, but he is lightning quick. He will remind you a little of Marshall, although not quite as durable. Behind him are a number of candidates including Timmy Williams, a member of Ooltewah's state champion 4 X 100 relay team. He may also get a look at wr. Gino Norwood is the top returning wr. The coaches hope that Sammy Seamster,Darian Delaney, and Johnny Myricks can make a big contribution. Without a doubt, this would be the fastest wr corp in the state, but they have little to no experience. On the plus side is the fact that that wr and qb positions are going to get excellent coaching.
  7. Dude please......you say 2 deep at ol and dl then say center is a question mark? You ever heard of Brian Williams? He's a returning senior starter. The most talented receiving corp in the state? LOL......I would say the coaches would tend to disagree. They have one proven receiver in Norwood....that's it. Delaney has a shot at being a bigtime receiver, but he is unproven. Myricks won the state 100M but has played one season of football. Seamster needs to improve his pass catching. This team has alot of question marks and will miss Brian Marshall as well as the steady and reliable Ryne Shumaker at receiver. Right now, I have us pegged as the #3 or #4 team in the region. The coaches have their work cut out for them. Their is some all star quality, but not alot of depth, hence a high numbers of players going both ways. This team will go as far as Brady Reed's right arm will take them. Coach Monroe says he has a chance at being the best he has ever coached. We shall soon find out....
  8. Chris Richardson lives on campus at McCallie, he and his family eat three squares a day at the chow hall, ALL FOR FREE! He teaches two classes at McCallie. So no, he's not coming to Ooltewah.....
  9. Congrats! I'm a big Lookout Valley fan and I hope you guys win it all!
  10. As I understand it, we will continue to be a AAAAA school. I look for the smaller, private schools in the area to be affected, but yes Ooltewah should see some overcrowding relief, but once things pickup, Ooltewah will boom again, adding to over crowding issues.
  11. He's worked for Jarvis/Foster before? He lives in East Ridge? Ooltewah's a sleeping giant in baseball? Ooltewah is poised to dominate in every sport? Soddy isn't growing like Ooltewah?
  12. It's important because people want to know who the coach is going to be. For most baseball players, their season didn't end against Red Bank as everyone is beginning preperation for the summer season. Inquiring minds want to know who the next coach is going to be. I hope we get Garland!
  13. Void-The Georgia transfers of '06 were all studs. Tyler Covington could hit with anybody. I know Jon and Tyler's pop played little league together but Tyler played based on merit and not who he was.
  14. My son played against him when they were younger, but not since they were 10 or so. We've played with alot of the same people so I've heard his name mentioned alot and I've never heard anything bad. His stats speak for themselves and AA is alot better than A ball. There are a couple of kids on some other teams in the area that posted eye popping numbers that would not have hit .300 for Ooltewah's freshmen.
  15. Jon's a good guy that has a good pedigree. He played at UT and Birmingham Southern, so he knows baseball. I just feel he lost his desire and passion somewhere along the way and during the season, it has to be a seven day a week job. During the summer and fall, time must be dedicated to getting the field ready. Jon has a young family, so I can understand his plight. I would say the job will be Joe Wingate's if he wants it, but he has been there and done that. He knows all too well that Ooltewah parents are some of the most difficult to deal with. I would like to see someone with zero ties come in and start over....starting with getting the field ready. The coach at Central did a remarkable job of getting their field ready this year but he put in a zillion hours. He coached at North Jackson before taking the Central job. Maybe he's a darkhorse? I would like to see Garland move from Soddy and he has worked for Foster/Jarvis in the past at East Ridge. I'm hearing the coaches at Notre Dame and CSAS are interested. Both have pro experience. This should be interesting but it needs to be someone strong enough to deal with some of the most meddling parents on gods green earth. I like the idea of not allowing parents to watch practice like Wingate had a few years ago. Wingate wouldn't talk to parents either. Good for him......
  16. In the lower southeast Tennessee quadrant, Jared "Jarhead" Allen seems to be without any peers. I haven't seen him play much, but his numbers are eye-popping and he is doing it at the plate and from the mound. He is a legitimate stud from Polk County.
  17. The Owls will be back. They start as mamy as five sophomores. They don't have strong junior and senior classes which has been their undoing this season. Coach Massey will have them ready to rumble next season.
  18. Well, tell us about the one sided coin that has to be "dealt with"? I stopped coaching my kid when he was was 9 because I wanted him to learn to play and earn his stripes. I also wanted to start learning as a parent how to deal with situations that don't go our way. My son prefers to handle situations himself and wants me to stay out of it. I think our plan worked.....
  19. How about little Ryan Goines? I'm proud of that son of a gun. I saw his name listed as star of the game as he drove in four runs. His parents are nice folks and I know their proud. I love to see kids my son played summer ball with and against do well. It validates what we as parents were trying to do when we were playing "select" when they were 10 or 11 and that was to play better competition in hopes it would help them get ready for high school. I'm seeing high school juniors and seniors struggle because they didn't want to sacrifice or their parents didn't want to "give up" their summer. But at the same time, Mom and Dad expect them to be the best. It's no guarantee that you'll be the best by playing the best during the summer, but it's no accident that the best are playing the best. If you're a rising senior playing "down" on the summer school team....don't expect to get better.
