  1. 82 you're right. But that goes for all sports. In basketball after he season those kids play AAU. Baseball has fall ball, and the list goes on. As for football, I know a lot of kids were even discouraged from going to camps. Blade didn't want them learning anything he did'nt teach. The biggest thing I hope the new coach brings is long term stability. Ever since Blade was hired, each year people wondered would he be looking for the next opportunity to further his career. I know there are no guarantees, but that's what they need to strive for. Oak Ridge shouldn't be a stopping point.
  2. I'm pretty sure it was either Dunbar or Johnson. Jordan Dunbar, Geeavante Gee, Isiah Jones, and Javien Johnson are the freshmen who have been practicing with the varsity and playing with the JV. For the JV I would say Jemiah Hall, Jamaal Anderson, Ted Mitchell, and Tim Rabinstien for the JV. Ted and Tim already dress out for the varsity.
  3. He had 4 freshmen that dressed out all year with varisty, and I can remember one of them saying that Elliot Normand was saying how lucky they were becaues Blade actually was talking to them, because he never really spoke to him until his sophmore year. Wow that is how you get somebody excited about your program. Not! Well enough of that. He's gone, lets move on and hope the next coach can bring excitement back to the program.
  4. And that is the attitude that has contributed to the decline of participation in football. I can see his point, because now matter how many you have, how many really contribute on Friday nights. But on the other hand, I know a lot of people who were on OR teams and didn't get to play a lot, but where as much a part of OR football as anybody else.
  5. Oak Ridge should be set for the next few years. Like already stated the Middle Schools are doing well, the freshmen and JV are undefeated with the closes game being a five point win over Cathlic with the freshmen, all the rest of them have been blowouts. The big problem coach Green is going to have is holding the ship down until football season is over. 3 of the starting 5 of the freshman, and 4 of the starting 5 JV players play football. 4 of the freshman also play JV and 4 of those practice with the varsity. To put it into prospective, as good as Tee is, he wasn't even the leading scorer last year at Roberstville. Something that may also come into play down the road will be if those kids decide to only play one sport, since many of them could be a starter either way.
  6. Haha, but he would be another Hillsboro guy. Not!
  7. I wouldn't put anything into that, Blade was at a few basketball games also. Must be one of their teacher duties. Also Gray's son is on the freshman team.
  8. Just heard that Blade has resigned, time to start speculating.
  9. This was a good game, and I agree the refs did do a pretty good job except allowing that time out. OR does need to get the ball into Merrian more. They couldn't stop him. Even though Rian hit those free throws to win it, they need to work on them. They had three straight 1 and 1's that they missed the front end on. That hurt them against Powell also.
  10. I second that. But hey you never know, especially in basketball. A team comes out flat and before you know it, its a two point game with a minute left and you're wondering what the heck is happening.
  11. I'm not going to even say it has anything to do with his intelligence. I know for a fact that the Alcoa job was due to salary. Bearden don't know. My original statement for even mentioning these things was due to someone saying he deserves to be a head coach. Well he's had chances so that is on him. Things like that have a way of making it around and can affect you in the future. May be that is why Karns turned him down.
  12. Well obviously you don't know him that well. This is anything new either. That has been out for a while.
  13. Unfortunately regardless of the stats, in this time of youtube, camps, combines, twitter, etc. many coaches are looking for kids that fit a specific mold. If you don't fit it, you don't get a look. Hopefully he will get a chance somewhere. Does anybody know if he attended any camps. I don't know the kid but I know several people who kids go to CAK, but from what I hear not only is a great quarterback, he's s a kid all around, so I wish him the best however it turns out.
  14. mocs30, you are right. OR was able to turn them over a few times with the press, but they were very patient. That is the key to breaking the press. Even when breaking it, if the fast break wasn't there they pulled back and got into their offense. I don't really remember seeing them rush any shots. Also they had very good ball movement at the end of the game, not allowing OR to trap them. They are very well coached team. It going to be interesting come tournement time, with all the good teams.
  15. He did want to be on the staff, and Mullins wanted him, but Blade didn't.
  16. Simple FT, 3's, and hustle. They hit their's and OR didn't . I'm not going to sit here and say that OR didn't come to play. Powell just flat out, out played them on both ends of the floor. 13 and 11 for Powell couldn't miss. 13 is the same kid who helped Powell upset them last year in the district tournement. It was Powells night, they where the better team that game. OR better learn from this, because if they don't it will be a long night for them Saturday against Science Hill.
  17. I thing do think Ron Gray might be a good choice, but he has only himself to blame as far as not being a head coach. He had been offered both the Alcoa and Bearden HC position and turned both of them down. I'm sure he had his reasons, but those decisions my also ultimately cost him in consideration for this position.
  18. OR needs to win against Powell and DB so that they can go into the Science Hill game undefeated. Science Hill opened their new gym this year so it should be packed if both teams come in undefeated. That game should really give OR a look on where they stand, because any chances of going to the state is definately going to have to go through Science Hill.
  19. I think you might be right about that one.
  20. That person should be the AD then. Who forced him to hire Wortman? Good thing that experiment lasted only one year. As for Gaddis, that would be a plus. Blade is a good coach, but his ego does tend to get in the way sometimes.
  21. Thats just the the varsity. The JV and Freshmen teams are load with that type of talent also. Coach Green should be set for the next few years. His biggest problem is going to be holding it down early in the season since a lot of them also play football.
  22. Funny that the scheduled turned from Oak Ridges schedule to the AD. But on a side note, what did he do to make the cheerleading coachs mad and all quit. I was at the AC vs OR basketball game and there were no Cheerleaders. I was told something happened between Mullins and them and they all quit.
