Although the new rule is potentially benefiting the athletes and the teams by bringing team unity so that others can fill empty shoes this year, it is hard on the runners who have competed in multiple events in the past and now have to narrow it down to only 4. The other problem is that those who compete in multi-events can only do 4 events per meet leading up to regions and state, not allowing them to experience what it is like doing 5 events in one day which they will have to do for the pentathlon and decathlon (2 days of 5 events). If the TSSAA insists on limiting events, I wish they would take into consideration those who will have to compete in more than the current limit for multi-events. It also seems unfair for those athletes who can excel in more than 4 events but are limited in their talent.
