  1. Come on Halls, step up or step out!!! I'm for you and hope you win vs DB..................... A Chattanooga a Yard Fan
  2. Again guys, it's that schedule thing. Usually games with an opponent who is some distance from you merit one match up in the regular season. Examples here are Grundy, Marion, Bledsoe, etc. Not so in basketball, but that's the way the schedule has been in baseball for years.
  3. Predicted Hixson with Smalley pitching, but Smalley didn't pitch. Lefty Matt Stephens turned in a find complete game effort for the Cats behind some solid defense for a change by the Hixson team. Several key infield plays at the corner, some outstanding plays in the outfield sealed the game for the Wildcats. The bats rattled as well as doubles came from Brett Smalley (2), Josh Green, and Jake McClure. Two hits each by Kevin Cantrell and David Howard were key in the victory.
  4. How about realizing that who you play in your assigned district is not up to you but a part of mandatory scheduling according to TSSAA rules. You have to play a certain number of games within the assigned district. Hixson has played a number of quality teams in the area besides the district teams you mentioned, as well as entering numerous tournaments. Take the time to check the records before letting loose with your cannon and letting that wild pitch sail into the stands. By the way they were victorious two out of three times verses AAA Soddy Daisy this year and Soddy Daisy is a QUALITY baseball team. In addition they have played Marion Co., Notre Dame, Red Bank, have Ooltehwah scheduled for Thursday the 21st and Grundy Co. next Tuesday the 26th. What's with the Hixson bashing going on here lately by a few select postals???
  5. Several from way back: 1. About a slow runner, someone puts up one hand similar to the tomahawk chop, aligns it with the runner and asks the fans, "Is he moving?". 2. When a team is obviously not hitting the ball: "My dead Grandmother can hit better than that!".
  6. Brett Smalley of Hixson has 54 strikeouts thus far this year with a game high 17Ks.
  7. Not only the players but the fans as well often show disrespect. I have seen several people in the stands not remove their hat or chit-chat through the National Anthem. I am one of those that cannot stand idly by without discreetly reminding someone directly or indirectly of their behavior. Why? How can you as an American hear the National Anthem, listen to those around you sing along or hum the words, watch Old Glory wave off that flagpole and not feel something inside? We're talking baseball here too..........America's Past Time!! As a good ole' Southern educated redneck, I feel a lump in my throat, chill bumps on my arms and a swelling in my chest every time the first six notes of that Grand Old Song are played. Not just for personal reasons but for those friends, family and acquaintances that have served and protected us and our freedoms, some even giving the greatest gift.........their life. So the next time you see someone show disrespectful behavior in this Country, to our National Anthem, to our Flag and to Baseball, our National Past Time.........let them know about it!! I'll get off my SoapBox now................Let's hope the rain subsides so we can play ball!!
