  1. Sorry you feel that way! You have drawn some false assumptions which is always a dangerous thing to do. Kayla is/was the best player in Class A Basketball this year. She deserved it! If you remember, I predicted that Kayla would win Miss Basketball. I did say that the Leonard girl had scored over a 1,000 points and is a freshman. I did say I didn't think they would give it to a freshman. As a matter of fact I do not think a freshman would or should for that matter even be nominated for Miss Basketball. Also, the Andrews girl from Collinwood is a good player, but Gleason beat Collinwood - I think that would give Kayla an edge. Sorry, you took that comment the wrong way! I did not have to comment because what Kayla did on the court this year and at the tourament speaks for itself. MVP - Miss Basketball and a gold ball. What more can I say! Those accomplishments speak for themselves. There is nothing more I can say! Who wouldn't love to win just one of those awards? She won all 3. That is remarkable! 2. Congrats to whoever I am suppose to congrats. I think that is Gleason. Congrats to Gleason, Coach Frazier (best coach in the state) and Kayla Hudson, and all the Lady Bulldogs. 10teamdistrictisajoke, lighten up. Just trying to have some fun on a board where people take things way too seriously. You will enjoy life a lot more if you will lighten up and quit taking things so seriously. Greenfieldfan has no intention of moving to Gleason - he has stated that he has lived in Greenfield all his life. Anyone who is knowledgeable on this board knows that Greenfield fan supports his team and apparently has been friends with Coach Frazier for many years - possibly they went to Greenfield at the same time. To Greenfieldfan, thanks for the support that you give Gleason -- that is when Greenfield is not playing. I apologize to Greenfieldfan, I didn't think anyone would take me seriously, apparently someone did. Hopefully 10teamdistrictisajoke feels better now. 10teamdistrictisajoke, you will live a lot longer if you do not take things so seriously. 10teamdistrictisajoke, hope you feel better now. Have a good laugh and I know you will! DEDICATED TO THE MEMORIES OF THE PALMERSVILE PIRATES!
  3. This is for 10team districtisajoke, Congrats to whoever I am suppose to congrats. I suppose I am suppose to congrats Gleason. Ok congrats Gleason. Lighten up. Just trying to have a little fun. Some people take things way too serious on here. I am proud of Palmersville as well. It is a good place to live. Come and visit us sometime. We have a good place to eat. Also we are the birthplace of a Governor and a former V.P. had some relatives born here. Come and visit us! As far as Greenfieldfan, I love to ride him hard -- This is for Greenfieldfan, thanks for supporting Gleason. We supported Greenfield last year on their tourament run. His blood runs orange except when green plays orange. We are proud of the support that all of Weakely County gives to Gleason. DEDICATED TO THE MEMORIES OF THE PALMERSVILLE PIRATES!
  4. A Good coach plays to the strength of their players. If they had tall post players, they pound the ball inside. If they have good 3 point shooters, they shoot the 3's. Gleason had girls that could handle the ball therefore they could hold the ball. You have to have players who know how to handle the ball if you hold it for 2 or 3 minutes at a time. GLEASON PLAYED TO THEIR STRENGTH. A good coach will always utilize their strong points, which Gleason did. I knew that if Gleason was up at the end of the first quarter, they would probably win the game. With a 4 or 6 point lead, I knew that they would run 2 or 3 minutes off the clock, waiting for a opposing girl to get out of position so Gleason could score. That is smart basketball. Is it boring basketball? Well, it might be, but look at who got the gold. Did Gleason play fair and go by the rules? Yes, they did. There was a game between McNairy and Chester County a few years ago and the final score was 6 to 4. Was it boring? Yes it was. Yet, it was a fair game. I personally do not like a players going out of bounds and while in the air calling for a timeout. I don't like it but it is fair until they change that rule. I was impressed by OS coach - however, she should have known what Gleason was going to do before the game began and she should have made adjustments. Gleason is known for its tough defense and they will run a patient offense until they are able to run the player that they are wanting to run. Also, to prove that I am a fair person - one of the best players on the court at the Boro was an OS player - Kayla Christoper. I was deeply impressed with her skills. I believe that OS will be back next year. Good luck to OS next year, you are a very good team. DEDICATED TO THE MEMORIES OF THE PALMERSVILLE PIRATES!
  5. GreenfieldFan, You do post all the time about Gleason and our good basketball team, even more so than you do for Greenfield. We are hoping that you will reconsider and think about moving to this great community. The rumor is that you would like to have Coach Frazier over at Greenfield. Are you trying to steal our coach? Also the rumor is that you are indeed kin to the Hudson family. Is that true or just a rumor? Or would you like to be kin to them - maybe we can prearrange a wedding if you have a son. SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD DEAL! Who know, perhaps 20 years down the road, that grandchild might win a Miss Basketball award 4 years in a row. BE BRAVE AND PUT A FOR SALE SIGN IN FRONT OF YOUR HOUSE! 6. Gleason's style of play for the last 20 years has been a slow down game, yet it was more so this year than in years past. Apparently some of the coaches did not do their homework or they would have known that. Sometimes during this particular season even in the 1st quarter of the game, Gleason would go 2 or 3 minutes before shooting the ball - they were looking for a particular play plus after a minute or two, the defense will always get lazy. Also, the slow style has not hurt the attendance at Gleason - I believe Gleason had twice the fans that Oliver Springs had. I don't know how many students that Oliver Springs has in their school but Gleason only has 166 students in school and about 1,400 in the community. In substate, Gleason had about 900 fans verses 300 for Scotts Hill. Just remember offense gets your name in the paper, but defense wins game especially championships. The girl who plays defense gets little credit other than the fact they get a championship ring. DEDICATED TO THE MEMORIES OF THE PALMERSVILLE PIRATES!
  7. [/quot Please understand I I do not mean any disrespect to Coach Brown but Randy Frazier is the best coach in the state in any classification. The guy can coach. Jim Brown's record at Boro 17-2 Randy Frazier record at Boro 8-6 Greenfield coaches at Boro - we are not going to talk about it. I think both are good coaches, don't you Gleasonfan? When are you going to change your screen name? If you are tired of looking at houses in Gleason, they are cheaper in Palmersville (a kid can still go to Gleason school) and it is better deer hunting. HA! HA! I know deer hunting is terrible in Greenfield - "go northeast son!" On second thought, it is better basketball in the northeast. DEDICATED TO THE MEMORIES OF THE PALMERSVILLE PIRATES!!
  8. Greenfieldfan, You are a great guy. If you were to leave Greenfield, the town would mourn for years to come. Thanks for letting me having some fun at your expense. Thanks for always pulling for sister communities and schools. We appreciate your team spirit. We do hope that Greenfield gets a quality coach - similar to Coach T. and Coach Frazier. On a serious note, thanks for the support you give our school and all the communties of Weakley County. People like you make Weakley County a very special place. DEDICATED TO THE MEMORIES OF THE PALMERSVILLE PIRATES!
  9. Greenfieldfan Gleason has the best player and the best coach. Gleason is the most fundamental team in the state and it will be a different story tonight. Gleason by 10.[/b] Greenfieldfan, You like our coach-- there are some houses for sale in Gleason (if you do not like Gleason, what about Palmersville). Your 8th grade player needs to come to this great town and school. Most people get the idea that you like our coach better than any coach Greenfield has had and you seem to follow our team more than your own team. Houses are for sale all over Gleason (If not we will find you one in Palmersville - like Mr. Douglas on Green Acres, you can get that clean air into your lungs). If you move to Palmersville, we will still let your child go to Gleason and we will not be offended. I agree that we (Gleason) do have a good coach and a lot of good players (not just one as some think). Isn't Green or Avenshine good? I think they are and you probably do as well. But it has been 8 long years since we have made the trip to the Boro. Maybe with your help, that is if you will move to our great community, it will not be 8 years. Waiting to see how much you love our coach and school???????? I will contact a real estate person if you want me to. How about it? DEDICATED TO THE MEMORIES OF THE PALMERSVILLE PIRATES!
  10. A shot clock would hurt a guard oriented team such as Gleason. Gleason plays defense and waits patiently on offense until they can run the play that they want to run. With a shot clock, it would hurt your smaller schools because you would have to have a deeper bench. DEDICATED TO THE MEMORIES OF PALMERSVILLE PIRATES!!!!!
  11. Hilltopdawg, I do agree with you. It should not matter if a player is a freshman or a senior - they should be given equal consideration. But a fact of life is those who vote always go on seniority historically. Sorry that is the way it is - Laken is a great player and she will be Miss Basketball in the future - not this year due to her age. Sorry, life is not always fair! DEDICATED TO THE MEMORIES OF THE PALMERSVILLE PIRATES!
  12. Congrats to Kayla Hudson for being named Class A Miss Basketball. I know you are going to say that the vote has not taken place yet; I realized that. But one must understand that Andrews and Leonard are from Middle Tennessee and will split the votes. All 3 young ladies are excellent choices. But Kayla Hudson will win for several reasons. 1) Andrews and Leonard are both from Middle Tennessee. 2) Hudson is the oldest of the group and the voters usually think that the other 2 young ladies will have another chance to win it. 3) Gleason, whether deserved or not, has been ranked #1 in the polls for most of the season. So in advance, CONGRATS TO KAYLA HUDSON FOR BEING CLASS A MISS BASKETBALL IN 2007. DEDICATED TO THE MEMORIES OF THE PALMERSVILLE PIRATES!
  13. Gleason will do fine next season. The little freshman "eden -field" girl will handle the point position fine. In some ways, Gleason might be a better team next season. Why? The opposition will not know who to try to shut down. (This year - shut down our point guard and we are a so-so team.) Also the Ovenshine girl will step up and have a great season - plus Stout and Frazier girl will have more experience). Gleason has not had a down year in a long time. 6 or 7 years ago was a double digit loss but they also won the district championship that year. The reason for the down year then was the best player in Weakley Co. walked off the team for other things. 2007-2008 will not be a down year. The 2nd point is that this year's Gleason team has done well. However, Gleason has not played all those tough AA school (Austin-East, Obion) as they did in year's past (played Franklin this year - they do not compare to previous mentioned 2 schools). Gleason will not whine about the 10 team district. We will play anyone -anytime - anyplace. Bring it on! DEDICATED TO THE MEMORIES OF THE PALMERSVILLE PIRATES!
  14. Congrats to the Lady Red Devils of Bradford. It has been a long road back to the regionals. Good luck! Winning against the #10 ranked team in Class A was no easy feat. DEDICATED TO THE MEMORIES OF THE PALMERSVILLE PIRATES!
  15. It has been 8 years since Gleason has even made a state tourney appearance. They have been ranked #1 in the polls several times since 1999. Most people feel that Kayla is very deserving of Miss Basketball. Yet most people in Gleason would trade a Miss Basketball award for an appearance in the boro. We are more concerned about a team award (state championship) than an individual award. Kayla has signed with Union University. Someone ask why she didn't play Division I. Only one person in Gleason school history has played Division I (Ashley McElhiney). Kayla and all the Lady Bulldogs are going to have to step it up a notch if they get out of the region. It seems that many teams have had Kayla number when it comes to the regionals. Good luck to Kayla and all the Gleason Lady Bulldogs. Everyone in Weakley Co. is pulling for you. DEDICATED TO THE MEMORIES OF THE PALMERSVILLE PIRATES!
